I small problem

Everything was good except for a NYS inflation refund check which caused a 1099-G form. There was no way to add this form without calling it a business income and requiring me to create a business in TurboTax. It was a small amount so I just ignored it but there must be some way to record it as other income. Apparently you can't do that with a 1099-G. I didn't see any way out of this one.

Turbo Tax can be challenging. It was not earlier.

I do not like the changes to the interface for doing the 1099-B, 1099DIV, 1099INT. I do not like having to continually loopback to the download page for each form. There has got to be a better way to do downloads from financial institutions. I did everything manually. The import process from financial institutions is clunky.

Turbo Tax failed me

Never had any issues for years now. Helping my youngest do her taxes and four times now, her file is rejected by Federal and then State. We have the correct AGI and Pin from 2024. Tried looking for assist, but seems you've had this issue before and nothing done. Very disappointing.

RMD is not well explained

We were unable to skip the state. When we clicked continue, TurboTax made us select a state. We live in Washington State, which has no income tax. We finished our filing by selecting finish state tax later. We couldn't get rid of Washington State. We bought the 2025 TurboTax Federal & 1-State, so that our son, who lives in Washington State, but works in Oregon, which does have income taxes, could use our TurboTax to complete his Federal & State taxes. If we're forced to buy another state package, since we couldn't skip selecting a state when we filed, that not right! We also struggled with out-of-country out-of-country social security. We had none in the states listed, but were forced to fill out info for Canada or delete, which we deleted. Not well explained either.

Always a good experience

TurboTax is as reliable as ever. I've used it for 40+ years and never been disappointed. This year encountered a software problem - the program froze and displayed an error message. There was no way to proceed. The automated system recommended a fix, that did not fix. I called requesting live tech support. After a frustratingly long wait, the tech was able to get everything working properly again. High marks for TutboTax tech support.

Turbo Tax has E filing problems for state taxes

Turbo Tax is very helpful for preparing my tax returns. But trying to E file my state tax return has been horrible for years. I select to pay for E filing the state tax return by credit card and Turbo Tax page stays grayed out so the information does not go anywhere. As a result, I have to call someone in Turbo Tax support to have them make the purchase using my credit card and then they give me the authorization. This has been like this for as long as I can remember. On March 12, 2026, I attempted to file my taxes and had the same problem with the credit card information staying grayed out. This credit card is one that was on file with Turbo Tax. A purchase was made on March 12th for $25 for E filing my state tax. The authorization never came down that I was supposed to get. This morning March 13th, I again attempted to E file my taxes. This time as I put information in for the credit card purchase, the Continue box allowed me to click on it. It cost me another $15 in addition to the $25 on March 12th to file the state tax. Something has got to get better.

TurboTax Keeps Up

All went well with Federal and New York State 2025 Returns, Complexity of Federal Return has increased over the years. Happy to see that TurboTax is keeping up. I like the ability to change "Views" from Step by Step to Forms. Updates take longer this year and seem more frequent.

Very disapointed with turbo tax

I had a problem with a amended tax return. The rep from turbo tax, told me it takes 3 weeks to catch up. they suggested I mail the return. My turbo tax gave me a receipt that I sent the return electronicaly. But when i did the amended it said it was Never sent

Poor update made to donation entries.

I have used turbo tax for many years. The 2025 version changed how you enter donations. They made it way more time consuming to use. Each and every item must be entered individually, including date and institution, i.e. Goodwill. This was very time consuming. I really wish they would revert back to the previous process. Otherwise, I would give 5 stars.

File Me Desktop

Desktop Version is still awesome, On Line not so

On-Line version was NOT the same as desktop. I expected virtual look and feel and same outcome (pdf files, filing options) as desktop. Exited On-Line and shifted back to your known and trusted product. Particularly upsetting and off-putting was option at On-Line file step to pay $59 to e-file State or "Delete state return". (!) Desktop gives you options (to mail if you want) and if you chose e-file, state it is only $25.
