I am not in the habit of writing reviews, but this mattress has impressed me so much that I felt I owe it to the Purple folks to share what I have learned. My partner and I are in our early sixties. She suffers from very progressed degenerative disc disease. I suffered numerous crush injuries (including a crushed pelvis) in a car accident thirty years ago. Obviously we have some aches and pains. We were in need of a new mattress. So I set about doing the research to find one that might actually give us a tiny bit of relief. If in fact a mattress could actually help that sort of thing. I was not a "believer" at that point. I read product descriptions and reviews until my eyes were crossed and I felt I had sufficient information to make my choice. Buying a mattress sight unseen and untested was a big sticking point, but I got past it and ordered the Original Purple Mattress/queen size. It arrived in a surprisingly short time and was put in place and in business. The first morning I asked my partner how she felt. With a bit of a puzzled look she said, "I honestly think my back feels a bit better than usual." That spoke volumes to me. She isn't the type to rush to judgement. I knew I had gotten out of bed and could immediately straighten up. That bordered on shocking, but I wasn't allowing myself to get excited. Over a week later, this morning I asked again. How do you feel? Could you rate this mattress on a scale of 1 to 10? With zero hesitation, she said, "12". SHE SAID "12"!!! Remember I said she isn't one to rush to judgement. Personally, I have gone from pain waking almost everytime I move, to sleeping 3 or 4 hours at a time. Nothing short of a gift from Heaven. There is another major bonus feature to this mattress. My partner, for years, has had wicked night sweats. That has been very much diminished. Another gift from Purple Heaven. So...while this is very early in our experience with the Original Purple Mattress, I/we could not be more impressed. Hopefully, our sleep will continue to improve and our pain decrease. I don't know what more one could ask of a mattress. In my opinion, I made the perfect choice of mattress for us and it was money well spent. Thank you Purple.

I gave up my traditional old school mattress for a fancy foam bed. Gave that one up for a tempurpedic. Gave that up for latex. Then gave that up for a sleep number. Finally gave that up and got a Purple. Best decision ever. In retrospect wish I got the king! Best bed hands down out there! Well worth the money, knowing what I know now I'd pay double for this bed. I really would. It is that good! You won't be disappointed!

I LOVE my Purple bed! I have been getting THE best sleep in as long as I can remember! However, I usually sit on my bed & fold laundry, do my child's hair in the mornings &sometimes go through mail/read... the bed was not designed for sitting. It gets quite uncomfortable for my back.

I bought the first one, and thought OMG!!!! I better get another one for the other room. The mattresses are very relaxing, and the pillows, wow! I also tried the weighted blanket because I was on rolled, and that item surprised me as well. In summary, the best purchase I've ever made for bedding. Happy Customer. Oh, also, you got to get soft sheets, amazing!

This may be a bit of a hefty post but hopefully it will help some of you out there as well as Purple in continuing to improve their products. First off I'm about 140 lbs, pretty thin; and I am pretty much exclusively a side sleeper. I prefer a softer bed, although I haven't really done any extensive studies of different bed firmness. I think due to my side sleeping I expected this bed to work really well for me because I imagined if I was sleeping on my arm that it would kind of dig into the Polymer while the rest of my weight was supported. So my arm wouldn't go numb, and at the same time due to it's design I wouldn't be super hot. I basically expected it to be a cloud of awesome. I purchased the new Purple 3 Mattress about a month ago. Initially I noticed it actually felt firmer than my old bed (my old bed was just average I would say, nothing too fancy) which kind of took me off guard. I was expecting it to be softer and really cradle me like I was sleeping in a cloud. I did notice the Hyper-Elastic Polymer when I was sitting on the bed or sitting up, but when my weight was distributed it just felt harder than my old bed. I didn't keep count of how many times my arm went numb, but I do feel it happened a bit more with this bed versus my old bed. If I was a bit heavier (perhaps 160-170lbs?) I think it would have really cradled me a lot better, but for me it felt like I was just sleeping on a flat board. In my personal opinion, I would be very interested if the Hyper-Elastic Polymer on the bed was just a bit more firm than the pillow is. Before the bed arrived I laid on the pillow and I thought, "If this is what it's like and it still keeps me cool it's going to be great." So maybe that's something they might look in to in the future. Like having different consistencies of polymer vs just 2, 3 or 4 inches of the same consistency. I would probably be willing to give it another chance if that was the case. As far as temperature goes I did feel that it slept a cooler because I was able to up my AC a bit and wake up really comfortable as far as temperature is concerned. I'm rating this three stars as it seemed like a pretty average bed to me. This doesn't take into account the price. For me it wasn't worth the price when my bed isn't super old, and I didn't really notice a difference. The rating also doesn't take into account their customer service because I wanted to make this just about the bed itself.

The mattress is pretty comfortable! My only problem was the unloading- the cutting tool was wayyyyy at the bottom of the tube that the mattress comes in, so it was impossible to get unless I cut the whole thing open with scissors anyway. And it unrolled upside-down so I had to flip it over.

While this no doubt a quality mattress made of quality materials and workmanship I'm sorry to say that this mattress just hasn't lived up to my expectations. I was hoping it would help alleviate my sciatica, but it hasn't. I still wake up in pain everyday. On the plus side, it has helped alleviate the pain and stiffness in my neck. But as for my back and right leg and foot, it hasn't helped at all. I was expecting a firm mattress thinking it was going to help with the sciatica, but this mattress is far too firm, in fact, its just plain hard. On a related note, my dog doesn't even doesn't like it and now sleeps on the floor! Sorry OnPurple, but I'll be starting the process for a refund.

That's when you need to get this mattress. My sleep has been souch more powerful and effective since I got this thing. It helped me realize what parts of me weren't getting enough support and now I look forward to waking up even more because it's pain free 90% of the time when it used to be painful 98% of the time. Once upon a time there was a prince and princess who couldn't agree on a mattress. The prince was used to sleeping on the horrible beds while aboard a submarine and performed to sleep on a soft pillow when ever he could. The princess however needed support for her painful back. She couldn't sleep on the soft beds the prince wanted. So they traveled the land insearch of a bed. However they found the pricing and comfortability to be lacking.Then one day a traveling saleswoman told them about purple. A magical sleeping device. The prince and princess were interested and thought that the low price was worth a shot compared to the higher prices the had seen. When the magic roll appeared they hastened to place it on their bed and since then the two have slept happily ever after. Now, to get the prince to stop snoring.... but that is a story for another time.

The mattress is fantastic, however, when I ordered it mine took almost 4 weeks to ship and the day I got it my roommate ordered the same one and got his within a week and was also given a free seat cushion. If I wasn't already so happy with my mattress I would have been more upset about that fact.
