Right in the trash. The new recipe is awful. This was one of our favorite Sam's items. I thought I was disappointed when they started slicing it, but it was still tasty. Now it's actually offensive.

Sam’s changed the recipe on this bread and added in malted barley, yeast, and some other trash ingredients that ruin sourdough from actually being sourdough. Beware if you have food allergies!!!

I used to buy one every week until April 2026, Ingredients changed now, not traditional sourdough anymore! Carb went up from 27g to 35g per 56g slice.

very disappointed that they changed the bread. it used to be very good, now it tastes like regular white bread. pass!! i guess it's time to perfect my sour dough at home!

I stopped purchasing this product as they changed the ingredients. A few months back it was a clean list of ingredients, now they have added more ingredients which are not healthier options and of course the taste is different.

Absolutely horrible I would give it 0 stars if I could! How is it even considered a sourdough bread if it no longer contains sourdough starter? New recipe tastes like plain old bread. No longer good! How unfortunate that something perfectly fine had to be changed.

Sam’s sliced sour dough bread is wonderful! The earlier times I bought it, it was just the pretty round loaf and I sliced it myself to toast and enjoy its deliciousness. Now that pretty round loaf comes in a sliced option and I love it even more — same deliciousness but so much quicker to get it toasted and buttered and devoured! NOTE: A flurry of suspicious negative reviews posted on April 9th and 10th saying sour dough starter was not listed as an ingredient anymore. That’s not true. It is and the bread is delicious!

This is now a white bread with maybe a slight hint of sourdough. I wondered based on the look when I got it today. Even questioned the bakery employee if it was sourdough and she said that’s it. Nope that’s not it! We want the real sourdough back!

I am writing to express my concern regarding the recent changes made to the “sourdough bread” currently being sold in your stores. As a regular customer, I specifically chose your sourdough bread because it was made with a traditional sourdough starter. However, I have noticed that the current version no longer includes a sourdough starter in its ingredients. The product now contains vegetable oil, which is known to be inflammatory, as well as enriched flour. These changes significantly alter both the nutritional value and the authenticity of the product. I kindly ask that you reconsider these changes or clearly relabel the product, as it may be misleading to market it as sourdough when it no longer follows traditional preparation standards.

I'd give zero stars if I could! Sam's has changed the ingredients list in the sourdough bread. It is no longer actually sourdough. Now has no sourdough starter and tons of added, unnecessary ingredients that defeat the whole purpose of sourdough. The old, true sourdough recipe was the sole reason I would visit the store on almost a weekly basis. It really is a shame! Please change it back!
