I don't recommend this Dyson product
I absolutely despised everything about this vacuum. I got my first Dyson vacuum back in 2011. It was my favorite vacuum and it did an amazing job. Almost 13 years later, we moved into a new (already furnished, vacated, unkempt home) and this vacuum finally was at its limit. I decided to go the Dyson route again and needed something meant for animals (I have a golden ret. now). This vacuum is HEAVY, difficult to maneuver around, turning. Changing it from it's upright position to down and vice versa is clunky and makes me feel like I might break it. No buttons for it, just pushing really hard to get it to stay back up or go down. Removing the hose is difficult to unhook and put back together. Not sure if my vacuum was just a really awful manufacturing error or what but everything about it was just bad. The suctioning on it was great, but even with the high rise function for like high carpeting, it still sucked the heck out of my rugs and would get stuck. Sorry, but I don't recommend!

Broke while using, so warranty is useless
My daughter was carrying this up the stairs. It bumped the top step and the whole brush roll head part broke off of the main part of the vacuum. She is only 10 and could not have hit it hard. I was nearby and didn't even hear it bump the stair. We've had the vacuum less than 10 months, so the warranty is still "good", but they will not honor it because "it happened while we were carrying it." Is that really all the warranty will cover, if it somehow breaks when no one is touching it? I would understand if we had been very rough with it, but vacuums are going to bump things from time to time. That should be considered normal wear and tear. I expected Dyson products to be made of higher quality. It should not fall apart when bumping a step. The part that broke is a circular connector made of plastic. It bent right out of shape and I can't fix it without replacing the entire brush roll head piece, even though the rest of it is fine, it's just that circular connection that is bent. What's more, they want to charge me $115 to send the replacement part. That's almost half the price of the vacuum new (on sale--which it often is). If they're going to refuse to honor the warranty, I would hope they would at least be willing to send the part at a reasonable price. So buyer beware, this is a fragile piece of equipment and needs to be used with care. It breaks easily, and the warranty is pretty useless.
Too hard to push across carpet; had to return
I'm a long-time Dyson owner and it was time to replace my 12-year-old DC 40. I bought the Ball Animal 3+ because it was the most similar to my old one, and I would be able to reuse all my many attachments. I tried this out and could barely push it across the carpet! The suction was too strong, even on the highest setting. I really wanted this to work, but it was so hard to push that my arm was sore after cleaning one room (and I lift weights!) I've since found out that Dyson is getting out of the upright vac business, to concentrate on the rechargeable stick vacs. It's a shame because I really liked my old one.

Good suction power. Poor build quality
So there's only three good things about this vacuum. The suction power is awesome. I like how it directs the suction power directly to the floor when in vacuuming mode. I do like that it does have a washable HEPA filter. It is hard to find a vacuum nowadays that has a washable HEPA and I do like how it grooms the carpet. It gives that carpet a deep clean vacuum. Look now the cons. Very cheap material. Very flimsy for a Dyson I expect better handle flexes. It's just a matter of time before the handle breaks off because the vacuum is hard to push on carpet with its suction power and make sure you push the vacuum all the way forward in the upright position. Even if you think it's fully in the upright position, push it a little bit more to make sure because it is trickery. It will seem that the feet are on the floor and it's in the upright position but once you let it go it will fall flat down. There is a lot of suction power to the hose so you might as well hold the vacuum while vacuuming upholstery or using any onboard tools because the vacuum will become top heavy and or the vacuum will drag behind you and you have to put a lot of pulling power for that hose to stretch because of the The suction power me. I'm returning this and sticking with my shark

Hard to push
Dyson quality is lacking
This vacuum is a step backward from my 15 year old Dyson. I did not like it and returned it. It is very heavy, like so heavy you'll feel like you're lifting weights. The kickstand is so terrible that they should fire their engineers that designed it. It collapses inadvertently all the time, making it hard to even just move the vacuum around. The hose attachment is so awkward to use, it's like it is backwards. Makes no sense. Save your money and buy a different vacuum.
Hype: Way overpriced, not meant for carpet.
This vacuum is all hype and not meant for carpet. I thought that this vacuum was supposed to be "better" than the other leading brands. After vacuuming the carpet using the brand-new Dyson, I still had to vacuum the same carpet with the old Bissel. It is extremely hard to push across the carpet in any setting. The ball itself collects dust and debris to redeposit somewhere else.
Junk product, worse customer service
This vacuum was nothing more than a hassle. When I went to pick one up, I got home to realize that it was missing parts, so I returned it and got a second, also missing parts. You'd think I might learn my lesson, but I went back for a third, which I opened in the store to ensure everything was in the box. This machine worked fantastic, one time. After using it that initial time, I could never get it to finish a room without plugging up and needing disassembled to be cleaned. Yes, I changed the filters, no improvement. After fighting with this machine every time I used it for about 3 months, it lost suction all together. This is clearly a lemon, of a machine, so I called “customer service”. I called, went through the trouble shooting, where the tech was extraordinarily unhelpful. I never raised my voice, never called any names nothing of the sort. He put me on hold for about 10 minutes then I was disconnected. I called back 2 more times and had the exact same experience, put on hold, then hung up on. At this point I called back and asked to speak to a supervisor. After giving them all of the exact same information I had already given 3 times. I was put on hold again. I don't know exactly how long I was on hold, but it was enough time to decide I was done with Dyson, theow away the vacuum go to the store, buy another vacuum, come home, assemble it, and vacuum about half of my house before they finally came back to the line and tell me that they'd call me back. Fast forward about an hour, I finally get a call back, where I recieved a bunch of scripted apologies, and still zero effort at making the situation right. Needless to say, I'm done with Dyson, and will never purchase another product from them.
Buyer Beware - Cheap and poor quality
My almost 20 year old dyson ball recently died. I purchased this thinking I'd get another nearly 20 years out of a Dyson product and I can now say, with certainty, this new one will likely less than 5 years. The good - nice long cord and the vacuum seems to be very powerful The bad - my god, the horrendous smell of plastic is overwhelming. I had to take breaks using it. It's bitterly cold or I would've set it outside and opened the windows to use it. The quality is abysmal. It feels like a toy made for a child and not a nearly $400 vacuum. The fact that you just yank it down instead of a floor button to release the handle should tell you all you need to know about the quality shortcuts. I'm trying to decide if I should even bother trying to return it now that I've used it. I'm beyond disappointed and shocked that this is rated so highly. Buyer beware, Dyson is not longer a company known for its quality.
Great on floors; frustrating attachments
This vacuum is great for floors, but not for the attachments. Running it on the floor sucks up so much more out of carpets than other vacuums, but the attachments are difficult to use. The hose doesn't expand and the vacuum ends up falling over and has almost broken valuable items in my house. I ended up purchasing a different vacuum for the attachments.
