We hit a few snags in assembly but it's pretty obvious when the instructions are missing a step (for example, when the diagonal braces need to be screwed in using a drill, which isn't listed as a step). The final product is gorgeous and looks much more expensive than it was.

I never leave reviews. And I'm the person that wondered why people say that. I assumed it's either because they may be trying to persuade someone either or way, who may be on the fence about buying a product. They are satisfied or dissatisfied. In this case, I am highly satisfied. The pergola is great. A few minor cracks in one of the 4 main corner posts, due to shipping I am assuming. I didn't call or complain, I didn't notice to I had put it up. It should be okay. I bought 2 months ago. It's been up a month now. Took about 7 hours over two days. I did alone. I had my wife to the corner post once I stood each side up. I attached all the separated parts together first in the garage. Then moved to the outside to set up. Went very smoothly. We bought this pergola a year ago and love it. We actually bought two of them and they were very easy to connect into one giant pergola with just a few extra leftover pieces. It is very sturdy and has held up well through a Midwest winter and rainy spring. We installed our own shade sails under the pergola for added shade and it is great. Highly recommend this product. It was not difficult to put together, instructions were clear and easy to follow. My husband and I put up two pergolas slowly over 2-3 weekends, but you could do it all in one weekend if you wanted to.

If you are on the fence deciding whether or not to purchase, make the purchase. We bought ours this past July and have been making it our own ever since. When we first received our on time shipment, we thought we better check all the parts right away in case we needed anything replaced. When I called customer service to tell them we wouldn’t be putting this together for a few weeks and what if we discovered at that time we needed replacement parts, customer service assured us they would send us whatever we needed and not to worry. We built our pergola for a few hours each day during the week so all we needed to do on Saturday was raise up the posts and add the cross beams. This definitely makes the project less daunting and it only took us 3 hours or so when we lifted the posts. We have received several compliments. The color you see in the photos is the actual color. We have not yet stained. The purlins that came with (top) were just ok. They seemed crooked when we screwed them together. In the end, we added 1x3 cedar slats so that we had more shade. Directions were straight forward.

I’ll admit a little slow becoming a pergola advocate. With the Texas sun, I do want a little more protection when cooking outside than these things natively offer. This 12x20 monster replaces a pair of 10x13 canopies. The wind has blown here more this year than in the past 60 years. My cheap canopies didn’t stand a chance. The vibration from the wind loosened half the screws and both simply collapsed. And they acted like sails before collapsing. The family joke was me getting everyone to help move them back into place at family gatherings. This baby is over 700 lbs and rated for 100 mph winds. I cannot imagine it moving for some wimpy 40 mph breeze. I need to conjure up some Sun/rain protection, but I am beyond thrilled with it. I ordered the installation when I purchased the pergola. A precise date/time was set for the installation from emails they were coming from Back Yard Discovery. However, when the installers arrived without the pergola at the appointed hour, I realized there was a disconnect somewhere. The pergola magically arrived Friday before the 4th of July weekend. I called the installers back and darned if they didn’t come Saturday morning to install this thing. They just left. Other than signing their paperwork, I actually haven’t goner over it closely yet. But the installers were punctual, polite, and very, very efficient. This is the summer for backyard projects that I have anticipated for a long time. This pergola is key to housing my entire outside cooking world and to have it dine in time for the 4th of July makes me very happy. Thanks to everyone involved!

I bought this pergola at the end of last year and installed it myself. The delivery was smooth and building the pergola was not too difficult. There were a few times I needed another person to help, but it went quickly. We chose to wrap the tops with vines to add a little more shade and greenery to the yard. It has been our favorite place to hang out around a fire pit during the winter and now hang out in the evening during the warmer months.

My wife and I was looking to dress up our back porch off of our home. We saw this Pergola in a Sam's flyer. It was a nice fit. It allowed my wife to dress up our back porch and provided a wonder place to drink coffee in the morning. It did take longer to build then the manual says and it took three people but it was well worth it. We love it! And we have received many compliments not only from family and friends but even strangers who have pulled in the driveway and told us how nice our porch looks!

I will update this post later with pictures of the finished assembly, but I want to start my review now by saying what a responsive company they are. I had questions about the pergola we bought, and the people who responded were awesome. They answered my quedstions both quickly and thoroughly. I started by unboxing everything in the garage, and then sorting adn counting everything. It was all there, and it all looked great. Then, as the instructions suggest, I used a water sealer on every piece to protect the wood. We still have some assembly work to complete, but then I will update this review with photos and final thoughts. So far, though, it's going very well.

Mine has been up for 2 months now and it has completely transformed my patio. Installation is a breeze if you can follow simple directions and take your time. My wife and I put our pergola together in about 4-5 hours. The quality of the materials is much more nicer than any other pergola kit I have seen at the big box stores, I’m confident it will last for many years.

We built the pergola and it is sturdy a beautiful. It's no ones fault but my own but it isn't as big as I was wanting, it measures from the widest spot which isn't the post. It also didn't give me as much shade as I was hoping for. I added a sun shade to the top and curtains to the sides and I am going to make it work. It does add beauty to the patio.
