I have little dogs that have had accidents on our new carpet. After my old carpet cleaner stopped working I read lots of reviews and loved that this one seemed to have a fix for all the things I hated about my old one. The dry only feature is a game changer! It does not dry your carpet completely of course, but it does lift up a ton of extra water! Allowed me to go over some problem spots a few times. I also really like the easy access to the brushes. Between my hair and my dogs it is nice to be able to easily clean these without taking apart the machine. Only downside is the amount of cleaner it goes through. I was surprised how much it used and did feel it was a little wasteful, made me wonder if I needed to go over with water only to pick up extra.

I have only ever owned Hoover carpet cleaners. I bought my 1st one about 16 years ago. I love carpet and had kids and didn't want to have to worry about accidents ruining the carpet. The 1st one I bought I had for 10 years and loved it. The second one I bought I had for 3 years and did not like it at all. So when buying this one I was extremely hesitant. I did not want to buy another one that I couldn't wait for it to die so I could get another one. However I just used it and I have to say I am extremely happy with it. Its very easy to use lightweight and most importantly cleaned really well. One of the other big things for me because I am a little OCD is that I can clean it properly. The last one I had the water would never completely drain out of the water tank and the collection tank so it always smelled like old water. This one everything comes apart really easily from the tanks to the brushes. I also love the separate container for the cleaner. If I don't use all of it I can just dump it back in the bottle. I also love the fact that I don't have to hold a button or a trigger while I'm cleaning. And being able to push the dry only button came in handy because I have 3 kids and 2 dogs that love the carpet just as much as I do. I am very happy with this purchase and glad I did not let one bad product scare me off from purchasing from Hoover again.

When you first use this machine, it works great! After a couple uses, things begin to breakdown... Randomly the tank would leak from the bottom, the suction would start and stop, and even when you take the solution tank out just so water comes out, it somehow still dispenses solution. There's a reason why they recommend washing carpet's 1-3 times a year MAX, because the machine can't handle much more.... Mind you, I live in a small apartment with only 2 carpet bedrooms. This is my 3rd SmartWash, and unfortunately I am not even able to find the receipts. Customer assistance assures me nothing is wrong but I definitely know the difference from when I first used the machine to now. I have had my current machine (3rd one) for under a year now. I loved Hoover in the past, just concerned that product quality has decreased over the years with newer ownership, yet prices continue to increase.

We have an old power scrub, that we used for over 15 years, tested several other brands, even commercial but none beat the Hoover, so we finally decided to upgrade for this smart wash, shipped here very quickly, easy to set up and we love the features, uses much less soap and having it on board to take out for rinse with just water and then use the dry only feature makes the carpet smoother and dries much faster, we have pets so were undecided on getting the "pet" version, but we really don't need the "spot treatment" to get the same result for less money. Have been using it for about a month and it's great so far, hope it last another 10-15 years as the previous Hoover.

When will I ever learn that nothing sold via an infomercial ever lives up to the hype? I spent several hours trying to "SmartWash" my carpet and one set of stairs. I went OVER and OVER and OVER the areas with the "dry only" mode and the carpet was still super wet. I had fans running at full speed on the carpet for an hour and they still weren't dry. I guess I'll just have to continue having the pro's come out once a year to do the job right...and let them do all the heavy furniture moving/lifting.

This is the best carpet cleaner I've ever owned, and I've had quite a few. I've cleaned my own carpets for many years and about 2 years ago we decided to have a professional come in and knock the whole house out....I was disappointed. Last night, I cleaned our living room ( the second area since my purchase) this morning it looks so good! The key is to clean, do it again with just water to extract any residual soap, then a dry only round to finish. Very happy customer, I would recommend this unit to others. Thanks Hoover

Tried this on my dirty carpets and was pleasantly surprised that it removed all the stains from my kids messes! Love the forward wash backwards dry feature. My hands have a tough time holding triggers down for extended periods so that was a nice touch. Only thing I wish was different was I would love to be able to clean the front suction part. Can't figure out how. Other than that it's pretty perfect!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love how easy it is to use and how all the parts come off easily to clean. I've used it for couches, chairs, and our carpets and it has worked great with everything. I use a more natural/green carpet detergent and it works well with the Hoover.

I love my new carpet cleaner, it is easy to use. I love that you fill up the soap dispenser and don't need to refill it every time you use the machine. I have a Chihuahua who thinks my bedroom carpet is her bathroom. I use my new Hoover once a week and my carpet looks like new and the smell from my dog is gone! I love the feature that allows you to dry only, it makes the carpet dry faster then if a professional did it! The machine is easy to clean when your done using it...so many great features!

We have 3 large dogs, and this machine definitely did a great job. Very pleased with how easy it is to use, and it's super easy to clean the brushes and tank afterward. It's not going to replace periodic professional cleaning, but it sure does help us keep our carpets looking and smelling fresh. Haven't yet tried the upholstery tools...that's this weekend's project. :)
