We have the mattress (the medium thick version) since a few days and I can already say that this is a very nice treat for the body. The first night it was hard o fall asleep sicne it was so different but the following night and since then I slept like a baby. My husband too had a night of adjustment but last night slept happily. The mattress is super comfortable and indeed we do not sink in and leave impressions. I hope it stays like that. It feels all a bit like being on an anti-grav bed (once anti gravity will have been invented Purple might be in trouble, but that won't happen for a while ;-) The other tale: When we received the mattress, the package had a huge tear and the mattress inside the package was visible torn too. We refused the shipment and the mattress was sent back. We took pictures too and sent those to Purple's customer support and after talking with them they initiated a replacement shipment quickly. That time it arrived all in perfect condition. It took two or three phone calls, they do not respond via email (also no auto-responder, but they do read your emails). However they picked up the phone right away and that was great. So no complaints, customer support is great. I am so happy with the mattress that I will also get a seat cushion and a pillow to see how those are. The material is indeed different, they put a little sample into the package.

This is the best mattress I ever sleeper on. I have had very expensive mattresses that costed 3 times more then Purple mattress and doesn't feel like anything I have expereance. However I did receive the pillow but if I were to change one thing about the pillow I would say make the pillow more thicker so your neck can be more aligned and supported

I had a very soft pillow top mattress that needed to be replaced. I have problems with my back, and my doctor told me I should get something firmer. I decided to give Purple a try. I could tell the very first night that my back was getting excellent support, but it took about two weeks for the rest of my body to adjust to the firmness. Now I love it! 1 month down!!! Okay so I am what you would call "Normal healthy Human". My partner on the other hand...he has had 2 disc replaced in his neck and a lumbar Laminectomy.....so his back is outta wack. A friend from work just raved about this bed so I did it...I ordered it with the awesome "Sumo" base and figured lets give this a go. OH MY LANTA!!!!.....I didn't realize how bad of sleep I was getting let alone my poor partner. I woke up with no joints popping (I am only 33) no stiffness in my lower back, i didn't wake up to my arms going to sleep...this is fantastic. As to the man of the house...he still has back pain...because of the surgeries that will never go away...but he is actually able to fall asleep laying on his back. Before he would have to keep his legs bent just to be able to lay on his back just due to the extra pain our normal mattress was causing. Now he is able to lay on his back, fall asleep and he (fingers cross) hasn't been woken up because of pain. So he is actually sleeping at night!! We are currently looking into purchasing the pillows and a **** cushion for me to use at work. I would seriously tell anybody who has had back surgery and just issues all around, to give this a try...it does feel a little weird at first...feels like you are being suspended in the air. Once you get that 1st nights awesome rest and just wake up with out being groggy or still tired...you will thank yourself!

I bought my Purple genuinely excited by the prospect of an amazing night's sleep. The ads and the science seemed to be speaking right to my needs. That said, you can imagine my supreme disappointment to be requesting a refund after less than a month. First, the good. Purple, as a company, is AMAZING!! They were a dream to deal with in requesting and receiving my refund. They absolutely held up their end of the bargain. 10 stars for their policies and customer service!! The bed, unfortunately, did not provide the restful nights I anticipated despite performing exactly as advertised. The purple gel layer was SOOOOO cool (to the touch and just in general). It felt so unusual in every sense of the word. Pressing my hands into it, I could feel it push back with support and then suddenly give as just the right amount of pressure caused it to flex around my fingers. I couldn't wait to sleep on it. The first few nights were...OK. I didn't sleep great, but they said I'd need time to adjust. I knew that any day my body would recognize the superior sleeping surface it was now being provided and my joint and muscle pains would melt away. After a few more nights, I was beginning to wonder what the problem was. I tossed and turned ALL night. I simply couldn't find a position that would allow me to stay asleep. Now, full disclosure, I'm a big guy. Large frame, about 280. I've had my previous mattress about 10 years. It's an inner spring with a pillow top and it's honestly given me some of the best nights of sleep I've ever had. It's just old and ready to be put to pasture or I wouldn't be in the market. After a few more nights on the Purple, I was able to pinpoint exactly the flaws in the design. First off, it's too thin. This was most apparent during "amorous" activities when I could feel the support platform under my knees with seemingly very little padding. I'm a big guy, so I can't fault them for not providing more foundation foam. I may simply be too large for the bed. The other issue, anyone of any size would likely experience. As I said before, the gel layer provides support until a certain threshold of force is applied. This is ostensibly to accommodate pressure points. The problem is when two connected body parts find themselves on opposite sides of that threshold. It was most notable in my shoulders and knees. My back, being part of the bulk of my body, would depress the gel beyond the crush threshold. My arms, however, would not. This led to my body and arms being supported to two different degrees at two completely different levels. The pressure under my arms was forcing them upward, while the gel under my torso gave way and relaxed. This caused significant shoulder pain during the nights I slept on my back or stomach. Similarly, my thighs were heavy enough to pass the crush threshold, but my calls were not. This created a similar pressure differential right at my knees when I slept on my side, causing knee pain which lasted throughout the day. These two conditions (along with similar factors elsewhere) meant that there was no single position that wouldn't cause me discomfort. Thus, I tossed and turned all night and never got good sleep. It even effected my performance at work to the point I had to sleep on the couch until our new mattress arrived. I don't mean this to seem negative. The bed performed according to spec. That spec just didn't seem to be designed with larger guys in mind. Great company. High quality product. Ultimately just not for me.

I weigh 300 pounds and I'm 6 feet 6 inches tall. I had some initial concerns regarding the beds ability to support me, but the first night proved that thought false. The bedframe doesn't make a sound when I get in which is honestly a delight. I didn't notice any odd smells. The white powder to keep the bed from sticking to itself was minimal and not an issue. The only problem I've had so far is I hurt my back doing some labor and getting out of the purple bed was difficult. I believe the bed helped in my recovery but due to the way the bed holds me I had to really pull myself out of bed with my lower back in the state it was in. I plan on getting two of the 150 purple pillows eventually, when my budget allows for it. I'm completely sold on the purple line of products.

I never wake up in the middle of the night to readjust. It's very comfortable, and I don't feel any pressure on my shoulders or neck which is new for me so it's a big deal. Before my new Purple set I was definitely a tosser and turner, so now I'm grateful.

I am a big man. I dent mattresses. The grid technology helps disperse my weight. I do not sink into. This like memory foam or pillow tops. It is a firm mattress for someone my size. I am 6'1 and 240lbs built like a line backer and all my weight is in my hips and shoulders. That is where the dents always are. Hopefully this one lasts. But I like it so far and no more back ache. My wife didn't like it at first. But after 2 weeks she grew to love it. She was fixated on the grids.
