The CA state return walkthru is poor. For such a large state I would expect it to be more like the Fed. The MA was somewhat better when I used to use that. There is not a good way to track your accrued interest for bonds which would be nice. Or at least asking about it. And charging $25 for e-file a state return is robbery. NY may have a lot of problems but outlawing this seems appropriate.

There are some things I would do differently if I were designing the program. I must tell you I was a systems analyst for the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue. I understand how difficult it is to design a program of this complexity. Also had the system go into a loop a couple of times, where it just went back to previous page.

Love the product. Just clear up one detail. If you owe on Federal and are receiving a refund on state. Clarify how your State your tax refund is being subtracted from the amount owed on your Federal tax return. It can be confusing as if Turbo Tax is paying the Federal taxes out of the State refund when you see the statement, this is your refund and it is la lessor amount.

I used the desktop version of Turbo Tax Premium. The step by step instructions for calculating future year estimated taxes need improvement. While there is a specific step to enter W4 withholding, there isn't a step to enter expected withholding from social security, pension plans, planned/scheduled IRA distributions, etc. The only way to make these entries is by going to the worksheet form. This is not obvious from the instructions.

Turbo Tax 2025 is HORRIBLE. It took forever to figure out how to transfer last years returns, and once I started doing my taxes, I was confused several times through the process. Whatever changes you made since 2024, need to be changed back. I've used Turbo for several years, but doubt that I'll use them again. Very user unfriendly and confusing to follow.

The advertisements imply that filing your taxes through TurboTax is simple. It isn't. It is still a tax return necessitating MANY screens with questions. Some of them are not clear. It took us days to complete our return (giving up periodically for our mental health).

Newer format is a bit confusing to an older generation. I tried the online version but didn't like that I couldn't save the tax form on my computer...or at least I couldn't figure it out. I've been purchasing the desktop version for years so I can file my daughter and son-in-law's taxes for them. Online version didn't lend itself well to that application.

I called TT customer service to help me with not being able to enter my1099-B data manually. After a half hour on the phone, he could not help me until he finally said close and restart TT ... and this resolved the issue. But I had to restart TT for every 1099-B I wanted to add (for my Mac version)! And I've run into software issues with the Mac version before (for previous years). I've never had any issues with the Windows version. I don't think Intuit spends as much effort on the Mac version to make it run correctly as they do for their Windows version to make it bug free.

I found it very obnoxious to have to continually scroll down and hit enter when entering multiple 1099-DIVs. Not everyone uses a broker. I personally own more than 40 stocks and it takes forever to enter the information. Why don't you have one sheet with boxes for each stock so they can be entered without changing pages? Also, information received from a stock that was sold does not always have all the information needed and it might not be in a the box format. You have no place for entering "inherited" instead of a date for when a stock was acquired.

Fairly difficult to use, does not import all data from various 1099 forms. Help is often not available or does not address the topic at hand. There is no summary of all data from 1099 forms, so I can't easily compare the data it imported with my 1099 forms. Other things are confusing, like why are estimated state taxes paid entered in a different place than state taxes paid?
