I was able to successfully complete and file my Federal and State returns with TurboTax but it was not easy. I was prompted to correct errors several times but it was very difficult to figure out how and the instructions were not clear or easy to follow. I had to use my best guess about what to do and hope for the best. It took almost six hours to do both returns, almost double the time TurboTax said it would take.

The product is pretty good, and a lot of thought has gone into it. However, in recent years it has suggested that I take the standard deduction. When this happens, it does NOT print the information from Schedule A, which I want in order to verify the calculations. In fact, I think it's making an error, but I will have to reconstruct Schedule by myself to see. Even if no error was made, I need this data for future planning, etc.

I have been using Turbo Tax for at least the past 10 years. I like the ability to either let them guide me or work on each area (I use the latter option). I like that they will start my current year’s return with information from the previous year. Saves data entry. I took one afternoon to fill in everything then another afternoon to review and file. My taxes are straightforward - all income is reported, no debt, no dependents, etc. so I do not know if I would have opted to use a tax accountant if my life were more complicated. But so far so good.

I originally began using Turbo Tax on a Dell PC back in 2006 (for Tax Year 2005). Two years ago, I transitioned to a MacBook Air. I have since noticed that the Mac version of Turbo Tax seems to be more cumbersome to navigate and the text is smaller and harder to read. (My opinion is that the original program's conversion from PC to Mac is sloppy.) Also the elimination of being able to purchase the program on a CD is disappointing. (Downloading the digital version is way more complicated than it should be...given the current technological advancements that are being made.)

Excellent software tool with very friendly user interface. Accurate and complete filing capabilities for my families use. Makes an intense and error-prone process that one would complete manually into a reasonably understandable and efficient process. What used to take many hours over many days is now doable in a couple of sessions with the application. This is due to the excellent guidance provided in the U/I and the identification of useful features presented in an intelligent context.

I got a little frustrated when Turbo Tax kept showing a conversion from a 403b to a traditional IRA as income. I had a friend who is a retired CPA glance at it and he went straight to the return was not showing it as income and I was good to go, but I was a little frustrated that it was showing up as income on the Turbo Tax platform.

I have used TurboTax for several years. We have a simple tax situation and it has been easy to use. I find the walk through process easy to understand. I like the explanations that are offered while filling out the forms. I will keep using TurboTax as I am familiar with it and it is easy to use.

I realize you are trying to make your product user-friendly even for those who do not have a strong enough understanding of tax law to do their own returns, but I am ery disappointed in how you have programmed investment security sales for Schedule D and Form 8949. Step-By-Step groups by broker without allowing one to select covered/noncovered or other categories. It coded all my sales as F, which makes no sense. I changed the code in forms, but the change would not flow through to Forms 8949 and Schedule D properly.I had to delete everything and re-enter in forms. And that input screen is not-user friendly at all. Also, there is no reason to reduce private activity bond interest income on Form 6251. I had to override that number.

I submitted my taxes but it got rejected because I inputed an incorrect Federal Indentification number. I corrected it and resubmitted the rejected tax return but I had to input my credit card information again. If my taxes are accepted, will my credited be charged the second time?

TurboTax handling of HSA excess contribution, removal, 1099-SA is utterly confusing and wrong. Sometimes 'last year' refers to 2024, and in other places 2025. TT adds to income even when excess contribution had been withdrawn prior to tax filing deadline of the previous year, and tax on that had already been paid in the previous year. I had to manually fix the form. A small item like this held up my progress unduly in completing the tax return.
