Very good but needs some refinement

Very good product, but has some rough edges that would benefit from some refinement. Entering K1 info is cumbersome and can be confusing. Additional guidance would be helpful for K1s for those not well versed. Also, it would be EXTREMELY helpful if the "what you need to mail" section of the filing instructions would list the attachments required by the state being filed instead of the lazy tagline of "along with any required attachments."

Turbo Tax too difficult for 85 year old

Step by Step has become more confusing in recent years. Want to be able to return to specific step instead of being required to go through dozen pages or more in order to review or correct. Explanations are hard to follow. Uploading information directly from banks and brokerage accounts is too complicated and fewer banks [e.g. Mechanics] are listed. Have been able to upload from Bank America in past; this year all efforts to do so froze and I had to enter information manually.

Continuing dissatisfaction with TT

TT is generally useful for completing Federal and State tax returns however it includes some extremely annoying and persistent (over the course of many years) 'features' that are infuriating! There are many cases where the current year's TT asks me to enter prior year's values even though one of the advertised and useful features of TT is the 'import' of prior year's return into the current year's return so that I don't have to remember all those values. The 2025 TT continues problems in easily completing the Foreign Income Tax Credit calculations and schedules. The problem begins with the Income section where the interview does not itemize more than 1 source of Foreign Income per broker. The 2025 TT was improved by providing explicit instructions on how to manage Foreign Income which was helpful however those neglected to mention if one has multiple country sources to use the VAR entry and to total those into a single entry per broker. It might be better if TT would simply collect the foreign tax amounts, the country source and the income amounts that generated the taxes individually and decide what to do with them later in the interview. Then during the Foreign Tax Credit calculation part of the interview for some unknown reason TT automatically first uses any Foreign Tax originating from a K1 even though that amount might not be the largest (the Fed requires the largest amount to be listed first on the schedule) which the explicit instructions say to 'delete' and re-enter later. Why doesn't TT bucket this amount with the other foreign taxes so the user can more easily select the largest - or better simply fix this entire flow so the user doesn't have to waste so much time with fussy unproductive allocations ? That is what such software is supposed to do for us - RIGHT ?

Need to fix long standing annoyances

It works, but still too many annoying aspects like (1) when entering figures in Forms mode it often bounces out of current form when you hit enter (and sometimes when hit tab) to go to the next entry and (2) still too many places where you can't "drill down" to see where a total on a form comes from (you should always be able to go to a source of a total figure).

Turbo Tax make taxes easier

I have been using Turbo Tax for several years and I am pretty happy with it. I like the features which allows one to scan W-2's and quickly import all information into the return. I also like the feature that allows me to import all my tax documents from my brokerage firms, simplifying the filing process. This year I purchase the live tax advice and I am pretty ha[ppy with it. Once I requested advice while preparing my return, I got a phone call in a fairly reasonable amount of time. Overall, pretty satisfied would Turbo Tax and would recommend it to others.

Suggested Improvement

Got hung up entering a 1099-Misc I received from Gemini for Staking Rewards. When I entered it a 1099-Misc income it wanted to set me up as a business. I don't want to be a business. I googled for help and it told me to just enter it as Other Reportable Income which I did. Turbo Tax should ask "Is this 1099-Misc for Staking Rewards.....then just enter it as Other Reportable Income.....or something like that.

Generally positive.

Generally positive. Two negatives: 1. When filling out information about our teacher's retirement, which we have been receiving on monthly basis for thirty years, questions about MRD are impossible to answer and seem irrelevant, as we have no input in how much we receive. 2. We have three IRAs, one of them an inherited IRA. For one traditional IRA I was asked the Dec. 31 balance, but was not asked this for the other two and couldn't find anywhere to enter it. Inconsistency makes me nervous and feel this may be a bug.

Increasingly convinced Turbotax isn't worth it

I have never been so frustrated. I had a problem with my employer withholding Wisconsin taxes in error (I live in Illinois) and Turbotax was completely unable to offer any guidance and kept giving me errors with no guidance or suggestions. Then, after I thought I figured it out, paid for an additional state filing, passed all the error checks, and went to transmit - THEN it tells me there's a problem because field 16 is blank - again with no guidance at all. I am also continually frustrated by Turbotax asking for information from forms I downloaded or previous year tax returns when it should know that already. The only reason I haven't switched to another software is I don't want to deal with it not knowing my previous information. If Turboxtax makes me find it and enter it anyway, what's the point? Just once I would like to do my taxes without having to search up terms, rules, and explanations on other sources because Turbotax does not explain common situations. Premier should be capable of handling kids in college and basic investments/401K without my having to continually search for other references.

TT sucks again

Way to many manual edits required,196 of them. Dealing with options really tripped it up. Didn't work well with Etrade's download. Last year I promised myself to never use TT again and after this year I will definitely be shopping for something else.

Turbo Tazx STILL no user friendly

Very frustratiing experience. One screen tells me everything is complete, then later it tells me I need to enter more information. There is no way to blow past that error and no way to file without the information. AND it doesn't help you with what information shoudl be entered or where to find it.
