My wife and I were becoming increasing dissatisfied with our mattress and after looking into one of those overpriced air-mattresses we decided it was time to try something new. After having a traditional pillow-top spring model and then a more modern memory foam style, this new mattress from Purple is refreshingly different and really quite comfortable. It was a bit more expensive than what I would normally pay but we have no regrets and are getting much more restful sleep now that I have found the perfect pillow to go with the new bed.

This mattress is great! I used to have a hard time getting out of bed because my back hurt. But I'm still sleeping in weird positions and I feel fine. I got the most basic mattress, which I am happy with, but I'll give it 4 stars because I wish it was just a bit softer. Maybe when I'm ready to toss this one I'll upgrade to one of the fancier options Purple has and like it better. All in all, pretty good for what I'd budgeted. I'm happy.

We purchased a King Purple mattress recently and we love how it is simultaneously soft and supportive in the right places. Opening and set up was simple. I appreciate how Purple sells directly to the consumer and offers reasonable prices for a great mattress. Love the fun commercials and website, too. Thank you!

We tried the king-sized Purple mattress as our first online bed-in-a-box solution. We really liked the idea of a reinvented bed that was built to last and made to provide optimal support. The entertaining commercials helped too. When we received the bed, it was no easy feat to get it in the apartment and on the frame since it weighed 140 lbs! The packaging had the option of unzipping the shipping bag and sliding the bed out or using the included cutting tool to cut the bag in order to extract the mattress. Like other bed-in-a-box solutions, the mattress was wrapped in a large amount of plastic to help keep it compressed during shipping. We had to cut through it until the bed could start to unravel and expand to its full size. This is standard for bed-in-a-box mattresses. After allowing the mattress time to decompress, we checked it out. The mattress felt high quality and very supportive as compared to our previous beds. It also slept very cool, allowing me to use more than just a sheet without sweating at all. It was fairly easy to sleep on at first, though as our bodies became more used to the mattress, my wife started having problems where parts of her body would go numb while sleeping on it. We noticed that her side was not as supportive as my side, so we contacted Purple's customer service about it. Purple's customer service was amazing. We received a response within only about two hours via their ticketing email system. With only a few messages, we determined there was a foam density problem with the mattress, which was causing the lack of support. While Purple's policy would void our 100 day trial if we replaced the mattress, they were willing to let the trial continue since we hadn't had an opportunity to really try the mattress yet. All we had to do was receive the free replacement and donate or recycle the old mattress and provide a copy of the receipt to complete the swap. Sadly, we still did not find the Purple mattress to be the right fit for us. I eventually found it to be too supportive for my back and my wife got to the point where she couldn't sleep on it anymore. We initiated a return request and, just like with the defective one, we simply had to get the mattress donated or recycled and provide the receipt. They also had a form they wanted the charity to sign, but they assumed that the charity would not sign the form and said the receipt would be enough for the refund. Our full refund was issued within only two hours of sending a scan of our donation receipt. In conclusion, while we did not find the mattress to be the right fit for us, I would still recommend trying the Purple mattress due to their innovation, quality, and excellent service team. The price tag is a bit higher than other solutions, but the mattress is worth trying for memory foam haters out there. Purple also did not beg for us to review their mattress like the other two companies we tried. I appreciate that.

OK. At first I borderline hated the purple mattress. I'm under 130 pounds, so the floating effect they warn of is 100 percent accurate. For a few weeks I hurt like heck (but not really any worse than the pain I was experiencing from my old Tempur pedic, just different). Trying to find the right pillow was frustrating (I'm mostly a side and sometimes a back sleeper). I tossed and turned like crazy at night, never getting into a deep sleep. I finally found a pillow that worked for me, and at around three weeks, my back pain almost completely disappeared. But my arm/shoulder pain and the falling asleep feeling in my arms persisted, keeping me awake at night. Then, one day I laid on my husband's side and noticed the bed was significantly softer over there. I decided to rotate the bed head to foot so that I was now on his side (yuck, my head is where his feet were). It was softer and more cozy, but my back pain returned for a couple of days and I was ready to throw the bed away and try a different mattress. After a few days though, the gimpyness went away and slowly I started sleeping better. Once I got more sleep, everything started improving and I started falling in love with the bed. After a couple of months, we've officially decided to keep it and have even bought a second set of cotton sheets as opposed to our stretchy ones. There isn't a significant enough difference to us now that the bed is broken in to pay the extra money for stretchy sheets (you know how hard it is to find good quality Jersey sheets in king sized? That was a pain in the rear). I'm knocking my review down to four stars not because of the adjustment period or the sheet buying experience, but because of two other factors: 1). Our bed is about 3-4 inches shorter than a king sized bed is supposed to be, and 2 inches less in width as well. This is not a deal breaker because neither my husband nor I are very tall, but if we were we would be upset. I did contact Purple and they were willing to trade, but we wanted to wait to see if we were going to keep the bed at all before doing so. Now that we've broken it in, I don't really want to go through all that again. 2) I am a bit afraid of the long-term for this bed because the indentations on mine and my husband's sides are already getting obvious just by looking at them, and are extremely obvious when you compare the feel of them to the middle of the bed. Everyone we have try it out notices a huge difference between the sides and the middle. But, they seem to have a fair warranty, so hopefully if it breaks down badly enough before the warranty ends, they'll stand by it. We're excited for our next future adventure! Purple pillows!

I have been sleeping on the purple mattress for a couple of months now. We bought the two twin xl mattresses for our california king bed because I had a back ache every night on our old mattress and woke up multiple times with it hurting and would wake up every morning feeling rather miserable. I was hoping that the purple mattress was the answer to my back aches. I do have occasional nights now when I sleep better, but I still wake up many times each night trying to get comfortable and with an aching back. I haven't given up on this mattress and I'm still hoping for more comfortable nights. I have a fitbit and it tells me almost every single night that I am getting approximately 2 1/2 hours of good, sound sleep, and that most of the night I have restless sleep or no sleep at all. I'm still hoping for better!!

My husband is in Love with the purple bed and all the products. He has the pillow and seat cushion too. We have own the bed for a year now and it still feels like new. Usually we have to get a new bed cause it is causing him pain not the purple bed he sleeps wonderful now everynight. I love it too. NO more hip pain from sleeping on my side. Thank you.

I've only had my new Purple bed for a few weeks, but I'm enjoying it so far!!! I will tell everyone this....if you are upgrading from an old crappy mattress like I did, be prepared for a bit of an adjustment period. The first few nights I thought maybe this wasn't going to be the best mattress choice for me. I still woke up with headaches, and was a bit sore. My body eased into it, however. Turns out it's a better pillow I need, to deal with the the headaches. Now that my body is alligned properly, my wide shoulders need an adjusted pillow! Maybe that will be my next Purple purchase! FYI.....you truly do need jersey knit sheets!! A regular sheet will not allow your body to be cradled properly into the pockets of the mattress.

And I'm not disappointed!! I forgot all the reasons I wanted one but I'm reminded periodically when my partner moves in his sleep and I don't even know it or the day after the first night on it when I remembered I had a new mattress and there was no "breaking in" period.

This is the second mattress I've purchased from purple and I couldn't be more pleased. The complementary bamboo sheets that came with the bed (love the crisp white) are so comfortable and fit the bed perfectly. Even during the covid pandemic, my bed came in a completely reasonable timeframe, especially since this was an unexpected move during this time when it's proven difficult to get ahold of essentials in a timely manner.
