I like using TurboTax. I've used this tax software for many years. I like the way it auto populates many topics and forms. I wish it would remember some things like information on the inherited IRA, and our ID information, because every year, I have to look that stuff up, even though, I've inputted it on every return for at least 16 years.

The first page you see when you go to enter 1099-INT or DIV info, by importing the forms, is a new format that I haven't seen in the past. In trying to use that new page, I found myself trying to import some forms, and then that same new-format page would appear again, unchanged, as if I hadn't done anything yet. I called for live TurboTax help, and they figured out that Fidelity, the company whose forms I was trying to import, had not yet posted those forms. But it took a bit of digging to figure that out -- seems like there should have been some clear up-front message to that effect when I tried to do the import.

If a filer enters the identical information on a form Turbo Tax should have a pop-up stating that there are identical forms and request that the filer confirm that they wish to send the same document twice. It would save a lot of aggravation and corrected filings.

I like turbotax but it has its problems. I continually got stuck on screens that I could not back out of; the select a foreign country screen for example. I also had trouble loading previous year returns. Downloading tax forms from Schwab and vanguard was a chore. I was never totally certain all the dividends and interest was recorded as additional forms were listed on the screen - I eventually deleted the forms to make it easier for me to see what was entered. Overall this year's software was ok but there was certainly some frustration with it.

I experience a "left me hanging" glitch while importing 1099's from my financial institutions. After pressing the button to download the document, there was no indication wait, proceed, close window, import in process, import finished, go to another window. Nothing. After a long wait, ALT+ Tab showed another window with import complete.

There are so many things to like about Turbo Tax! Most significant, is the ease from start to finish! From loading the product, to directed guidance about required information all the way to filing. Oh, and should you encounter a problem there's help! Do it yourself, save money, we count on it every year!

I am a long-time Turbo Tax user. I find it very user friendly and have recommended its use to many of my friends. However, this year we had a problem. the IRS found a calculation error on the Social Security deduction which resulted in them taking off $231 off our expected return. Also, apparently IRS is no longer sending checks for refunds - so our refund was delayed because I needed to set up an account with them and furnish my checking account information.

This was the first time I did an online download. It was terrible. It could not find my old returns. It had 3 or 4 accounts with my name on them. I ended up having to type in everything (name, DoB, and All my investment companies, payer id etc., again. Initially, downloads for T-Tax updates was slow and painful. A friend of mine recommended Tax Slayer, but I had already invested too much time and money with your product.

Turbo Tax is a great experience. However, there was a glitch this year on the online version inputting multiple HSAs. I had to switch to the desktop version to be able to add the 2nd HSA. The online version would get stuck in a loop, and upon clicking the add button would continuously edit the existing HSA. It was a bit frustrating needlessly killing time until we switched over to the desktop version. An annoyance but not a deal-breaker.

I've been using TT since 1996. This year it was a real nuisance. I've been trying to get rid of the DO NOT FILE WATERMARK, and as of February 22, 2026, with my TT Deluxe desktop software up to date, the1040 ES forms still have the watermark. I'm sure I can get them elsewhere, but there's a principle here. I'm strongly considering using other software next year.
