A live person is better.

Had to utilize a tax expert - not for any tax assistance per se, but I could not e-file our returns. The linkage to pay the fee to e-file for CA was linked to your tax Assistance feature, which was declined. As it turns out this prevented up from e-filing and accepting our banking info. My recommendation is to make the features separate. I was concerned if I waited until the last minute, I might not have filed on time.

2025 Turbo Tax Deluxe Desktop and Online

After usingTurboTax Deluxe for over 10 years on a Windows 10 operating system, 2025 Turbo Tax Deluxe both Desktop and online on a Windows 11 operating system, has been very difficult to use. Transferring 2024 data has not been possible. Support services have not resolved the problem, all data was reentered manually. It has been a very difficult tax season.

Big HOME TAX is selling bad software/TURBOTAX

Once I would have given turbotax 5 stars. But no longer. Don't use online vendors such as Big HomeTax to purchase Turbotax software, as they are unreachable and have apparently scammed me with a SOFTWARE license number that was cancelled the day before they sold it to me... The problem with Turbotax here is that they can clearly see that Big Home Tax is operating online and they DON'T SHUT THEM DOWN. INTUIT/TURBOTAX, SHAME ON YOU FOR BEING BIG ENOUGH TO BE THE #1 SOFTWARE FOR TAXES BUT NOT STOPPING FRAUDSTERS / SHUTTING DOWN THOSE WHO ARE STEALING FROM YOU AND YOUR CUSTOMERS in BROAD INTERNET DAYLIGHT.

Not happy with Turbo Tax this year

I have been using Turbo Tax for 15 years and been satisfied with the service. This year was an entirely frustratingly different experience. My return was rejected because Turbo Tax said there was local id information needed but there were no local taxes or id. I was bombarded with solicitations to pay for help throughout the process of entering information. I had the distinct impression that Turbo Tax was creating hurdles that would require me to pay for help. Today I received an IRS notice that my Social Security benefits were not taxed correctly. When researching the problem I noticed that this was a common complaint and was passed off as user error. I think the users were set up for error. This had never been a problem in the past. I'm thinking it's time to find new tax prep software.

Better but not great

Very good at basics. Uneven for more complex case

Over many years of use, many things have improved. Electronic downloads of tax documents work well now, and e-filing works much better. Each year I seem to run into a bug or two that consumes quite a bit of my time, however. This year it was an unexpected number in my state tax return. After spending too much time investigating, I discovered that Turbo-Tax had misinterpreted its download of my 1099-DIV from Charles Schwab. Schwab reported tax-exempt bond dividends in 3 columns: the amount paid in 2025, adjustments for 2025 made in 2026, and the adjusted amounts. TT reported both the pre-adjustment and post-adjustment amounts as if they were separate payments, thus double counting. It made me wonder how many other errors like that there were that I did not discover. TT could also do a much better job of informing users about key limits and thresholds that they should know about to avoid wasting time on useless data entry -- such as medical expense thresholds and AGI limits for various itemized deductions.

Turbo Tax can only handle simple, straightforward

My husband and I married on Nov 1, 2025. He lives in CT, where he worked and lives with his 18 yr old daughter. I live in Massachusetts (7 miles away) where I have an in home business. We resided in different states for all of 2025. The instructions on how to file are not accurate and we were instructed to do many steps that were not possible. Fail

TurboTax (desktop at least) is going down hill

The 2025 desktop version is poorly done, made useless changes to the pages for data entry that made it harder to enter, such as Form 1099R's. On top of that, it lists all 1099R's only by the first given entry name, even though I have three seperate/different forms to report (from Fidelity Investments, given as "National Financial Services"), so when TurboTax does an error check and says it needs to be corrected, I don't know which of the three it is talking about!! Also, the import function didn't operate properly, as these 1099Rs should all have been imported when I imported my records from Fidelity, as well as other financial institutions, I had to add them all manually!

Missing feature forces mail-in return submission

Every year I am unable to attach required documentation for the Ohio Scholarship donation credit to my Ohio state electronic filing. (Ohio Schedule of Credits, line 15. Scholarship donation credit) As a result, users are forced to file via mail at additional cost and significant time for response from the state. To resolve this, there needs to be a feature for users to add supporting documents to their return within TurboTax.

Still the best - Challenging in spots

Several times this year I seemed to get stuck in loops concerning importing data. I started by importing forms and then when I got to the respective interview areas I got stuck in a loop wanting to re-import the data. Eventually I skipped the import and got past but I found that process confusing and I ended up with multiple forms imported that I had to delete.

Very buggy.

Very buggy. Interface often non-intuitive, and clearely shows lack of support (desktop version of the software). If you sell it, TurboTax should keep the software up to date and bug-free. We payed ~$100 for headaches. Also, the state return should be included - I feel TurboTax took advantage of us.
