TurboTax is accurate.

I have been using TurboTax for over 25 years. I trust the accuracy of the returns. This year I had a problem with downloading the financial institutions tax documents. It created a little anxiety, but thankfully everything downloaded the following day when I made the attempt. I do not know what the problem was, I was just thankful it downloaded.

Long Time User Considering Another Tax Software

Too many embedded clicks required. It's not as easy to walk through step by step as it used to be. The feature for charity deductions was removed and it was very cumbersome and confusing to manage donations to charities such as Goodwill. I will look at other tax software next year. Even typing this review has been aggravating with the autofill feature changing the words. Stop with the AI ... Please stop. Turbo Tax needs to focus on FUNCTION, not trying to be trendy or pretty or seeing how many times the user has to click. More is not better. Your loss of functionality and embedded extra clicks is making this long-time user consider another product for next year. This was the most aggravating use of Turbo Tax ever.

Used to be great, 2025 is clunky

Normally a great program this years version is clunky, it ask if you have a 1099G but doesn't give you a way to enter the dollar amount, the button isn't there just the line telling you what the button would do should it exist. It felt like AI was used, some of the wording was confusing (I'm have a English degree).

TurboTax is great!

Overall, your product is very good. For many years, my only challenge has been handling 'parsonage allowance' for members of the clergy. This time again, I had to pay and call your tax advisor. It always proves to be an exercise in hunting for the forms which is discretely hidden with coded language. Maybe you folks can clear that up for next year. Otherwise, thank you.

Turbo Tax was great until the 2025 version.

I have used Turbo Tax for abt. 30 years. All prior versions have been great. Turbo Tax 2025 is not a great program. I will probably opt for something different in the future. I filed only 3 tax returns this year yet Turbo Tax told me that I have reached my limit of 5. There were too many errors to name with this years program. This year the program was very frustrating to use,

Love/hate relationship turning to hate.

I was going to give TurboTax a 3. I do appreciate being able to start my return with information from last year's return. I hate how badly the importing of information from my financial institution works. What pushed me over the edge is that TurboTax apparently is now requiring me to post a review, in order to e-file my federal return. What a crock!

Gives a different refund for mail in vs. efile

I don't understand how Turbotax could import my W2, auto-select the classifications used for amounts listed in box 14 on my w2, go through every accuracy check, telling me that my return was 100% accurate with no audit risk, let me start the e-filing process, collect my payment for the e-filing process, and then pop up with a note saying that my return needed review ONLY because I was efiling. It asked me to either correct an error that it suddenly decided was present in my W2 or change my filing method. When I corrected the error that the software created, it REDUCED MY REFUND by $1000. After telling me that the classification was ONLY a problem if I efiled. So the software would have told my return was accurate if I chose to mail it. This makes absolutely no sense. The error that it caught during the last step of efile submission should have been caught at any of the other review steps in the process. I'm extremely disappointed in this software.

Terrible product again, worse than ever

For years the cursor jumps to different forms when using either "return" or "tab" keys to go to the next field. Still happening. Now I went to save a return and it locked up when I was selecting a security question. It appears I will lose all my work. Continually underwhelming and this is going to be my last year using this product. Totally unacceptable for the number of years this product has been around and the cost. And even writing this message, AI is trying to correct it into gibberish. No fixes are ever made.

TurboTax Decay?

TurboTax user for 25 years. Input screens seem to be getting so simple (dumbed down) that they are now confusing as to what data needs to be input. This leads me to question TurboTax's accuracy in calculating the various IRS forms. A first time user may not catch all of the nuances. All of the questions I had with TurboTax caused me to take longer to do the 2025 Fed taxes than expected. Several areas where state ID information is requested in 1099-R section. Texas not listed in selection screen as a choice. 1099-R data input did not place amounts into 1040 form where I expected them. Input was reviewed and found to be correct. Deleted input completely and re-entered information; amounts on 1040 form were then placed where expected. 1099-R RMD screen is very confusing. As a first time taker of RMDs, I have until April 2026 to take my RMDs. I actually took them in Dec 2025. The way the screen appears to be worded, it said I needed to input $0 as my RMD number for 2025. This makes no sense. I called TurboTax, they confirmed this was correct. Not sure what underlying screens or year to year RMD tracking is affected. Screen needs major wording clarification. Also, why is TurboTax updated every time I log in? If software updates change my situation after I've input data or filed my taxes, how is my filing affected? It still updates my 2024 version if I open it!

Just a thought

Probably have used Turbo Tax for 10+ years and getting pretty comfortable with it. The only issue I find is difficulty finding the location for unusual items, such as calculating estimated tax payments for the following year or specific questions like energy credits. Part of the issue is that I don't use the interview process due to my familiarity with income taxes and the Turbo Tax process. Maybe a link to IRS forms and IRS instructions would help.
