The first night on the purple mattress was alright. I wasn't adjusted, but it felt comfortable, enough. At the end of two weeks, I was waking up each morning stiff and sore. I've always had back problems, and the new mattress seemed to be exacerbating the problem. I decided to go online and call for a return. When I got to the site, I saw the request from purple to give it 30 days. I thought it was only fair, and I could give it another two weeks. After one more week on the mattress, my back problems had melted away. I haven't felt this consistently good in years. I don't know what the difference might have been between week 2 and week 3. Perhaps I just needed to get through an adjustment period.

The ultimate test of my Purple mattress is after having had surgery. I've needed to sleep and rest on my back for a week and a half now. Though I do get up and walk around, I have no trouble sleeping 10 straight hours on my back or resting/reading in my back all day using a wedge pillow I can remember how sore my hips, neck, back and shoulders felt the last time I was bedridden on my old mattress. In general, we're pretty satisfied with our Purple. It was super easy to set up, and a little satisfying watching it self-inflate and settle itself into its new form. Order, delivery, and setup were all easy. I'm mostly a side sleeper, and so is my wife, though. In retrospect, we probably should have gotten the Purple mattress specifically designed for side-sleepers, because the firmness of the original purple is such that I do still get some pressure-related pain in my hips when I sleep on my side. That being said, I'm comfortable knowing that Purple's guarantee allows me to return it if I'm not completely satisfied. If I do that, I would still buy the Purple mattress recommended for us side-sleepers.

My wife and I bought the Powerbase with a queen size mattress and had issues at first waking up refreshed. There was an adjustment period, like feeling after a workout, good but had a soar back. After about a week of sleeping on this mattress, man do I sleep better than ever. And my wife's neck pain has gone away that's been chronic for the past few years! We have not even had this mattress a month and there is no need to wait the 100 days to see how we feel about it. We love it! We got the sheets also and will be getting another set because they just add to the comfort.
