Great upgrade for me.

Good stuff! Been a while since I had a "modern" receiver. Easy setup for listening position, little need to tweak it later. It's nice how well it works with input switching...just turn on the device, the denon responds. MAKE SURE you have updated HDMI cables, at least v2.2 Otherwise you may think it's the AVR or settings that is the problem. As for sound, pushes my Klipsch set up very well. A little bright on the multi-stereo sound field, but otherwise I approve.

Best receiver I’ve owned

Since 1966, I’ve built or bought a total of six audio receivers, several of which were “high end. ” But this DENON surpasses them all with features, construction and audio quality. The setup is slightly challenging, but the instructions are thorough if you take your time. I’m loving the sound of this unit.

Great Purchase. No Regrets.

I upgraded from a Yamaha 5.1 receiver to this Denon 7.2 and I love it. I didn't expect the surround to be this much of a differnce from the 5.1, but WOW was I wrong. Now, when I'm searching for a movie to watch, I skip the Dolby 5.1 ones and look for the ATMOS ones. I don't ever care if the movie isn't that good. The sound makes up for it. I upgraded my front speakers from old school JBLs to a pair of KEF Q-350's and the clarity and depth is amazing. Highly recommend both.

Awesome surround system!

This receiver replaced a 14 year old Onkyo. I love the auto setting and Earc and how it sets up for best possible sound options depending on what you are watching, or listening to. The surround set up was easy, and unbelievable the surround sounds we were missing with the older receiver. Watching football, it feels like I am in the stands cheering. Very pleased with this purchase.

Pleasantly Happy with purchase

I originally had an Onkyo TX-S939, but was wanting to move to a receive that supports height speakers for Atmos, originally I was looking at Onkyo, but after doing a bit of research, found this gem. I've heard people say that music is a little less lively from Denon, but I have not found that to be the case, and as far as surround sound, I feel like I'm in the middle of the action. even playing Mario Kart, I can hear the players coming up behind me, which helps in deflecting shots. I also have a tcl 6 series mini led tv, which is fantastic, and use Polk speakers, they are from when I bought the original onkyo system, and I was on a budget, so I have 2 T50 towers, 2 T15 Bookshelf, and 1 T30 Center channel, as well as ps10(subwoofer, I believe that is the model for that). I would recomend this receiver to anyone wanting a budget surround system. as a side note, I have a Hue sync box between the receiver and TV, the only component that doesn't play nice with that is the 4k Blu-ray, but the tv has more HDMI ports, and the Blu-ray player has a second HDMI port for sound only to goto the receiver... I will be adding height speakers soon, but until, it is really immersive.

Great Entry to 4k@120/8K

I purchased the AVR-S760H to replace a 5 year old Yamaha that lacked the more modern features of HDMI 2.1. I wanted the 4K@120 pass through along with CEC to go along with my Sony Bravia, Apple 4K and Xbox Seriex X setup. Upon initial setup I experienced some of the flickering issues and my Sony TV didn't recognize my AV system correctly. The issue would last about 30-45 seconds and then disappear. I had a feeling that my HDMI cables were not passing the 4K@120/8K signal correctly so I ordered a couple replacement cables and guess what....problem solved. The flickering disappeared completely and the overall picture appeared less soft than before. I'm thinking the receiver was attempting to figure out the signal being pushed from my Series X and Apple 4k and how to get it through the lower spec'd cable??? Its been a week with the new certified HDMI 2.1 cables and all is good, CEC and 4K@120 working great, Apple 4K is fantastic. I'm no audiophile and rarely listen to music through my AV setup so I cant comment on that but as a home theater setup I'm super happy, just make sure you have HDMI 2/1 cables before you do your setup.

Fantastic Receiver!

This is simply a fantastic receiver, even more so considering it was half price as a refurbished unit. I replace my Marantz receiver with the AVR-S760 and boy was I amazed at both the sound quality improvement, but also at the picture quality. Everything else in my system stayed the same. Everything is included in the box except the instruction manual, which you have to download. Setup is relatively easy and effortless. Programing is also intuitive and easy to achieve. I wont go into all the technical details, but I will say this is one amazing receiver that will get the job done. Super quality all around. You can't go wrong with Denon!

Great Refurbished A/V Receiver

I purchased this to replace a similar but aging Yamaha receiver. I decided to go with a refurbished unit based on ratings from several others stating they had good results with them. My experience has been the same. Unit arrived as advertised, nicely packaged and scratch free. Works great right out of the box and with a much better mobile app than the Yamaha. I will buy Denon refurbished next time I am in need.

Audio Bliss

For the price, this receiver is what I hoped for. I am using it in a small room for alternate TV and Streaming viewing. I have it playing through a small set of Polk Audio RM8 speakers (5.1 only) and I have all of my devices connected, which include a cable box, my Nvidia Shield, a DVD player, and a HTPC. I am still getting to know the unit and am trying different sound settings but am thrilled with its performance to date (I have had this for about 6 weeks, and it has been setup for 4 of those weeks)

Too Many Problems

Unacceptable Issues 1. The unfortunate design choice by Denon to combine CEC with ARC settings so that the user can’t enable one without the other causes issues: 1) the receiver picks unwanted CEC inputs when selecting an input and 2) the receiver cannot be used on a non-ARC port without the receiver and the TV constantly prompting to connect the receiver to an ARC port. ARC and CEC are separate standards and manufacturers should never conflate them in user settings. The approach seems designed to force people to use ARC who don’t want or need it. 2. Receiver does not receive HDMI signal from Mac HDMI ports and even interferes with Mac’s ability to output from HDMI port forcing user to perform SMC reset on Mac to regain HDMI port output. 3. Receiver can't deliver HDMI output signal for analog video inputs. Evidently this unit does not have the composite-to-HDMI video conversion featured on other Denon receivers. This was not mentioned anywhere on the product webpage at denon.com/en-us/product/av-receivers/avr-s760h. One of my main requirements was a composite input that could output over HDMI. I spent hours looking over Denon's products to make a selection. Every video input should be able to output from HDMI, and if it can’t, this should be clearly indicated on the unit and in the product information on the product webpage at denon.com/en-us/product/av-receivers/avr-s760h. Disappointing Issues I might have put up with the following issues if not for the unacceptable issues above, but there is no reason the good hardware in the device should be compromised by the following software problems: 4. Can't just cycle through inputs sequentially with the remote, forced to select specific inputs, not all of which are on the remote (Optical for example). 5. Creating input names manually doesn't work because the receiver replaces them as soon as it sees a device name over CEC. 6. Front display always truncates input names because it's always showing the sound setting on the same line of text. The max input name you can see is 5 characters which is paltry. 7. Failure to provide persistent useful names like HDMI 1 in menus, front display, and remote. Pre-labeling with presumed names like CBL/SAT is not helpful. 8. Audio processing options are exceedingly difficult to select as if to force the user to accept what the unit defaults to. 9. Can't select the front speaker size "small" without the unit automatically selecting that the subwoofer is on - due to a bug in current firmware. 10. Childish looking menus even compared to much older devices.
