Online is problematic

Turbo Tax Online was too complicated and tedious. After We were able to complete the forms; We were notified that we could not e-file because our 2924 tax e-file had not been accepted. This was an error we could not get past. We continued filing with the desktop version, we were able to report last year's AGI and our filing was accepted.

Multiple Payer RMD(s)

Guidance is poor, hence accuracy is equally poor, as respects RMD when you have multiple 1099-R (s) and you need to take additional dollars from one payer to make up for the shortfall in another payer. As a result of TT calculations not recognizing that I actually did take all the RMD, a 10% tax penalty was accessed. So, I am still trying to figure out what I need to input to correct the total amount, thus eliminating the penalty.

It works very well!! I like Turbo Tax!

I have used Turbo Tax for quite a few years...over a decade...and I appreciate the "answer these questions" approach to doing taxes. I have the software cover everything even if it doesn't apply to me. It seems to work out just fine...a struggle here and there, but overall it directs you to an accurate result. If I had to give some advice for people just starting out...make sure your computer is updated to the most recent update...since Turbo Tax changes from year to year with the latest upgrades. Second, if you have a very difficult and confusing tax return, I would definitely use the personal tax help...or get a local tax professional to help. The reason I say this is because if you enter information and it confuses the software, or if it claims you made a mistake, it does not give you an exact procedure to remedy the "mistake"...you are left to fend for yourself. So, spend the money and get professional help. Otherwise, for simpler tax returns, you cannot beat Turbo Tax...it works very well.

Not perfect

I have used turbotax for many years with good success. I do wish some of the topics were explained better while in the process of preparation. an example this year is the enhanced deduction for seniors. The explanation only appears when the forms are printed.

Important omission from TurboTax payment options

I always make tax payments online at IRS.gov. At the final stage of using TurboTax (desktop) I was forced to select from only four (4) payment methods: 1, bank debit; 2, credit card; 3, mail a check; 4, installment payment plan. I could not select online IRS.gov. I called TurboTax hep, and was told to select "mail a check" and then later just use my online method. This forces the user to misrepresent their intentions. A fifth option should also be offered: online payments.

Promise not kept

Turbo Tax said my return was complete, but the rental property depreciation section was not update as promised by TurboTax on 02/01/2026 as promised. Turbo Tax did not flag my return as incomplete even though it did not update depreciation. Luckily, I reviewed my return and noticed the depreciation amount missing before I filed. Turbo Tax continued to LIE and indicate that the depreciation section would be updated BY 02/01/2026, which it was not. It wasn't updated by almost a month AFTER it was PROMISED by Turbo Tax.

Turbo Tax has gotten greedy!

Turbo Tax has been great and I have been using Turbo Tax for years. However, Turbo Tax NEVER CHARGED a percentage of the amount due before. Therefore, I will mail my return and reconsider using Turbo Tax next year. In addition, I will inform my family members and friends who also utilize Turbo Tax of this extra percentage charge -along with having to pay for Turbo Tax!

Verify import data and IRA Distribution issues

The 2026 Deluxe has significantly changed from 2025 in my opinion. I had several occurances of confusion as to what to do. The 2026 is somewhat difficult to use when importing and also manually inputing data. I had difficulty checking my printed records to verify what was imported. Specifically, finding a menu entry to verify was very difficult to find. Anothe issue I had was IRA distributions. Only in the final check brought up issues (fixes). The questions asked sometimes did no match what Ameriprise and Wells Fargo reported. I had to research answers the questions.

Some suggested improvements

Suggestions: !) 1099-INT When adding a new source of interest income, you're not providing blanks to enter the payer's TIN. You have to go to the form to enter it. 2) State Return Instead of heckling me to buy a state return, please include logic to bypass this when my filing address is in a state like Tennessee that has no state income tax. 3) 1099-R More guidance is needed on how to complete RMD questions when the 1099-R is for a pension as opposed to a 401k, 403b, etc. It's confusing to answer questions about whether the distribution was 100% RMD when, technically, it was a pension payment, not an RMD. Still, it appears the correct answer is to answer as if the pension payment was a 100% RMD payment.

Missing features

The new version of the software is pretty, but I spoke with one of your representatives last year about one of the features that was removed and should not have been. This had to do with in input of interest and dividend numbers. Feel free to contact me. I would be more likely to use the online version if the tax files were kept on my computer.
