First night's sleep on this was GREAT! Then, the bed started breaking in and getting softer. Every morning, I wake up more tired than the previous morning. The purple grid is a fantastic idea. If only it were on a firm foam base instead of the stuff that gets really soft really fast.

I'm 5'7" 180lbs and primarily a side sleeper. I've slept on traditional box springs all my life. I ordered the purple mattress and platform December 5 and received the mattress dec 20 and the platform dec 30. The first week on purple brought to mind laying on a firm sponge, then almost a anti-gravity effect. I have had back pain extending down to my knees since high school. I now believe it may have been the mattresses. I say that because after 2 weeks on the purple, the familiar pain came back with a vengeance, rendering it difficult to walk. Never mind the excruciating pain of entering and exiting a vehicle. After 4 weeks on purple, the pain was virtually gone. I then began sleeping for 6 hours straight, without waking. Don't remember the last time that happened. I can also comfortably lay on my back now. It supports the non-pressure points quite well for me. Unlike a box with springs in it. Also, I am no longer tired during the day. I feel awake. I have not had any heat issues. For me this is the best mattress I have ever slept on.

The purple mattress is everything I expect in a mattress. For my own personal taste it is the right amount of soft and firm. It is incredibly comfortable. Now you may be asking why only 4 stars. If you are looking for a silver bullet solution for back pain; unfortunately it does not work for me. I had plenty of back pain from my old mattress and because I am 6'5". Changing mattresses to a purple did not solve that problem BUT it did not make it worse either. It is an excellent mattress for motion transfer though. When I toss and turn because of my back pain I do not wake my wife as well anymore. In summary, it is an excellent mattress for the money and does all that is advertised but I do not feel as though it is a life changing experience.

I find I definitely move around a lot less once I'm in this bed. I used to sleep entirely on my side, but find my back is more comfortable to sleep on now. Actually, sometimes it doesn't work well for me to sleep on my side. Not sure if that's the bed, or the pillow. Either way, it's a great bed. I'm not sure how well it would work for "other activities" in bed. It sinks down quite a bit when you get in so...yeah, that's not great. But, overall, for SLEEPING...it's great.

We bought this mattress hoping it would help with the sleep issues my husband and I have both been having. Needless to say it has. We were to tired of our old bed and was nervous to buy from purple, because not many people around us have one. I don't regret our discussion. We look forward to sleeping in our new bed every night!

I decided to go with the original purple mattress due to its price point in comparison to the newer models. My major complaint about my previous mattress was heat. I typically sleep hot and sleep mostly on my back, though sometimes on my side. I can confirm that the claims that this mattress is temperature neutral are true! I sleep much more comfortably temperature wise and have had no back pain. The only reason this doesn't get a 5 stars from me is because I find it a little firm for me when I sleep on my side and will sometimes wake up with a stiff, sore shoulder. I'm sure the "soft" version of the newer mattress addresses this issue, so I may upgrade eventually! Also, I should mention I'm around 120lbs so I'm sure a heavier person wouldn't have this issue. Still a great mattress!

This mattress did not work out for us. I purchased the original model and while it was a lot softer than other box in a bed brands that we tried, I am waking up with back pain. I called and spoke to customer service about trying one of the newer mattresses since the 3 is supposed to be better for side sleepers but they advised me I could not get the free trial since I already bought one of their mattresses. It is too much to spend on a mattress without first trying it out and being able to return it if it does not work out. I don't really understand that policy since they sell two different kinds of mattresses but it is what it is. Guess I will have to go to a local competitor for my new mattress now.

I absolutely love Purple mattresses since I bought my first twin 4 years ago and a queen when I got married. I never wake up feeling "bent-up" in the morning, even when I sleep mostly on my side. I also love not sinking into it like memory foam mattresses. The only thing I would change is putting handles on them. They are very difficult to move after being packed up. Many other mattress brands put straps to hold onto on the sides.

We ordered the Classic originally and it was too firm. Purple exchanged it for the Plus and we paid the difference. The Plus is much better and it is a bit softer but thicker like a normal mattress. Had some issues with the upgrade cost but Purple made it right. We are sleeping great on the Plus now!!

I guess this mattress just isn't for me. Going on close to two months now and both me and my girlfriend have not been able to adjust to our Purple mattress. We both wake up continuously through the night and feel like we have not been getting quality sleep. She says that every morning so far she has gotten up in the morning feeling like she has been hit by a truck. The process of delivery and setup was great! The mattress, pillow and cover I got along with it all are very well made and seem worth the money spent. Just wish we could have adjusted to the new Purple, but I guess it's not for us. I will be reaching out to customer service about returning the mattress within our 100 night sleep on it trial. Hopefully that will go well.
