We are more than happy to provide guidance with this smoker. The odor that you are experiencing is normal. Like any cooking appliance, you will smell the aroma of the food cooking. Those highly sensitive to the scent may consider placing their smoker in a garage or under the kitchen vent hood to easily disperse of residual aromas. We have also provided some tips and tricks to help with the best smoking results here: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=000064141

Love my new indoor smoker.

[Employee of ge_appliances] I love the indoor smoker. I just smoked a whole chicken and it came out perfect. I have recommended it to no less than 10 friends within 24 hours of making it. Excellent technology. Excellent appliance.

Outstanding performance and results

Great product all the way around. Perfect for small family cooks when the weather doesn't permit to smoke outdoors. Very user friendly, controls simple. Easy clean up, and holds temperature well. It has more room than it appears. I was able fit 56 wings at one time.

Nice smoker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have cooked steak, chicken, sausages, and baked potato in this. It has presets for different types of meat or you can customize your own. Load the pellets in the hopper, make sure there of water in the bin. Start it up and let it preheat. It’s quiet and I didn’t have any smoke smell in my kitchen. It cooked everything perfectly to what I had set the temp and smoke level to. It’s a smaller unit, so you won’t really be able to smoke nothing large in it. It was easy to assemble. I like the thermometer that comes with it so you can make sure your food is cooked to the correct temperature.

Awesome

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Honestly, I didn’t know what to think about a product such as this. I thought it would be too good to be true. I live in the Midwest, so our weather determines a lot of what we can do with outdoors and our food. I gave this a try and I am in love with the results. I’ve made a turkey, chicken, fish, and so much more with this and it turned out to be some of the most delicious smoked food I’ve ever made. Using this was very easy. I did reference the recipe book on my first few goes to familiarize myself with things. The appliance itself is very easy to operate and understand. It’s very quiet while being used as well. I was very surprised bc there were no issues with smoke or weird mystery smells. Clean up was a breeze. This is by far my favorite appliance and I’ve got a few friends that think it’s really awesome and planning to purchase one as well

Perfect Indoor Smoking Solution for City Living!

Living in San Francisco, an outdoor BBQ or smoker is out of the question where I live. The GE Profile Indoor Smoker has been the perfect solution! There’s no smoke, just a light, sweet aroma when smoking, which the kitchen exhaust fan takes out before it reaches the rest of our small home. While it doesn’t produce a traditional smoke ring, the bark and flavor are exceptional for how the device is used. If you live in a city and miss the joys of smoked food, this indoor smoker is a game-changer. Highly recommended!

Nice machine but smokeless does not mean odorless

Overall not a bad machine. 2 cooks so far and user experience is positive. Taste and texture of finished product are very good. Normal setup is a MasterBuilt gravity fed charcoal smoker. Bought this so I could smoke indoors in the winter. The unit appears to live up to being advertised as smokeless as we have a very sensitive FIltrete home air filter in the same room as the smoker and it barely has any impact on it whereas regular cooking makes it go crazy. However, smokeless does not mean odorless. The unit does put out a rather strong smell. If you are overly sensitive to smells, this may not be the setup for you. The first cook was really bad and had to crack a window. Attribute it to burning off factory oils/finishes. Second cook was much better but it still puts out a distinctive smell. Hoping it gets better as I break the smoker in. Did have an issue on the second cook with the pellet hopper getting jammed. Pellets were not being fed by the hopper. Using Traeger Signature Blend pellets. Diagnosed as the pellets being too long causing the auger to get jammed. Emptied the bin and made sure to break up the pellets into smaller pieces by hand. Working like a charm now. I'll be trying other pellet brands to see if they have similar issues.
