I purchased the rising star premium vanilla extract. The vanilla was crafted with Madagascar bourbon vanilla beans and I do get a hint of the bourbon flavor when smelling it but not in my food when I baked with it. So far I've used it to bake cookies and used to flavor a beverage and it was what I expected from pure vanilla extract. There are no additives, the ingredients are real ingredients. I will be using this product in the future.

I'm in the process of making my own vanilla extract but I needed some while mine sits for a year. I love that no sugar is added to this because it is in some of the name brands. The taste is good but a little lighter than I prefer. I guess I prefer what's called double fold. I was happy to get this especially since it's made in Nashville, TN, USA! The product has more of an alcohol smell and taste than vanilla. I used 1 tablespoon in recipe and it didn’t flavor the food like the other brand offered by Sam’s. I will go back to the brand that has a stronger vanilla flavor. I was really hopeful because this was a lot less expensive.
