I've been on a foam mattress for the last 7 years that seemed to be working well. However, over the last year or two I have been waking up more and more often with a stiff lower back. No usually painful, just takes a while to get moving for the day. I recently purchase a Purple Mattress as I have seen ads around for a long time. I kid you not, one night on the mattress and I haven't had the lower back stiffness again. I also sleep rather hot and have not had to remove blankets since switching.

We've had our Purple for just about a month and we're loving it!! There was very little adjustment time. I don't feel my husband moving around in bed or getting up during the night. There is very little motion transfer. So far it does seem to have the perfect support and give ratio. When we first got the mattress we had a bed with slat foundation. I think this would be the ideal set up. Since then we've switched to a "king box spring" which is really two pieces. Because of this I can feel the bump in the middle of the bed where they meet. It's not a big deal because neither of us is trying to sleep flat in the dead center of the bed. We also briefly had it flat on the floor which was ok. From trying all those different set ups, I think a slat bed really compliments the purple best.

We bought the mattress and the sheets. We were skeptical at first but both my wife and I love them both. I fall asleep seconds after I get into bed, no more tossing and turning. We are going to but twins for our kids since one of them ends up in our bed all of the time. The whole purple experience has been great.

My wife and I have had our mattress for nearly 60 days. In the 60 days, most of my aches and pains of there early morning have begun to disappear. The mattress and bed frame are easy to set up. We're enjoying our new bamboo sheets from Purple. If I had any complaint, the bed frame should arrive at the same time as the mattress when ordered together. It was not always comfortable to sleep on the floor for 3 weeks waiting for the frame to show. Other than that logistical issue, we are loving our bed.

Research and Purchase: My biggest hesitation with this purchase was buying something I never tried out as Purple only has less than a handful of locations where you can go and check this thing out. After seeing the commercials and doing a lot of mattress research though, I kept coming back to the Purple Gen 2 Mattress. Reading the reviews it appeared to me that most people either love it or hate it... and that was for most other mattresses as well to be fair It seemed that the people of larger sizes had more problems with the Purple Gen 1 mattress because it has no mechanical structure for the additional weight. Since I am 6'2" tall and weigh 215 lbs, I decided to go with the Gen 2 which is a hybrid and contains coil springs in the hopes I wouldn't experience the issues others my size did on the Gen 1. I purchased the Cali-King Purple mattress with the 3" Smart Control Grid. I also ordered the sheets and mattress cover. Preparation: After I ordered the mattress I built a horizontally-hinged 3/4" HPVA Birch plywood base to go over my low-profile box springs and beefed up the lower base supporting the box springs with additional cross beams and legs (17 total! you could park a truck on this thing) to support the additional weight of the mattress and to provide a solid base with no sag. (you cannot put this mattress on regular box springs) Delivery Process: Simple with plenty of email confirmations and status updates and I had my new mattress in about a week. The guys had a time getting it up to the second floor and to my room because of the weight and bulkiness so make sure you know where it's going because moving it afterwards will take some effort. (There must be a reason why handles are not installed on the sides of this mattress but they would definitely aid with moving it around.) I opted for removal of my previous bed. I don't know where they ended up taking it but I hope it's burning in an incinerator somewhere... First Impressions: Finally, after putting on the cover and regular cotton sheets, I tried it out. (The purple sheets didn't arrive until the following week) This mattress has a different feel than a memory foam or regular mattress for sure. It's hard to explain but it doesn't take more than minutes to love it! While my memory foam guest bed is really soft, spongy and hot, my 3-year old mattress (with a pillow top) in the master was considerably hard when compared to the Purple. It really does achieve a soft and firm balance. After laying on the bed I quickly realized how the Purple mattress was cradling my body and equally distributing my weight across the surface I was lying on which just felt amazing. I actually started to fall asleep within minutes. The first night of sleep was the first night in a long time that I slept through the entire night without constantly waking up and rolling around to get comfortable. I am a back sleeper but occasionally sleep on my side too. This bed seems to accommodate me in either situation. The bed isolates movement very well too so I wasn't bothered by my wife getting up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. The bed also sleeps cool but it's not like cold at all. The edges of the bed holds up when sitting on the side too, which was a complaint on the Gen 1 mattress. I have to say that when I added the Bamboo sheets, the experience became even better. I don't typically like jersey sheets but these are really amazing. They don't cling to you when moving around under the covers and are soft and silk-like. An added bonus... for me anyway... is that since they are so stretchy, my wife can no longer un-tuck my side of the bed leaving my feet out to freeze in the breeze of the fan. The Verdict: For me this thing is the holy grail of mattresses. I don't know how in the world someone wouldn't enjoy sleeping on this thing. Yes it may be pricey if you have a Cali-King but some of my wife's handbags cost as much and do absolutely nothing... and then end up in the closet the next year... and eventually the hands of my 20 something daughters the following year. Crazy! Anyway, I've had neck and upper back pain for years and the Purple mattress has seemingly fixed all this! So far I've been sleeping on my Purple Gen 2 for about two months and the most pleasant surprise of all is the near disappearance of my chronic neck pain! Over the past few weeks I've noticed that my neck pain was less than the previous day and today it all of the sudden donned on me, that I have no neck pain! AT ALL!!! I absolutely love my Purple!! I am so glad I bought this mattress! I have been sleeping soundly ever since and have no regrets!

I have loved the whole "Purple Experience." It quickly made it to my house, which was fantastic. The mattress was super easy to get up my stairs and into my bedroom. That made setup a breeze. Ever since I've made the switch, I've been more rested and couldn't be happier than with my choice to go Purple.

I don't anymore. Now if I can just fix the bathroom thing.. This product is excellent. The mattress does not collect and retain heat as many of these beds do. It is extremely comfortable, and appears to be of very high quality. At the site, they mention a mattress protector. I wonder, is it already attached to the mattress, because I didn't receive one? I'd also like to know about the pillow, which claims to not retain heat. The only thing that has kept head from getting hot is a pillow sized gel pack from the fridge. Please advise of the heat factor of the pillow. Thank you!

I'm a side sleeper. My hips would ache from my old spring style mattress. I would wake up and toss and turn all night. Not any more!! I sleep all night without pain now! I wake up feeling well rested. So glad I made this purchase. Its as good as they say.

My wife and I had received a really nice mattress a few years ago for our wedding, but it was a traditional spring mattress with a pillow top. While very comfortable, it had its drawbacks, including me walking up sore every morning. For a moment, while researching new mattresses, the price made me hesitate, but the 100 nights try out time sold me and we went for it. It took a few weeks to get the mattress, but oh my god it was so worth the time and money. We got the regular king sized mattress (not the hybrid) and it is literally the greatest thing I have ever purchased. I will never buy a different brand. I have never slept better. If you are reading this and not sure about getting a Purple mattress, just do it. It is so worth it. Oh, and I've never been able to sleep on my back and now I can no problem. My wife loves it, too. We went with really nice sheets, too, since I guess stretchy bamboo sheets are the way to go.

My daughter sat on it for the first time and said "It's weird, it's both soft and yet firm". I think she summed it up. I have Arthritis in my hips and back so I constantly tossed with our 10yr old Tempur Pedic, I still toss occasionally but know I can sleep on my back without pain. I'm very happy with purchase. AND there was no awful smell like the Pedic.
