Powerful Backup Generator

Was easy to assemble, and came with everything beside the Natural Gas Hose is missing, which I have reported to WestingHouse and waiting on if they could mail me one. This same model was recommended to me by my neighbor who used it during the recent Hurricane Beryl in Texas and hooked up to his house and provide power to the whole house.

Better Than expected

I purchased this generator to replace an older and smaller unit. I was happy to find many extras included in the box. I have not needed to use the unit as of yet. The set up was very simple and easy to do. The electric start will be especially enjoy by my wife, should I not be home when the unit is needed.

Well Built and Worth the Money!

This thing is fantastic! It is obvious even from unboxing how well it is built. It easily starts right up and produces plenty of power for a portable generator. At the same time, the size is great and easily movable with the handle and wheels. Living in a state susceptible to hurricanes, we are beyond happy we went with this generator.

Portable Generator

I bought two of these to power my entire house. I had an electrician provide wiring so I can connect directly to the breaker panels. I tested them today and they power my entire house including two exterior air conditioners, a 25,000 btu window air conditioner, pool pump, and everything else in the house.

Great generator with options

During hurricane beryl we had use of our old 5000kw gen. The only problem was getting gas. With your tri fuel I feel safer because if I can not gas I can use my natural gas line hook up. I did a test run when I got this and it powers up my whole house with a few bigger appliances not connected. This generator will serve my needs in the future. I am glad to have found this because of the multiple fuel options. I look forward to not having to worry when next power outages occur. Thank you, Jay Guinn

Easy to put together

I just purchased this generator after Hurricane Beryl to prepare for the next power outage. Haven’t had a chance to use it but I did put it together and it was easy enough and much easier to move around once the wheels are in place. The item is very heavy/sturdy.

Starts Easy and Runs Smooth

This new portable generator is a vast improvement over my previous generator, manufactured 20+ years ago. The new Westinghouse looks fantastic, starts easy,, and runs smooth. I've waited almost six months to submit this review, expecting to lose power in the meantime and have more than short test runs to evaluate the generator, but no power outages have occured from March thru August. The generator is heavier than expected and I'm glad a young strong grandson lives here with me to help move it. The generator is plumbed into the second electrical breaker box. There's enough generator power to do everything I need, except for water heater, clothes dryer, range, and oven. The microwave can be used at partial power, and at full power if other electrical stuff is turned off. I can even use the generator to power my geothermal system heat pump, but only when the outdoor temp is greater than 20 degrees F. The electrical resistance heating would use far more power but doesn't turn on until it's less than 15 degrees outside at my home. May ask geothermal tech to install a separate switch to turn off electrical resistance heaters when the generator is the only power source.

Seem very well built

Just received this. Have not run yet. Seems simple enought to operate. The wheels were fairly simple to attach if you have it propped up. The instructions on the oil level did not make sense though. Not screwing the dipstick back in seems hard to accurately see the level. Even when I screwed it all the way in, the full container of oil supplied only read to the bare minimum operating level. I'm not very pleased with that but I will talk to a tech to see what I need to do.

Great Start

Like so many others, we bought our generator soon after the most recent hurricane. We had a few weeks to shop around, because you couldn't find any units in stock anywhere. This allowed us to research the capacity, fuel type, features and brand we wanted. We narrowed down to two units, and the WGEN9500Tfc was first available. We ordered it for home delivery, which we would certainly recommend for a unit this size, and it arrived in perfect condition. With weather looking good, we took our time buying accessories. We got a 50A shore cable online, and it connected perfectly. We also bought a natural gas line. We had to add two fittings to make it work. We ended up needing a 1/2 male flare to 1/2 female NPT adapter to properly fit the male QD fitting. Once the connectors were in place, we had a seamless fit between the gas supply and the unit. I finally had an opportunity to test the generator last night. It did not fire up immediately like some other reviewers have experienced, but I think that's got more to do with the gas hose we used. I used the remote start feature and on button press #3, cycle attempt #7, the generator started up cleanly and ran for two hours on NG. We connected an LED flood light and a tabletop fan. Fifteen minutes in, I added a window unit A/C that had not been powered on since probably 2005. It ran fine for 30 minutes with no noticeable drop in voltage or current. I shut things down at the 2 hour mark and everything looked good. Thirty minutes later, the unit was cool enough to move inside and cover. Ambient temperature at that point was 92°, so the cooling seems to be pretty good. I'll run it again on propane next weekend and I'm sure that it will run flawlessly. It's too early to tell about longevity or whole -home performance, but we couldn't be happier at this point. Be sure to read lots of good and bad reviews, read articles, watch videos and ask questions. There's a lot to learn about generators, fuels, maintenance, transfer switches, soft starts, etc. Take your time and make the best possible choice. I feel like we did.

Best Option is Options!!!

We picked the Westinghouse WGen9500TFc generator because it has three fuel options. We have a natural gas line we can hook it up to at home and can use propane or gas on the road. This generator is powerful enough to handle all of our needs and gives us the versatility to use whatever fuel options are available to us. Living in Texas and dealing with terrible storms, we needed a good generator. I can relax knowing we are set for the next storm that comes our way and we won't be dying from the heat or freezing from the cold.
