Used to have a pillow top that cost about 3-4 times the Purple. After only 4 years I was consistently waking up with a very sore back. I have slept like a baby in this mattress. My wife and I are very pleased. They sheets are wonderful too. So soft!! Would buy again.

Back in 2003, I fractured my back in three places. Over the years, I developed arthritis in my spine and finally fibromyalgia. So sleep has been an issue for years. My wife prefers a firm bed, while I preferred something able to cradle my back better, but never really able to find one. We ordered this mattress because we were hoping it might be able to help me better, that and the commercials they have a hilarious. The first night, I slept through the night without having to get up, shift around, or even sleep in my recliner like I had to before. I have been sleeping better than I have had in years. Able to wake up and my back feels better than it has before after trying to sleep. This mattress is definitely worth a try over others.

I'll be honest, when I first thought about getting a new mattress I was a little worried about buying one blind off the internet that I had never even touched before. But after reading all the great reviews, doing some research, and thinking about the 90 day trial period, I decided to take the plunge. Immediately my wife and I noticed a difference in our sleep. I started sleeping the whole night through without waking up, and my wife's sleep improved as well. The mattress has an interesting balance between softness and firmness. So far so good, and I have already recommended the mattress to some of my family and friends.

I'll start off with my reasons for needing a special mattress - I've had migraines regularly since I was in kindergarten, due to chronic muscle tension exacerbated by a nasty fall I took down a wooden staircase when I was 2. I've had back, neck, and shoulder pain for as long as I can remember. And over the past couple years I've been working to manage PTSD, which binds my muscles up extremely tightly, makes my body run hot (waking up soaked in sweat in the middle of the night - yuck), and makes it very difficult to sleep. The Purple mattress isn't a miracle - I don't spring out of bed every morning feeling perfect and sprightly. I still have mornings where I'm extremely stiff, and I always have to do an hour of yoga first thing to get myself ready to go out into the world. Sometimes I still lay in bed for a long time trying to get my muscles to release before I can sleep. However, the Purple mattress is the best mattress I've found for my needs. I may need to concentrate to get my muscles to release, but the Purple mattress provides exactly the right support my body needs to actually achieve that release. I don't wake up feeling perfect, but I definitely feel my best (and I notice a huge difference when I sleep in a different bed, and even expensive "regular" mattresses don't compare to my Purple). The stiffness I described is much milder with my Purple. Not only that, but the flexible grid that makes up the top few inches keeps me much cooler than any other mattress I've tried. Again, it's not perfect - there's only so much anything can do when your adrenaline's running haywire - but I wake up hot much less often, and toss and turn looking for cool spots way less as well. My only sort-of complaint is that, because of my small size (I'm 5'3", 120 lbs), I don't sink down into the Purple as much as I'd like to. However, I sink down enough that my Purple is actually really soothing for me if I need to crawl in when I'm having a panic attack or flashback episode. The "sinking in" feeling sort of cradles my body and makes me feel more secure and in much less pain, so I can concentrate on breathing and doing my processing exercises to move through the attacks more easily. Because the mattress contours to me, it's a very safe, comfortable, secure place to recenter myself. This goes the same for when I wake up panicking due to a nightmare - this mattress is welcoming enough that I don't usually have the intense need to get out of bed in those circumstances. So I get back to sleep faster (which in turn really helps with my day-to-day management). My migraines are way down, and so are the random muscle spasms I used to get periodically during the day. My pain overall is greatly diminished. Most people don't think about special mattress needs for PTSD, but this mattress has been an amazing addition to my management. Again - not a miracle. But it's definitely the best mattress I've found for my particular needs. Thank you, Purple!

A friend of mine told me at this mattress during my search to find a bed that would help with insomnia. I purchased it and it worked immediately on putting an end to all sleep issues. Loved it so much that I purchased a second one and also purchased the pet bed which my dog loves! This mattress is magical and it is worth the investment.

After spending fifteen years sleeping on a very soft pillow-top mattress, the Purple mattress has been a pretty drastic change. After a few weeks, my wife and I are not yet blown away by the Purple mattress. While feel like it cradles and supports well, we miss the soft feel of our previous bed.

This was an expensive mattress, and honestly I would be trying to get my money back if it weren't for the fact that my fiancé LOVES our new purple mattress. I'm less impressed. I mean, it's fine, but it doesn't seem like anything special. I guess it probably supports my hips/spine better, because I wake up with less back pain. But now in the morning my shoulders ache quite a bit. So overall, not a net gain.

It's a pretty comfortable mattress. Personally, I prefer the temperpedic that I had before, because it seemed more supportive and I don't like that the Purple mattress transfers motion. However, the cooling nature of the Purple is amazing and that's one of my husbands biggest complaints at night. I think I am just very picky and the best is definitely comfortable. If you have skin that reddens easily with touch, you will likely wake up with your entire back covered in a waffle pattern (my husband does every morning) but it's kind of hilarious and obviously not harmful. I personally wouldn't buy this mattress again but I think it's fine depending on they type of sleeper you are.

Purple sent me an email asking to do a review. I was laying in our new Purple bed next to my wife and asked her if she would give it 5 stars. She responded that she would give it 10 stars and I couldn't agree more! Finally sleeping cool and comfortable all night long once we ditched our old memory foam mattress for the Purple! The platform base is also a must buy! It's the perfect height and is very well built! I would recommend the mattress and base to anyone! Best nights sleep in years!

My other mattress was about 5 years old and I would wake up every morning with bad lower back pain. Since I switched to purple I feel so much better. I do have to say the texture of the mattress is a little weird and takes awhile to get used to. I still get a little hot at night with think sheets but not as hot as I used to get.
