Thanks for reaching out. The bed is unfortunately to hard. I have a 3inch memory foam pad on top to be able to rest on my side. The technology is great however I would keep the bed with an additional purple layer. Otherwise its not going to work out. Please get back with me concerning this issue. Thank you Glenn R.

I am 21 years old, 5'11", 160 lbs, so I definitely shouldn't be waking up with back pain in the middle of the night from a good mattress. It feels alright when I first lay on it, but quickly it causes my back to spasm when I lay on my back especially. I'm a combo sleeper, so I switch positions during the night. But with this mattress it's like I'm waking up, getting knocked out of sleep every time I do this because my lower to mid back is in pain. I'm healthy and have good posture! I wanted to like this mattress so badly (I invested in the mattress and the harmony pillow) but it definitely didn't work out.

This mattress is great!!!! I had 2 mattresses in the span of 3 years and both left me aching with back pain. I lost time at work from that but since ordering the purple nothin but great sleep. The week I thought it was a little too firm but after that sleeping is great. I recommend anyone to try this mattress if your suffering from lower back pain. :)

When I first saw the ad for the Purple mattress (with "The Egg Test"), I got pretty excited. I said to myself, "I need that mattress!". I thought it looked like really smart technology, and I was convinced it would be exactly what I needed. But alas, I was wrong. You see, I have a dislocated Sternoclavicular Joint (that's where your collarbone meets your sternum), from an old ski injury. My collarbone pops in and out of socket depending on how I move my arm (don't worry, it doesn't hurt). Unfortunately, I can't sleep on my side as a result. If I sleep on my side, that joint will ache from the pressure. When I saw the ad for your mattress, I thought "Finally! I'll be able to sleep on my side again!" Fast forward to last month when I finally ordered a mattress (after a couple years since first seeing the ad), when I discovered that my hope of sleeping on my (right) side again will go unfulfilled. The Purple mattress does not absorb my body weight (150lbs.) enough to relieve the pressure on my SCJ so I can lay on that side. Needless to say, I was disappointed. However, I do like the mattress and still think it is very good technology. The grid does absorb your body and provide better support than standard mattresses, but it is definitely not as god as they portray it in their ads. I think it would be better if the grid were deeper (which I guess is the case with the more expensive models?). Basically, I would like it much better if I sank into the grid a little more... when I lay on the mattress, I can feel the grid absorb parts of my body (my butt, for example), but not much else. I don't really sink into the mattress very much, but feel like I am laying on top of it, which makes it feel like a fairly firm mattress overall.

I found this mattress far too firm for my sleeping style (side sleeper.) My hips, knees and shoulder began to ache after only two nights. After a week (I was hoping to adjust to the firmer surface,) I added a two inch foam mattress topper which relieved the aches.

This mattress lives up to the hype. On my previous (rotten) mattress, if I rolled from my side onto my back during the night, I would have a killer backache the next morning. I don't ache anywhere now, no matter what position I sleep in. The time between ordering and shipping is a little long, but it's worth the wait. And it's definitely worth the price!

I've had my Purple King mattress for a little over a month now and my back pain isn't as bad as it used to be. I'm 25 and always hunched over at work so I would always have really bad aches in my lower back sleeping on my old mattress. Purple is a lot more firm than what I was expecting but it is incredibly comfortable. I'm not waking up at night as much anymore, either. Overall I think this mattress is very worth the price, and I love the base that you can purchase for it which is tall and great for storing things under.

I've been eyeing Purple mattresses for years but never got around to buying one. So when I moved and purchased a new bedroom set, I figured it would be time to try it out. I've suffered from back pain for years. On top of that, due to a desk job where I use my mouse to design all day, my neck and shoulder hurt as well... after a few weeks of sleeping in my Purple mattress with matching pillow, the pain is gone. No more tossing and turning all night. No more pain. Just lovely restful sleep.

I have a custom bed that I'm not getting rid of , so added extra slats to support the Purple, but I still did not think it was frim enough and it was too low. My solution was to build a platform that fit inside the bed frame and sheathed it with 3/4 plywood for rigidity. It's awesome now that that is done, and I turned the mattress around--I thought the logo would face the foot, and didn't notice the tags (not sure if one end is firmer or not or if the wave on the side indicates anything, but I love it now).

We had been recommend this mattress for the zero pressure points and cooling aspects. While it's a great mattress, I don't find it actually alleviates pain from sleeping the way it advocates. I also still wake up very hot. We love it from a comfort standpoint - just wasn't what I totally expected.
