Excellent but with some usability flaws

I had a couple of issues that made doing the taxes more dificult than it should have been. 1) when putting information for 1099-dev, 1099-int and another 1099 topic I downloaded the information from my broker. When it asked me to review the information for each, it only showed the broker name. I have 7 accounts with that broker. It should show at least PART of the account number when I get to that stage. 2) on my 1095-a , my column B was zero for all months. Although it did not affect me as i do not itemize, it would not let me enter the form as it was sent to me. (You don't believe me? I will show you) I made up a reasonable number and submitted that instead as it didn't matter. 3) If I leave the "interview method" of entering information for whatever reason, I would like a button to return me to the interview where I left off. Could not find a good way to do that other than getting out of TurboTax and returning. Other than those things, I love the product. Have been using it since I did it character based on my 286 computer under DOS. Thanks

Joint Account Issues

Good product but issues on joint accounts

Turbotax doesn't recognize joint accounts, so downloads forms twice. This means downloading information from our financial institution doubles the entries, which then have to be manually removed. All that is needed is to check the account number with the records already downloaded. This process is troublesome and a shame as otherwise the process would be significantly easier.

Another Tax Year Completed With Ease

This is the 35th year that I've used Turbo Tax to calculate my income taxes. I use Turbo Tax because it is accurate, compatible, and the interfacing with financial institutions makes it very easy to complete this task. While I don't have a complicated tax situation right now, the features of Turbo Tax makes it easy to cruise through the various income and deduction topics allowing me an opportunity to better understand various tax issues and situations. I have survived two audits dealing with charitable giving without complications. The support that I received from Turbo Tax was helpful.

TurboTax Premier

This year was very challenging and confusing compared to the 20 or so prior years. Could be due to tax law changes. I have difficulty reading the small print in the Pop-up help boxes. I'd like the pop-up help boxes to be larger or that I was able to enlarge.

Turbotax was awesome.

My account purchase had been cancelled someway. I called to get help. Watson was very helpful. We ordered and purchased the software. I had already completed my taxes but not filed them. When we made the new purchase all of my information had been saved so I didn't have to rework anything. Thanks Watson for your help.

OK, but inaccurate questions. E-filing is bad.

Software works pretty well, but a number of questions are not precise or accurate, and I have to answer inaccurately to move forward. Makes it confusing to complete. Also, I have paid for state e-filing multiple times, and spent hours trying to e-file last year and this year, only to be told the e-filing window has closed or some other issue, so I have to mail it in. What a rip-off.

2025 TurboTax Mediocrity

We were unable to import dividend and interest data from our financial institution, Merrill Lynch, into the TurboTax software, spent more than 2 hours with TurboTax technical assistance and were still not able to resolve the problem. Also, we were unable to exclude the AZ tax exempt municipal interest on line 15 of the AZ state Form 140, Resident Personal Income Tax Return, from the total tax exempt interest reported on line 2a of the federal 1040-SR, US Income Tax Return for Seniors.

TurboTax

My only issue I had - my 1099-R has the amounts in the "1. Gross distribution", "2a. Taxable Amount" and "9b Total Employee Contributions". I should not have to go through the "Simplified Method" screens. I know how much per month is non-taxable. Turbotax should take the info input. Only IF the 2a amount is NOT filled it should it make you go through all those screens. This was my first year with 1099-R. Bottom line: IF form 1099-R has ALL the info needed please do NOT make people go through the screens. It caused some issues and took too much time.

This Years version was the worst in my 30+ years

I have always liked turbotax in my I think 30 years of using it, but this years version was the most frustrating I have ever experienced. After a few days of sorting out what looks like this version seemed to have carried over all my income accounts from last year with no information on the forms but my name and SS number and the name of the account provider, but when I imported some of my main account providers it did not replace the ones it carried with the ones I imported so I ended up with double the accounts and half of them did not have any info which caused error saying needed attention but I could not figure that out because the ones that were brought over from 2024 did not bring over the associated account numbers. What a mess I would be glad to better explain this to anyone interested. ALSO I really hope you do not force us to change over to your online version, if so I will no longer us turbotax going forward

Import Process needs work by Turbo Tax

Importing from Fidelity was a disaster. I have multiple accounts set up for different asset types. Have individual and joint accounts for both my wife and I. Last year I couldn't get Turbo to import my wifes info from IRA distributions and her individual accounts so I entered manually. This year I was going to do it better. I went through the import process for my info , then had her go through it for hers. I ended up with duplicates for our joint accounts. I then started deleting some of the duplicate entries. I ended up with a mess and finally deleted the tax record created and started over . Part of the problem is also in QCing the import data. You don't bring the account number with the data so I am randomly chasing individual data across accounts to verify. I was very unhappy over the import process. The rest of it went well. Particularly handling K-1s.
