It has come a long way

The best thing that I liked about this year's tax return is that I was able to pull all the information with the exception of a few banks all of the interest in all the dividends and all of the sales of stock and we're automatically transferred into the return I feel that is great. I also sent in a note about my state income tax and you charging me $15 to file it I do not feel this is correct tha thank you. thank you.

We love hearing that the process felt effortless for you. Taxes are complicated enough, so we’ve designed our interface to take the guesswork out of every step.

RMD issue and lack of chromebook compatability.

Home and Business (1) It does not handle where TP has two accounts and uses one of them to satisfy the RMD amount for both of them. Requires an override to show total RMD for both and total distributions for both in order to eliminate the RMD penalty. (2) It really should be designed so it can be prepared on chromebook.

Summary Screen questions

First time in 20 years I had an issue with the accuracy of the information displayed using the installed software. The software begins by assuming you will use the standard deduction as you enter each deduction. When I got to the summary screen it stated that based on my input the standard deduction would get me the best return. Hitting the continue button produced a new summary screen that stated my return would be from using my itemized deductions. This created a lot of confusion and took several cycles going back and forth before the summary screens agreed and the tally in the upper left of every screen agreed with the summary screens. Also when entering energy credit, this total is not shown as a tax credit item on the summary screen but is included in the sum total number. It is confusing to see a total that does not equate to the sum of the items listed in the summary.

TurboTax flaw in the online version

I tried to do my taxes this year on line (at turbotax encouragement). When I got almost done something was missing. I am a long time used of turbotax and have always used the previous years return to catch any thing that I might have missed. Since I could not see the forms like in the desktop version I attempted to go back to that mode. I tried everything for awhile and then called support. They told me that you could do that but needed to start all over since the information input could not be transferred to the desktop version. It clearly said that if I did not like the online version I could always go back to the desktop version. The material conveniently did not mention but you would have to start all over again. So I ended up doing my taxes TWICE this year. Anything that makes me do things twice in order to complete is going to get a poor rating from me!

Turbo tax is very good

It works for me and I did 2 farms, a real estate investment, and an out of country filer. I've only found a few things where it does'nt ask proper questions to get you to the right form.. One being schedule FC-a on the Wisconsin form and another that doesn't give you a way to enter info on the first page of 4797.. Otherwise it works well.

Love it; I can do taxes on my own!

I have been very happy with TurboTax for the last 20 years. There have been some minor issues, but I do a little research and find a resolution in the TurboTax help. I was very disappointed this year to see It's Deductible is gone. That was a great feature that I always told people about. I was also frustrated when I started 2025 taxes and kept getting routed to the online version using expert advice. Most people use TurboTax because they don't need the expert advice. Please continue building a product for those of us who are comfortable using TurboTax without expert advice.

Idiots in Congress need to write Logical Tax laws.

Buggy. K1s with Box 20 having "Z *STMT" lead to failure to e-file. Seems this is a QBI worksheet issue that TURBOTAX should fix. I know that the idiots in Congress write Tax laws that aren't logical and better yet they pass it on to IRS at the last minute, giving programmers too little time to get even basic bugs out. BUT, the $100 tax reduction that I spend 100 hours pursuing in NOT Worth it. So, whose fault is it. Congres, IRS, TurboTax probably. BUT NOT ME.

2025 Tax Year Step-by-Step Disappointing

I've been using TurboTax for decades and the user interface for 2025 Tax Year was a disappointment. The Step-by-Step interview had numerous errors ranging from incorrect questions to confusing internal jump-to results. I spent an inordinate amount of time switching back and forth to Forms, reading department of revenue tax instructions, visiting the user forum, and figuring out workarounds. After extensive manual review, I feel confident in the computations but my confidence and patience have been sorely tested.

What a pain!!!

Many good experiences over maybe 10 or more years using. However, Turbo Tax could NOT handle 1095A Insurance marketplace form and the subsequent Form 8962 because two persons (my son and his daughter) were insured. The daughter got married and was no longer a 2025 dependent. Information was complete and entered for both,; as well as a percentage of total fees divided amongst the two insureds. However, Turbo Tax could not reconcile the errors it projected (not existent) and we were required to file by mail. We had already paid the $25 Colorado e-filing fee. Please credit us this fee to use on my own return to be filed for 2025. Thank you!

Just okay

I'm not really getting the tax help I need as a S corp owner. For instance, I have to manually add form I-335 for South Carolina, and I have to file by mail because the form isn't included for filing electronically. I need more assistance on the self-employment health insurance deduction. I figured that out this year and filed an amended tax return for last year. Better than nothing, but I'm left wondering what other things I may have missed.
