It seems to work well. I keep a plastic cover over my child's mattress and place the purple mattress cover over it. I have noticed the plastic cover smell like urine but I don't know if the smell just transfers through. I wash the purple mattress cover with the rest of my child's bedding and hang it to air dry. It has worked well so far, keeping the mattress protected with this 2 cover technique. I would try the purple cover alone, except for the fact that we as parents have struggled with urine stains and odor in his mattress for years and I don't want to chance it again. Over all I love this cover and will buy again if needed.

My lower back aches less now when I sleep on my stomach. There's no obnoxious spring creaking when I get up early for work so my partner can stay in dreamland and I don't have to sleep naked to stay cool at night... Although sometimes I still do ;) Thanks for improving my sleep quality!

We came from a bob-o-pedic style mattress. It had originally been fine but it had dished over the years. The Purple felt different. It compresses differently when you lie on it and, to us, had more of a feel of a sprung mattress (but ours is not the one with coils).. We preferred it but not by a great deal. Over a couple of years the Purple mattress too dished (we are both slim build with the heaviest of us being under 150 lbs). We notified Purple and to my surprise, after asking us to jump through a couple of hoops, they replaced the bed. I have no idea, and Purple seemed to avoid saying, whether, we had a problem unit or whether they all suffer from this issue to some extent or another. The new one feels just the same as the old one. I commend Purple for their customer service but I do not know if all purple regular model beds will dish. There are two further comments. The bed is heavy and so is difficult to move around to change the sheets, even for those of us who go to the gym regularly. And without an array of mattresses to move between it is a highly subjective process to assess a new mattress when all it can be measured against is one different old mattress.

I am a nurse that works 12 hour shifts and Have had many mattresses but none like the purple. It is amazing! Never knew what a difference a mattress could make. Slept so sound and woke up feeling so rested! It really is the best ever. Love the comfort and the look is nice.

They sent me a second mattress cause my first one was awful and didn't hold up to quality and hurt my back etc, well I can't say I like this new one Any better figured and hope they perfected how it was made in 5 years and it hasn't. Not happy with it honestly

I took the risk of purchasing this bed because of its promise of allowing for firmness wile also providing the needed give for my fairly dense body. After three months I am convinced that this is an outstanding bed. Not only do I find it meets my needs, but my partner, who has recurring back issues, also finds it to be an excellent balance of soft and firm. This is the only bed where I have never felt any pressure anywhere on my body when I wake up in the morning.

I'm typically a very light sleeper and never have dreams; when I do it's always nightmares. Before my purple, I required 10+ hrs a night. Now, with my purple I fall into such a deep sleep so quickly I'm having nightmares again. On the plus side I only need the normal 7-9hrs, and my back, and hip pain is gone!

My first impression with purple really didn't have much to do with purple at all It was with Affirm so far I am really happy with their service and how it works. Now to the mattress. It arrived a day late which was a bit annoying but not terrible. It was easy to set up, had no weird smells and inflated quickly. I was happy with how clean it was. IT IS NOT THE SIZE ADVERTISED. Vertically its an inch and a half plus short. Width wise it's off about a half inch. Personally this is a mistake that is not a big deal practically, however it drives me nuts. When you have 2 founders one that is a, "literal rocket scientist" and you place the specific measurements on your website... it should meet them every time without question. It just feels like a cheap and insulting move. Because who would really expect them to fix a problem like that it seems petty. It just shouldn't be a thing. My other concern which, in total transparency hasn't happened at all yet, is all the negative reviews that talk about the mattress breaking down and creating divots in 6 months to a year. I unfortunately can see this happening without too much strain. Just based on how the mattress feels. As long as this is something they replace IF it occurs at all I have no real concern. This is why I will review again at 6 months and a year. Moving on...the edge support is negligible and the thickness leaves something to be desired. At 5'10 and 160 lbs I don't feel evenly supported and I'm clearly not a big dude. Head, shoulders and mid back all feel really good. However my lumbar spine and hips feel pulled down by my legs and it creates a space where I have less support then I should. This is made most egregious on your back position. Unfortunately its a problem I am reminded of a few times a week and keeps me from adopting a back sleeping position. If you are an unfortunate stomach sleeper like me a thinner pillow with this mattress will probably make your life better, as it seems like the best pairing. Purple 1 isn't cheap and no amount of clever marketing should make the value go up on its own. On principle, the purple 1 feels like a very good rough draft. And if you want to get the real deal I would assume you must get a purple 2 on up. Once you cross that line though you are back to paying a high premium and they really haven't done you any favors compared to many other companies they simply just have a different approach. Reading the product descriptions supports my feelings that if you have a problem with your purple one they tried to fix it with the newer models. unfortunately you don't know its an issue until you have tried the original. One to the good things. I enjoy my purple so far in its softness and support in all areas not limbo pelvic. Its Extremely cool it really doesn't feel like it retains much if any of your heat. I noticed a difference in the first night sleep with a major reduction of shoulder and neck pain to almost zero. The Unique feel isn't an issue for me at all, but it is different. It really doesn't feel like a traditional mattress and I could see that bugging some i really like it though. Not only does it not seem to produce any smell or off gassing it seems like a very cool and clean space to breath. I know that sounds odd, i just find my breathing better frankly when I am on it and look for ward to that. Purple has been a bit to slow to respond for me yet, in fairness its December, and the facade of this happy bubbly company that, "hopes you have a purple day!" kinda makes you feel like you aren't being taken seriously. It seems that building a brand and keeping the name clean is the most important thing. Somewhere in the middle lie, pun not intended, you and the principle quality of the mattress. It probably doesn't sound like it, yet I am cautiously optimistic. I think the issues I have are all lazy easy to fix issues and that is, frustrating. The real question is with all the positives do I want to ride out the rough draft? Upgrade ( no i don't think i should have to to resolve them these seem like problems that shouldn't exist at this level of rocket science and cost). Or find something different. Plainly I like this mattress I just don't feel like i should have to live with the little issues or upgrade. Solid 3 1/2 stars. We will see what another 60 days has to say. Never been more sleep deprived after a week on Purple in my life. My back hurt horribly bad all through the night. Constant tossing and turning. I go to a chiropractor regularly as well, therefore my back is in good alignment. Maybe the higher priced beds are better, but too expensive to try.

Read tons of reviews on mattresses before I bought this one, it is reasonably priced compared to other high end brands, loved the idea that it was conveniently packaged and ships right to your door step, so I didn't have go pick it up and worry about moving it to the house. Well Packaged, easy to unroll, and finally, great support for my back when I sleep on it. I had a back injury that flared up on my old cheap mattress, I delayed buying a new one because everybody I asked told me a new mattress wouldn't change a thing, they were all wrong. Even my Chiropractor told me it wouldn't do me any good, but I feel significant improvement after sleeping on this mattress for 2 weeks now. Not too firm yet not too soft, perfectly balanced. I regret nothing, great purchase. they offered a payment plan and I took it which is convenient to say the least. They even threw in a sheet and pillow cases for free, which are soft & feel great. Overall experience: Satisfied and rested, always look forward to going home and getting a good night sleep on my Purple Mattress. Might try their pillows too, although I like my pillows extra soft, will check it out.
