The Walmart associate I dealt with was very helpful. He assisted me in placing an online order when the store stock was found to be at zero. The process and my experience could not have been more pleasant! The Apple Pencil gen2 has been much nicer and more convenient than its predecessor. The wireless charging and double-tap are the the main features that stand-out.

The new Apple Pencil is sleek and lightweight compared to the previous version. Easily manageable. Purchased for my 12 year old son and he loves it. I am not as technologically adept as he is and I was very easily able to control the pen as well. Purchased for drawing fine details on IPad Pro.

Super fast shipping arrived a day earlier than expected. The pencil is something that's been on my "nice to have" list, but I never really expected to pay $100 for a stylus. Wow! Have I been missing out! I have a paper-feel glass protector on my iPad Pro and this works like a dream with no calibration to begin with. It's literally like I'm writing on a notepad. I have to be careful when I use the write to text feature because I'm a sloppy handwritten, but once I slow down and write like I was taught in grammar school, it makes the notes nice and neat for me.

Spent 20 minutes talking with the employee in electronics who ensured me not to buy the first gen but upgrade to this model. Son gets home excited and what do you know it doesn’t work. I specifically told them the model of the iPad and here we are and the icing on the cake is we can’t exchange it now.

Pencil is awesome until you’ve lost two of them and are gonna have to buy a third one. Needs some way to pinpoint its location or last location. There should be a better way to attach it to iPad. Like old styluses how you could slide them into the device. It’s own compartment, somehow.

Purchased this for my daughter to complement a new iPad Air she was getting from us for Christmas. She really loves the pencil and it performs well for what she is using it for. She has not attempted to use any of the newer features on this model of the pencil but I am assuming that it will work great.

Loving the pencil so far. I also have used a 1st gen pencil, but always hated having the pencil sticking out from the end of the iPad while charging. I pretty much set the iPad and pencil down in a safe place to charge. Major improvement with the magnetic mount on the gen 2. I also like the double tap feature. Otherwise, like the gen 1, does what it's supposed to.

Do not buy it from Walmart. Mine did not work and come to find out it was in totally different packaging than the next one I purchased from Best Buy. I thought my iPad was the issue and took it in to get it fixed til they informed me buying an Apple Pencil from Walmart was the mistake I made. %26 yes I bought the right one for my iPad.

I have a $10 generic, and also this item. The build on the official Apple Pencil is clearly head and shoulders above the generic: Apple is trying to maintain a premium brand, and the generics are out to maximize profit while winning a low-price competition for consumers whose primary motivation is price. Pairing is great, charging and usage are seamless, and everything integrates just as great as every other Apple product you own. Its responsiveness is top-notch. The generic I have also charges wirelessly and attaches magnetically, and writes just fine. What does the Apple model add? Well, for one, it always activates immediately when picked up. (Sometimes the generic must be manually turned back on with the power button.). The Apple model also lets you double-tap the side of the pencil to switch between pen and eraser mode, a feature that is incredibly useful when taking notes. (The generic doesn't have this feature). The generic included an extra replaceable tip. The Apple model is slightly weightier and has a more premium Matte feel, plus an official Apple Logo. I'm fairly certain the generic has pressure sensitivity, though my use case is note-taking rather than art, so I can't comment as to specific performance difference. I purchased the Apple model on sale and with a coupon for $80, which to me seems obscenely expensive, nearly 9x as much as the $9.62 generic. If you are a professional or serious artist, I think it makes sense to have the best. If you are just using it for notes and annotation, you'd be crazy to spend the MSRP $129 on this gadget. If you can get it on sale somewhere in-between, it might become a judgment call. I haven't been using these long, so I won't speculate as to whether I will be glad of my purchase in another year. One thing I can say is this: the generic is at home with my iPad Air where my kids might use it, and the name-brand stays at work with my iPad Pro.
