I've used TurboTax for many years and this is the first year I haven't given it a 5-star rating. It remains accurate but it is not as easy to use as in previous years. I wish I could pinpoint exactly what was so different but I can't. I love the way it brings the previous year's information forward very easily. I love that it can be used step by step or by topic. I always enter data by topic as forms come in. It makes the final job easier. When I have all my forms entered, I go through the step by step process to be sure I haven't missed anything, then I file electronically. I filed my Federal return but held back on the state as I wasn't quite done with it. When I went back to electronically file the state return, I had a terrible time getting back to it. I fought with the program for about 5 hours before I was able to electronically file my state return. But, both are done now and I will definitely use TurboTax again next year. It still makes the whole process easier.

I have used turbotax for about 30 years. I am not pleased that year after year, I need to split out my tax exempt interest items in my 1099 from my taxable items into a separate 1099 to make my taxes work. Fix This! My Schwab OID forms also did not import and I needed to input them manually. Fix This! And when I went to first import my 1099 forms from Schwab, it requested access to my home network. Why does Turbotax need access to my home network?! I rejected this, and the import did not work. It did work when I went into my browser settings to allow this. still do not understand why Turbotax needs access to my home network to import these documents. And why didn't Turbotax warn me that they needed this access to import my documents?

Waiting for updates to federal forms well into February was inexcusable. Other tax programs had the forms ready to go well before Turbo Tax. Secondly, Turbo Tax language and instructions regarding retired public safety workers being able to claim a $3,000 deduction based on medical insurance premiums that were paid is not completely accurate and not very helpful - in fact it is confusing and does not appear to be up to date (you are still tying it to a pension payment and making it seem like the insurance premiums must still be taken from the pension payments - which is no longer true as the IRS rule/law was changed.

ACCURACY: Very disappointed with the first completion of my return. It showed almost all of my IRA's basis used up by almost $20,000.00 too much reducing my taxable RMD. The next day when getting ready to e-file, I noticed a $5000.00 difference between the previous refund noted and the new amount now owed the IRS. At first, I thought that maybe the rules had changed to allow all remaining basis to be credited to the current taxable RMD (not true) like was done with depreciation of a company's capital investment for that year. Apparently that morning's software update corrected that huge mistake. FEATURES: Entering interest and dividend data this year was a pain compared to last year. Last year both interest and dividends for the previous year were listed with a column for this year's entries adjacent to the pervious year's data. All I had to do was enter this year's data for each noted financial company and then drop down to the next company. Easy! This year the old data was NOT listed and I had to go to an income screen and click on Interest Square and then make my first entry which did not then appear, so I had no visibility of what account I had entered and what was not entered yet. Same for interest, you never knew where you were in entering multiple accounts. I had to look at Schedule B worksheet to see my progress. Why do you make revisions that add no improvement but instead increase my work and frustration???? Third unnecessary Feature: Repeatedly requesting me to fill out a State return for a state that has NO income tax. Some of my friends using Turbo Tax had the same gripe! Your software should know what state I live in by checking my home address to a list of states with NO income tax! Not that hard to program.

I have been using Turbo tax since it was first started. Its a wonderful product. Keep up the good work. But I wish you would allow uploading brokerage information from a file on my computer rather than from uploading from the broker"s web site. Your disclousure states that I must agree to let you look at all my data , rather them just my tax statements.

I've been using TurboTax for years. The software makes the tax easy. There's enough help documentation to research tax rules whenever I've been uncertain. My tax situation is relatively simple - when completed my likelihood of being audited appears quite low. I've prepared enough returns that I'm both familiar and cmfortable with th process.

For the first time in many years I had some difficulty with the product. First on download of information, one of the downloads did not fill in all of the information. I had to go and redo that download, Thankfully I caught the mistake prior to filling. The second area is the interface. It was far more user friendly to manually enter data in the past. The new interface is no what I would call user friendly being much more cumbersome to go through. I really saw this when I was attempting to figure out what income I was missing.

I started entering the forms that I had. I didn't have everything yet. Turbo Tax Premier Desktop started giving me notices "We recommend you revisit the last topic you were working on to make sur ll your info's correct." It wouldn't let me continue and no matter what I went back to, it kept saying the same thing. I went into your AI help and tried thing after thing and it took over five hours of my time to finally get past this issue. Your AI said this is a known issue with Turbo Tax Premier Desktop. I wondered if you were making this more difficult than any other year in order to force us to put everything online instead of using a desktop version. I almost gave up and thought I would have to go to a tax accountant. Thankfully, the AI Robot helped me considerably.

Everything was great with Turbo Tax until I tried to fill my returns. I wanted to use my credit card, but couldn't select the month of December (12). I read online and this is a known issue, and has apparently been for a couple of years, but Intuit has not resolved it. I have numerous credit cards with a December expiration dates. For an otherwise pleasant and helpful experience using this software, this date issue caused a lot of unnecessary frustration in the completion of my tax return and a delay in filing my taxes. Please fix it! Thank you!

I did have trouble transferring info from last years return and the person who answered the phone was helpful. It turned out all I needed to do was restart my computer. Please do not discontinue the desktop version of TurboTax. I am more adept at using the forms than the Q&A format.
