It's difficult to explain how the Purple feels because it's so different from any other mattress I've tried. The overall feeling is firm because you don't sink into it like a feather bed, but it still absorbs my curves. I guess it's just supportive, and supportive everywhere. I'm normally a side sleeper, but I find I sleep more (and deeply) on my back with the Purple because it's just so comfortable. I use to have mild back and neck pain that's a thing of the past. My only complaint is that it runs a little warmer than the spring mattress I was used to, but it's not uncomfortable. The mattress also came with a little sample of the Purple material - makes for a great stress ball that I keep at my office!

When our Purple mattress arrived, we loved it when laid down. We noticed this "Try it for 30 days..." thing on the instructions before sending it back. My wife and I thought that was unnecessary. However, after a few nights, we really started to feel stiff and sore...much more than our old memory foam bed. But, we held out. After about 22-25 days, we started to really love this thing. I think this was a testament to how awful our old bed was. We literally were not used to sleeping so supported. My wife and I have both struggled with back pain (I'm a cop/working out too much and hers from a car accident), but we truly wake up feeling better in the morning. Which I did not think a bed could do. We're looking forward to purchasing the pillows soon! It's a great bed and I would definitely buy again. Just beware, if your current bed is AWFUL (like ours was) it may take your body some time to adjust.

Having slept on a sleep number for 11 years and hating almost every minute of it, I finally decided it was time to replace our mattress. I read more reviews than one should read on more brands and types of mattresses than should exist. I narrowed my choices down to 2 mattresses the Purple and another memory foam mattress. After a bottle of wine one night, and in infinite drunken wisdom, I impulse bought our Purple mattress. It arrived, my husband and I moved it upstairs to our bedroom and unrolled it. I must say it wasn't a good sleep the first 2 weeks. But now 1 month in, I LOVE IT! I have noticed that I wake up in the same position I fall asleep in. I have also noticed that I don't wake up in the middle of the night anymore. I'm very happy with my Purple purchase and have been recommending it to my friends who are in the market for a new mattress.

This is my in depth review of the experiences I have had with the Purple Mattress. Included is the observations of myself. Also included are some observations of my wife's habits. Mattress Background The previous mattress we were using was a Stearns and Foster Beautyrest 2 Queen. I had received it used 10 years prior to replacing it. Its total age was anywhere between 15-20 years. Late 2014 saw the addition of a Novaform 3in Gel Memory Foam cushion also a pillow topper. Personal Background Age: Mid 30's Weight: Mid to higher 200's Height: 5'10 Medical Issues: Reconstructive surgeries to both hips. Chronic Issues: Pain in: Hips, knees, shoulders, lower back, neck. Circulation issues with arms. General Observations with the Purple Mattress Weight: No one is being dramatic when saying this mattress is HEAVY. Installation: Can be cumbersome due to weight but if forethought is taken you and a second body can get it done in a snap. Feel: It is more firm than one would think from the videos. There is also give to it when enough pressure/weight is applied. Timeline Night 1: Installation of a new bed frame and the mattress left us exhausted. Sleep came easy. Could really tell the ease at which it lowered the pressure on key areas of my body. Week 1: Observing less pain in key areas. The give of the mattress takes time to learn so that one can get up and out. Wife is falling asleep easier and getting more hours. Week 2: Noticing changes in my sleeping positions. Previous sleeping positions lead to older issues with circulation and muscle strain. Allowing the mattress to do more supporting relieves these issues. Example: Sleeping fully on side is more comfortable that part side/part stomach. Wife has adjusted sleeping position. She is sleeping longer while on her back. Week 3: Sleeping positions have not adjusted as much as previous week. Decided to change the pillow used. As side sleeping is prefered need to use something thicker than a 4in dense memory foam. Week 4: Sleeping with a different pillow has helped sleeping more. Side sleeping does require thicker support. Noticing more dreams than I did in the past. Mid-night wake ups happen far less frequently. Usually sleeping 5-6hrs straight, instead of the previous 2-3hrs. Week 5: Finding myself sleeping longer. Before nightly average was 7hrs. New nightly average is 9. Old issues of waking very groggy are going away. When I wake up on my own I am very alert. Week 6: Feeling fully adjusted to the Purple Mattress. Have not waken up with any lower back pain in 2 weeks. Knees do not ache when getting out of bed. Review The Purple Mattress is something I would've never expected. A firm platform that moves with me where I need it. A bed that allows my wife and I to sleep in better comfort that is beneficial to our health and sleeping habits. If you are someone who wants to sleep on soft stuff than this probably isn't for you. The support will throw you off. If you are one that wants to sleep on a hard floor, well you might just be surprised by the feel of the Purple. You can have comfort and support. We absolutely love our Purple. This can not be said enough. I wish I could describe the feel of it better so that others may be able to decide to make the change to Purple. It doesn't isolate motion as some other platforms. The more weight that is applied the more the mattress has to adjust. The top layer has the bounce back of something that is close to jello, but no wiggle/jiggle or mess. The sleeping temperature of it is indeed neutral. There is no cold or hot spots, just cold or hot people. The sleep that we get on the purple feels natural. The only thing close to this feeling is that of a water bed, without the constant motion. If you are thinking of moving to Purple then we do recommend it. If it does not work out for you the company has a great return policy, or there is sure to be someone you know with a very old mattress that can use an update. The price point is fantastic, so why not try it out?

I got the mattress because the commercials are incredible, reviews are terriffic, and customer service is good but I am still debating whether it's woth the price. It's a great bed, don't get me wrong, but it still gets hot (but the pillow sleeps cool all night) my back still hurts most days, and I keep waking up with neck pain. I think maybe the mattress/pillow combo aren't offering enough support. I just didn't want to go through the big return hassel...

We bought a single-sized Purple mattress, bed frame, and sheets for our 11-yr old daughter to upgrade her to a bigger kid bed. She's extremely happy with it all! She loves the "squishy" mattress and soft sheets. We're thinking of upgrading ourselves next!

This was definitely not a love at first sleep mattress for my boyfriend and I. We were used to a less firm mattress but wanted to try purple because we had heard that it was great with back support. I remember waking up after the first night and telling my boyfriend I hated it, a month later I love it. I'm sleeping through the night and my back is feeling better and better. Thanks purple! Sorry for doubting you in the beginning.

I had a newer mattress that wasn't the highest quality; I decided to pull the trigger on a Purple. I went from waking up in pain on a daily basis to having energy and minimal pain mornings, which for me is a blessing. I am confident the longer I sleep on this mattress the more I will love it.

Everything about the purchase was simple and easy. Once we had the mattress setup on the bed we began to enjoy some of the best nights sleep ever. My wife and I really like the fact that moving around does not disturb the other person, and the mattress stays nice and cool all through the night. We're very pleased with our purple mattress!

Some nights are good, some are just ok. Still sleeps pretty warm overall, was hoping for a bit cooler. I generally don't have back pain anymore, but it isn't consistent. At this point, I'm just not sold... I imagine the new Purple4 would be much more comfortable, cause I love sinking in... and it's just not happening all too much on the original version. Side annoyance, I convinced a friend to buy one and the referral link didn't work. So even the 10 referrals for any benefit system didn't work for me. And he's had a much worse experience with the delivery and all.
