Much improved brightness and sound.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this OLED 65" G5 tv a week ago, upscaling from a 2024 G5 55" tv. The 65-inch LG G5 OLED TV is a brilliant flagship display. It stars a Primary RGB Tandem panel with an innovative 'Brightness Booster Ultimate' and the α11 AI Processor Gen2, delivering massive brightness, peerless contrast, 165Hz gaming support, and smart webOS features. There is incredible brightness, utilizing a 4-layer tandem design that leaps past older MLA panels, hitting extreme HDR peaks that easily rival bright-room LED options. Offering self-lit pixels providing near-infinite contrast and zero blooming around highlights. With α11 AI processing, pixel-level analysis provides pristine upscaling and sharp texture enhancement, though aggressive settings can occasionally look over-sharpened. The tv has great design and gaming capabilities. My G5 tv includes a classy stand though it can be wall mounted for a flush, gapless wall display and has razor-thin bezel and great overall LG design uniformity. Although I don't use the tv for gaming purposes this G5 has superb gaming capabilities with 4 full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports supporting 4K at 165Hz, VRR, G-Sync, and FreeSync. The G5 has much improved audio with smart interface virtual surround, powered by a 60W 4.2-channel system utilizing AI Sound Pro to upmix audio into virtual 11.1.2 channels. I have, however, bought an LG home cinema sound system with Dolby Atmos to get the very best audio. The G5 runs the latest webOS 25 with deep AI personalization and is highly responsive, though the heavy menu navigation and redesigned remote (which drops the dedicated input button and the outdated number buttons) can still feel a bit cluttered. Overall, this is a superb OLED tv which delivers on all fronts. No regrets at all in purchasing it, well worth the investment.

Outstanding TV

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After using the LG G5 TV for a month, I can honestly say it has been one of the most impressive television upgrades I have ever made. Having previously owned both an early LG Full HD flagship TV and later an LG SUHD TV, I had high expectations, but the G5 has exceeded them in every area. The first thing that stands out is the picture quality. The brightness, contrast, and colour reproduction are exceptional, delivering a viewing experience that feels incredibly lifelike. Whether watching movies, streaming series, or enjoying sports, the level of detail and sharpness is remarkable. The clarity is on another level compared to my previous TVs, making everything look cleaner, smoother, and more immersive. Even regular YouTube videos seem significantly enhanced. Another pleasant surprise has been the sound system. In the past, I often felt that TV speakers were great, with my SUHD model having Harmon Kardon speakers, but the LG G5 blows you away delivers rich, clear, and well-balanced audio. Dialogue comes through crisply, while action scenes and sporting events have a depth and presence that make them much more engaging. Although a dedicated audio system can always add more power and base, the built-in sound quality is excellent for everyday viewing and listening to music. The highlight of my first month with the TV was watching the World Cup. The experience was outstanding. The vivid colours of the pitch, the sharp detail of player movements, and the smooth handling of fast-paced action made every match feel incredibly realistic. Combined with the impressive audio, the atmosphere of the stadium came alive in my living room. The only downgrade I would say is the TV remote, whilst I have always loved the magic remotes since LG released them, I think the G5s remote is a disappointment. Overall, the LG G5 represents a huge leap forward from both my earlier LG Full HD flagship and SUHD televisions. It offers outstanding picture quality, exceptional clarity, and impressive sound performance. After one month of ownership, I am extremely satisfied and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a premium television experience. Whilst Sony and Samsung offer great options, I believe LG are ahead of the game and would recommend LG TVs to anyone looking to purchase.

Disappointing :(

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] To get straight to the point…. Picture quality and sound quality are amazing. There are a lot of options in settings. It sits flat against the wall. However, the operative system (web iOS I believe) is quite disappointing and annoying. “Home Screen” several section that if you don’t need, you can’t remove. For example there is a “card section” for various services. Even though you can remove all the “cards” you are still left with massive notification “add cards…”. Above all there is a random photo with a notification “start new experience…” and “go to apps”. I don’t understand why that is there. I’m already using apps which are displayed directly underneath and also I have been using TV for quite some time so there is no need for “welcome to webOS”. Below that there are shortcuts to “device functions” aka guides for new users. Once again, there is no need for that as I have been using tv and yet you can’t remove that either. All in all, this webOS reminds me of early android phones that had loads of bloatware and you couldn’t remove it. If I knew this upfront I would have not purchased this TV, now I’m stuck with a premium product that operates like a low end android phone.

Great picture

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The picture quality is outstanding. We use a sound bar so cannot comment on the sound quality. I had read that the user interface was difficult to use, but I honestly haven’t had any problems with it.

Lg G5 65 tv

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought the lg G5 65inch very very good tv. Have to mess around with the setting a lot to get the picture correct and stop the soap screen effect. For the cost of it I did expect slightly better for the top dog. The brightness is fab and little glare too. Reason for 4 star is the cost of it. Also be aware that when removing the packaging you can get a static electric shock from the tv

Outstanding OLED TV

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unbelievable Picture Quality! I haven't upgraded my TV for about 7 years, and can't believe how far we've come. This TV far exceeded all expectations, and since seeing it several family members are now saving for a new LG OLED. Can't recommend this highly enough.

Fantastic TV - AAA product - pure cinema

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this TV - fantastic viewing experience, good sound too (for TV speakers) and it's user-face is really easy to use. The flush wall mount is great as well - I was sceptical at first but it looks great in the living room. I hope it holds up for years to come.

Could be better

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice TV but very confusing systems, not intuitive at all, and it doesn't link automatically to the soundbar. Whenever Alexa is used, the sound goes completely off even though the volume is turned up.

Adequate

It’s an excellent TV - but you expect that for the price. I’ve taken a star off because: 1) the screen is very glossy and reflective - makes it hard to get the best except in pitch black conditions. 2) the brushed aluminium trim round the outside of the bezel is ‘meh’ given the bezel is black, the TV is black, the trim should also be black. As it is, it catches the eye and not in a good way. 3) the screen is not flat. Nothing that effects the performance as a TV and I’m sure it’s within tolerance, but side on you can see the distortions in the reflections from the slight ‘hills and valleys’ in the screen. It does the job, and I won’t be sending it back, but next time I’ll probably try the Samsung equivalent.
