I’ve only ever had metal tongs, the kind with the hole in the middle of the tong part, which would be torture to use as everything fell through or the metal would scrape. The design of these with the silicone allow them to be tongs and a spatula in one. I mostly use the larger size, the smaller size is a bit too short for anything I’ve made so far. But overall, a great product!

I thought that the silicone “jaws” of these tongs looked rather larger than seemed necessary. That proved to be so in use. I had great difficulty grabbing anything thin or small such as turning over tater tots. Those jaws are too long and broad compared with my trusty old metal tongs with scallop-edged jaws. I couldn’t even lift chicken cutlets either. The beveled edges that should slip easily under a cutlet only shoved them around the frying pan. Finally, the push-pull lock tab unlocks the tongs for use when pushed into the base of the tongs—and too often does that when I try to put these tongs into my utensil jar. Might be fine if you store the tongs in a drawer, but I want mine near the stove where I can grab them quickly and easily. A definite fail for me. Your mileage may vary.
