I was looking forward to receiving this mattress based on the good reviews I read. I finally got it 3 weeks later. I've been sleeping on it for 1.5 weeks and it's still super firm. It barely has any give in the mattress. This mattress was advertised as being the perfect balance of soft and firm, but it was definitely like sleeping on wood plank.

I received my Purple King Mattress in Oct 2017. I was very excited from the hype of new technology and a personal recommendation from a friend who had just purchased their Purple. I was so tired of my memory foam mattress consuming my body and forming a mold around me that was difficult to escape from - so this seemed like a great option. I will agree this mattress is constructed differently than any other I have researched and I applaud Purple for thinking outside of the box - that was enough for me to justify the expense. My experience: I'm 6', 230 lbs so a bit heavier than normal. I am primarily a side-sleeper (but lately I'm just a restless sleeper). The mattress did take some time to getting used to (as expected) so I kept holding on until my body and the mattress were acquainted. I think I did have some comfortable nights somewhere in this timeline but the experience kept evolving good to bad to good to bad. I made the mistake of waiting past my 100 day trial, thinking at least this is better than the memory foam! I put it out of my mind and went on with my life. Now nearly 1 1/2 years later I find myself back in the market for a new mattress, willing to give up on this investment after less than 2 years. I toss, turn, and wake all night long. I own a Fitbit which tracks my sleep patterns and the graphs are all over the place with very little deep-sleep recorded. I'm tired all the time and also tired of constant aches and pains that I didn't have before. As I am researching the internet for my next option I came across info about the new Purple 2, 3, & 4 with coils. I'm thinking I'm not the only one with a negative experience with Purple and this is why they are releasing softer options. My biggest complaint is while side-sleeping my arm seems to bottom-out past the comfort grid and my circulation gets cut off. Maybe this new technology would help with that problem? Unfortunately I am not willing to take another chance on Purple - even with the new technology. I'm writing this review for those considering a Purple. If you are a little heavier than normal and often sleep on your side - consider the Purple 2, 3, & 4. Maybe these will help? If not, keep you're eye on those 100 nights and be sure to return your mattress if not totally certain this is the mattress for you. Don't wait to return thinking things will all work out like I did. We got the mattress to replace a lower end spring mattress that was sagging. It solved the sagging and does provide a really comfortable surface to sleep on. It's not the "absolutely the most amazing thing I've ever slept on" feeling I hoped for, but nothing else seems to get to that feeling either. Maybe I'm just not easy to please. LOL

I just love love love everything about my experience with purple. I had ordered from nectar mattress and the entire process had been unbearable. It ended up going from it'll ship in 3-5 business days to me checking at the end of every week from three weeks for when my bed would finally ship. Everyone at nectar was not very kind or helpful. Flip to my experience with purple, I cancel nectar and I order from Purple the bed I have actually wanted to try for YEARS! I had one question with my order and the guy I talked to at customer service was so far away helpful and kind. My bed even showed up earlier than expected! I have NEVER slept on something so comfortable in my life. LOVE THIS BED. It works on my side so well and on my back! (Not a stomach sleeper so I can't comment on that but it would great too!) I feel so supported and my back and neck pain are slowly starting to ease because I sit in a desk all day. THANK YOU PURPLE My only regret is not ordering the pillow. I think I'm going to have to!

Initial review will update as time passes: My first responses to this bed were, "this is so fun to unpack!", "oh my god this feels amazing..." and "I want everyone to feel this bed!" Right after ordering, and during the waiting process (it took two weeks to get here) I heard from a friend who had gotten the king size that her husband HATED it and she didn't think it was that great. I had read reviews that were talking about how if you're not the right weight (150 pounds or above) that you won't sink in enough and get the pressure release as advertised. Thankfully, I am not finding this to be the case at all (I am a small woman weighing 118 pounds and my boyfriend weighs 145). I can already feel my lower back and injured shoulder thanking me for this purchase. My boyfriend says that he's never had such good sleep on any bed he's tried. We will update this over the 100 day trial period!

And by cool..I mean literally cool. My body is like a furnace and this matress keeps me nice and cool for much longer than any other matress I've slept on, making it so much easier for me to fall asleep in. Had it about a month now and I'm very pleased with the purchase!

This is the first time I've ever thrown 'serious' money at a mattress. The ordering and such could not have been easier. Im probably a bit over a month of sleeping on it and I just cant adjust nor can my spouse. Ive tried with the fitted sheet off and on. It's just to firm and my body aches when I wake up. After the holidays I'll be on the lookout for it's replacement unfortunately.

My husband tried convincing me to agree to getting a purple mattress for years. I was not sold and put it off. We took the plunge and he was right all along. It is the best bed I have ever slept in and I get much better rest along with less back and joint pain. Looking forward to buying the pillows soon!

I was skeptical at first, and the first night it did feel different laying on this mattress. Let me tell you though that I feel in LOVE! I'm a side sleeper and always had pain in my hips and shoulders until Purple. Those areas just sunk right in while my midsection and rest of my body was supported and lifted. It feels like I'm floating on the mattress. For reference I'm 180lbs, abd to find something so amazingly comfortable has been wonderful. I will even go and lay on the bed sometimes just to feel it again! You owe it to yourself to try this mattress!

I have now enjoyed my Purple mattress for 6 months and I love waking up with no pain and feeling extremely well rested! I love to travel, and I wish that hotels would use Purple mattresses. As much fun as I have on my travels, I hate sleeping on a regular mattress now....I completely can tell the difference and I am very spoiled!! I am 5'1" and previously I would have told you I prefer a soft mattress, so I was nervous about getting a Purple, but I actually love it!! It is supportive without feeling too firm...it is totally different than anything else I have ever experienced. You should take the chance and try it out, I don't regret taking the chance at all and my back, hips and shoulders are pain free!
