Not sure if we got a bad batch, or what, since this was our first time buying whole bean French Roast at Sam's Club. The beans smelled and looked wonderful, but the taste was bitter and NO good, no matter which setting we used on our professional grade coffee machine.

Having to grind beans is an extra step sometimes people don't have in their busy life. But fresh ground coffee is a big deal for a lot of people. This coffee is definitely fine. Good flavor. Not bitter. Actually for a dark roast, you get the nice dark notes without getting too much bitterness. So I definitely recommend the coffee. If you are person who can taste the difference between fresh ground and buying pre-ground, then you'll probably enjoy this coffee. Any marks against it are because of the fact that it needs to be ground and also that the directions on the bag are very odd.

The coffee itself has a fantastic aroma and a very strong smooth taste! It does not have some of the bitter flavors that some dark roasts have. It is an awesome way to start the day! It is easy to divvy up into portions for each serving and grinding. I used a french press and super happy with my cup!

A very delicious cup of brew. First time in many years tried a whole bean coffee not already ground. Also, normally not a dark coffee roast person. Really enjoyed this coffee. Not over powering. Good taste with a mild flavor profile of chocolate.

Omg. The smell alone will get you and yes it taste just as good as it smells. Its bold and flavorful. The beans are a dark rich brown. Full of flavor. Its a 40oz bag. Love that its resealable so it stays fresh. Although it tasts so good it won't last long.

Here's my review: The coffee beans, at first sight were nice, dark, and shiny. The aroma released after grinding beans was the refreshing smell of coffee. The coffee flavor was bold, which is what one expects from dark roast. Really good coffee! Love that they sell in whole beans so I can grind myself.

This bag is sealed very well to ensure freshness and comes with a wire closure to keep it sealed once open. The beans were easy to grind and didn't leave any large pieces. The aroma is amazing when it's being brewed and the taste is just as good, if not better than name brand coffee beans.

If you love a full bodied coffee, this is the coffee for you. I enjoy a medium roast so I needed to reduce the amount of grounds to make it more to my taste. My son loves a bold coffee and this was right in just what he loved! Can't beat this good coffee for the price point and the aroma is amazing.
