I have used Turbo Tax for probably 25 years or so .,..however long they have been around. I had more issues this year with things than in any previous year. Trying to get my EV credit into the return unsuccessfully and then having to back it out and file without it. Then I had to do an amended return and for some reason it remembered that I tried to put it in earlier and made it an nonrefundable tax credit. In short I had to do my entire return and mail in a hard copy of the amended return. Needless to say I may look elsewhere for tax software next year.

Overall, good as always. Two suggestions: 1. Keep the desktop version available until the online version UI is EXACTLY like the desktop and 2. The estimated tax payment section is extremely confusing, especially for entering retirement income like pensions, IRA distributions and social security. FYI, the IRS calculator is no better. I got more accurate results with Excel and 2026 tax tables and deductions.

TurboTax Premier should offer more detailed advice on topics such as how to determine RMDs, whether RMDs are even required for defined-benefit pensions, how to deal with the foreign dividend tax, etc. Also, it would help a lot to include an introductory set of questions about whether the hassle of itemizing deductions is worth it. This would have saved me a couple of hours of data entry this year and last. And I live in a state with no income tax, so all of that is a waste of time.

I've used TurboTax for decades but I keep rethinking that decision every year. For more than a few years the quality of the product has declined every year. The decline has been very severe on State Taxes. I consider TurboTax to be almost worthless for my state taxes. It no longer transfers all data from prior years. It doesn't transfer some data from my Fed taxes that it could. It does an abysmal job on state estimated taxes. On the Fed taxes side it continues to degrade, year after year. IRA conversions are particularly cumbersome and poorly handled. This year estimated taxes failed. It did the calculations but erroneously told me I had zero tax liability for 2026. It really made me wonder how many other errors in logic the program had put into the taxes I was about to file! TurboTax need some serious AI integration to make it easier to use and to actually help uncover tax savings for filer.

After using Turbotax desktop for 30+ years and spending hours entering my 2025 data it now refuses to electronically submit the returns. All I get is the following useless error. And none of the suggested fixes listed elsewhere work. Hmm... it looks like we’ve hit a slight snag Your payment didn't go through Please try again or check back in a bit.

It seems ever since Turbo Tax went to "download only" program, it does not work as well. Will not import from financial institutions which is extremely annoying. Constantly telling me I am not online. I have to try numerous times to login in to my account. I paid for the state return. When I was directed back to the e-file page, I was told that I had not paid. I had to log out and log back in. This program seems to have tons of bugs. I hope they are working on it!

I was unable to download any information from my Merrill Edge brokerage account. Support only recommended trying again later. After a full week went by, nothing changed. I still can't download from there and I find it hard to believe I am the only customer that has had that problem. Navigating the various menus was not as intuitive as in past versions of Turbo Tax. I've been using Turbo Tax for the past 20 years and it took me more than twice as long to prepare my taxes this year than in any previous years.

At least 5 times while going through the step-by-step process, my screen froze and I had to close the program and restart. Also, when I saved the file and would come back, I'd have to start from the beginning again instead of TT holding my place. I didn't like that, this year, I had to upgrade to Premier because I had a 1099B (which I also had previous years and did not need to upgrade). I don't like the new format entering 1099 forms (those silly boxes - why couldn't TT know I was filing an individual return since that's the software I was using??) So much was just clunky this year. Not a fan - after many many years of using TT, I'm considering changing to something else in the future.

You have a problem with the Charles Schwab import process, If I import a specific document from Schwab, existing Schwab documents were deleted. When I was forced to upgrade to Premier and reimport documents, documents were duplicated. There was no simple way to review the documents without walking through several screens of questions. Trying to make sense of this required two support calls and cost me over two hours of time on an otherwise straightforward return.

Did not use the expert to answer questions feature. It is another expense for people who cannot afford to keep paying for additional things that should already be included in the program for free. That is why most people would prefer to have someone else do it for them.
