The UI/UX on this version of TurboTax was terrible. It started off by constant reminders to do taxes online. I don't want to! The section on income/investments was confusing and unclear as to what was done and what needed review. The app constantly threw modals up asking for feedback. Just stop. Also, the typeface and leading were terrible small/tight and not adjustable.

I have used Turbo Tax for years and this year was a terrible experience!!! I have talked with other members of my family and we all feel you should go back to your design in prior years and remember all of your customers are not young anymore, but still believe in following the law and filing my tax return each year!!

I like the guided prompts for input. I think some of the 1099-R handling could better, especially when only a portion is taxable as different activities from an IRA or 401k could be combined on one 1099, as conversions and direct rollovers need to be handled differently. I do not like all the pop up things trying to get me to buy a service or that I have to wait for a specific date to upload my tax forms from a brokerage when they are actually ready before that date. Can't we try and fail if they are not really there?

Overall the software is good, I have used it for many years. However, a few prompts may be a bit clearer. I had to do my research for something they could have explained better. But mostly the 3 stars are because the software has a bug when amending prior tax returns (at least the 2024 version does). The force you to put a date that is no later than tax filing date. Which is fine for regular tax returns, but it cannot be for tax amendments!!!! I had to waste my time to print and mail it because of this bug, which is ridiculous.

I was really put off by the requirement to replace my apple computer in order to continue to use turbotax. Strongly considered switching to competitor. But in the end, more than 15 years good experience with TT was dominate factor. Still grumping about the "extra" expense, but now hope for compatibility will extend a few more years. The tack on fees for "e-filing" and processing refund were an unpleasant surprise and to my mind not adequately disclosed up front. The two state situation was adequately handled but instruction for handling multiple 1099-R were confusing as if you move mid-year you will get two from the same brokerage but your RMD doesn't change. TT gets confused and over calculate your RMD & add a tax or penalty, Note.My 1099-R from brokerage contained, and I entred, the 17 characters in the state withholding account number box as I was doing the federal tax. Only when I got to the state portion was this flagged as on 14 characters were allowed. After some searching, TT identified which three characters to omit. Should have been flagged in federal part but was not. Had to go back to federal form. Not efficient with my time. On the plus side, the comparison with prior years is extremely valuable to catch big variations year that may be real or typos or omissions. Bottom lime, will probably use next year.

I'm unhappy with the way TurboTax handles the questions and form entries for 1099-Q and 1098-T forms. TurboTax intentionally chooses to make this confusing instead of asking directly if any withdrawals have been used for qualified expenses. Instead, TurboTax makes it likely that fully deductible withdrawals are treated as taxable income, when it should not be. Highly unfortunate and unnecessary!

I have used TurboTax for over 40 years. It is an outstanding product. It is accurate and fully interfaces with Mac computers. Over the last several years, I have occasionally used the support function. I have found the support personnel to be very knowledgeable and friendly. The premier version of TurboTax has all of the features I need to complete my federal and state tax returns.

I was disappointed. Seems like the software was actually better in years past, or at a minimum there's been no improvement. I expected AI to make this way better but it hasn't seemed to. Gemini was more helpful with navigating the program than Turbo Tax itself was. When I can't import data I should be able to drag and drop tax forms and be done.

For 2nd year I could not E-file state. After a~1hr session with support last night we gave up and I printed to send. This morning I googled "cannot pay with c card to e-file state return with turbo tax" The suggested fix was to go into settings display change scaling down to 100%. Also to lower screen resolution tp 1024x768. I did this and the continue button on first page of Billing which was previously below and not visible/accesible was there. I was then able to pay & fe-file state. Someone there should know and be available to provide, this was a problem last year as well! Last year after hrs of frustration with various support calls I finally paid $40.00 to have state e-file charge taken from my refund. This year I have no refund so it was not an option. One might think the fact this is a persisting issue and not being addressed, leads to the assumption you like getting the extra $. Please fix this any other vendor doesn't have this issue.

Preparing the Minnesota return was difficult. Moved from a second home to a primary residence in mid-July. Second home was converted to a rental property. I couldn't record the points properly for the second home and had to file the MN return with a printed copy. Had to fill in the points by hand on line 12, Schedule M1SA, even though the total on line 14 did include the points. Also had to hand adjust the statement attached to properly show the two banks and amounts for the amortized points. TurboTax is good but some things can't seem to be handled.
