My TurboTax experience I rate as Excellent both in product and the expert advice I received in reviewing my federal and state tax returns prior to their submission. From a product perspective, the TurboTax software interface helped guide me through step by step input of information and provided automated reviews throughout the process. At several times, the software caught mistakes and provided me the opportunity to correct them immediately. I also opted to have a review session with an Intuit Tax Expert which I was very thankful for based upon the knowledge and professional advice I received resulting in a rest assured confidence that I was getting my maximum cost savings with highly accurate tax returns. Finally, both Intuit software and tax expert help were completely compatible with my existing home systems, work schedule, and work style. I give my highest recommendation for Intuit for tax preparation, review, and smooth submission.

It would be nice to see examples of completed forms I'm working on ---it would be nice to know how to make corrections without guessing.. Also...I wasn't sure if corrections I made took care of errors correctly... a positive response/example would helpful.

Have used TurboTax for as many years as I can remember. This is the first year I was not totally satisfied with the product. AI interface is useless unless you ask a question it expects, HELP didn't. There were information requirements on this years return that could have been automatically imported from previous years but wasn't/couldn't. Biggest complaint was with data import. Previously, it functioned simply and flawlessly. This year was clunky, slow, and cumbersome. For the first time ever, I may at least consider alternate tax software next year.

Having used Turbotax for decades, I am convinced of its value and ease of use. However, this year, I have two complaints: 1) Having generated a long and complicated login password (and storing it in my password manager), it was irritating to learn that I could not copy and paste that password into Turbotax; 2) For the first time ever, I found that I could not download my brokerage information directly into the Turbotax software, even when the brokerage firm said it was available. What am I missing!

Pretty nice software though sometimes info carried over from prior years doesn't fit right in. As in a 1099 Int form, if TurboTax can't link to the company to download the form you need to manually enter the info. Even if you entered that 1099 Int form from that company in prior years it is still a manual entry.

Federal return very smooth. State returns (with alt odd adjustments) are very clunky and confusing....really need to clean that up. I file four different state returns and it takes a long time to grind through and figure out how to work it, clean up errors, etc., etc.

While getting the correct info is always troublesome, the software handles most situations. Getting through the submission of the data is very difficult and this year it was not possible. The reason for the e-file not getting through to the IRS was first (the software needed an update) that was wrong because I reloaded the software and there were no new changes. The second (there was some sort of State not agreeing with previous state submissions) . The issue was impossible to find to make things correct.

I love TurboTax and have used it for many years. My frustration this year is that the program stalled and quit (requiring quitting and/or restarting the application) multiple times. I had doubts that I'd get thru the entire preparation and e-filing process without losing all entries and having to start the tax return preparation from the beginning with a new download. In essence, program stability became a serious question forcing me to "save" after almost entry.

There are a number of bugs with TurboTax and also trying not to provide the 5 eFiles that are included in the purchase. 1) TurboTax does not work on Windows 10, 2) QBI form is included with all tax returns done even though there is no Qualified Business Income, 3) When checking the actual forms and then returning back to the tax questions it does not return you to the proper place, 4) the errors at before filing are TurboTax created because TurboTax does not fill out the forms correctly or completely, 5) Entering in this text is hard because many characters are skipped as you type. These are just the top 5 off the top of my head.

This has been the worst TurboTax experience I have ever had after many, many, many years of using. Some information was available in uploaded forms but still had to be entered this year. Have not had to in past years. The upselling has got to stop!!
