You have to use the Google Home app for notifications and alerts. The biggest downside is a monthly or yearly fee to keep the recordings past a few hours and to use advanced features. Just another cost in an already packed expense-filled life.

The directions were very clear and had a QR code for further instructions as well as an instructional video which was very helpful for someone who is not tech savvy, such as myself. This item came to packaged very well, probably the best packaging of an electronic I've ever received. This came with everything you needed to mount this in your house, which is perfect. Overall this is a great product and easy to install

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] There are a few things I love about this camera. First, it connects with the Google Home app so it's in the same place as my other Google devices. Also, I love that you can set it to only turn on when it senses that nobody is home, and also only send notifications when it senses movement during a time that nobody is home. So far it seems to be pretty accurate at sending those things. I also appreciate that it comes with hardware to mount it to the wall or ceiling. I intend to just leave it on the kitchen counter because from there it can see the whole living/kitchen/dining area of our home, but it's nice that it is versatile. The setup/installation didn't work correctly the first time and I'm not sure why, but I deleted the device and started over and the second time it worked great and was super easy. Overall, feeling good about the added security.

The alerts are very useful for someone who need to be aware of all movements. Great image quality and sound!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This nest cam by Google home is wired and the third generation. Unboxing this camera. I first noticed that it seems to be very high quality. It was heavy and seems to be made very well. The cord that comes with it to plug it in is about 10 ft long and is skinny enough to be able to be hidden behind furniture. However, if you do want to mount this camera you will need to find a way to hide the wire so it doesn't show. The camera can be mounted to the wall or you can just sit it on a piece of furniture. The camera was very easy to set up. You just plug it in and open the Google home app and set it up from there on your phone. This camera does include audio and video. The camera quality is very good. You can see everything even in lower light and you can speak to people over the camera as well and hear their responses. The camera does provide notifications of movement and can even tell you if it is a person or just movement. I really like this camera and I will get a lot of use out of it inside my home. However, my only complaint is that to use all of its functionality you need to pay for a subscription service through Google.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Up until recently, I had refrained from keeping cameras indoors for my household, primarily due to a mixture of privacy and lack of necessity. This lack quickly turned into a need after adopting a troublesome puppy, whom I choose to let free roam the house while I am away. And with work gradually shifting back into return-to-office, this means my dog's alone time is gradually growing. Because of this, I felt a need to have some observation of him during the workday. The Nest Cam has suited this need excellently thus far. I currently have my Nest Cam resting on my TV cabinet, where it can provide a surprisingly wide view of the entire living room where my dog predominantly resides. For the occasional nights I need to leave him alone, the IR night cam offers great video quality whenever I need to check in. Lastly, the event detection has been pretty useful thus far in notifying me when he awakes from his naps to play with toys or misbehave around the house. The other initial reservation I had for an indoor camera was privacy. The idea of a live server-backed camera always on while I'm home felt uncomfortable. Luckily, the Nest Cam does offer a reasonable solution to this qualm with automated scheduling. Being able to disable/enable the cam according to my schedule eases my mind of concern and hassle. Overall, I am very satisfied with the Nest Cam and how it has served my household. From the initial Google Home integration setup, to the various camera/app features, I can confidently say the Nest Cam has more than met my needs and has furthermore exceeded my expectations.
