We owned the first generation Opal ice maker, and it was very good. Liked it so much, got a second one. The newer one made some good improvements - such as being quieter, less "squeaks" and noise when making ice. Fit and finish seems a little more refined. The ice bin appears to be a new design so it is less likely to pull all the way out by accident. So far so good!

My wife really wanted one of these because she drinks a lot of water and LOVES the ice from Son1c. We got this and there is both good and bad. Bad first - it seems that it shouldn't be this expensive. Second - Ours started making a screeching noise randomly in the very first week. This is actually a known problem so I'm not sure why it is still happening. On the plus side, it really does make great ice and it is cleaver how it reuses ice melt to keep the bin full and reduce refills. In the end, we are exchanging our first unit for a new one, but for sure keeping, and loving it.

Our fridge doesn't have an ice maker in our apartment. And with my wife being pregnant in the middle of summer she needed ice cold drinks to get her through it. We got this and she couldn't be happier always having the nugget ice to to chew while she enjoys her lemonade.

I love my ice maker! It works as advertised. The ice is light and crunchy. I haven't had any issues and the noise is minimal, like it's not even there. The app is amazing. I love that I can turn on and off my machine remotely. I bought other machines and this is by far the best one. I recommend it to all my friends and family.

A great addition to to our home and kitchen. Every time we entertain we get the request for “the good ice” so simple to use and is not that difficult to clean. The WI-FI feature is great, you can program it to start making ice when you want or turn it on while you're on your way home. It also lets you know when it needs cleaning. We did not get the auxiliary water tank, but our friends got one after seeing ours with the tank and they love it. I don't think you will be disappointed in this purchase. We haven't used our other ice machine since we got this one.

Every time I had more than two people in the house, I found myself asking someone to bring ice. Finally, I decided to get this ice machine. Though I plan to have electricity added in my pantry this summer so I don't have to have the machine on the kitchen counter, for now we are using it on the counter. We love the ease of maintaining is and we love the ice.

This is our second Opal - we initially had the model from first build. That one had a lot of issues, it was very loud, leaked out the front, and had a big issue with mineral deposits in the tubing which were difficult to clean out. The side tank made the leaking worse and we couldnt use it. This model seems to have fixed the leaking issue and is nicer looking. It's still pretty loud, but not as loud as the old one. I recommend running the cleaning cycle quarterly to avoid the issue with mineral buildup. The ice cannot be beat - so satisfying for anyone who loves chewing on ice, and a lot more affordable than an under-counter ice maker (although price point is still a little high)

Only owned for a few days but so far I am very pleased. Soft small pellet ice just as expected. My only disappointment was that once the drawer is full of ice it doesn't continue to cool or keep ice frozen. Unit shuts down and ice slowly melts. This may be an energy saving thing, but I just wish it would keep that ice frozen until used then make more as needed. Otherwise I am thoroughly enjoying this ice maker. It is mostly what I hoped it would be and highly recommend if you are looking for a soft, small pellet ice machine.

I've looked at tons of ice makers, including commercial models and I was leery about a counter-top model. This is the one! The pellet ice is amazing, it makes ice fast and the side mount water compartment makes filling easy, without having to stop ice production. My guests are curious when they see it and jealous after trying the ice. It's fairly large for a counter-top model, but it does fit under my upper cabinets just fine. Call me happy with my purchase and no, I did not receive any incentive for this review.
