Design changed and not for the better

I bought two of these a couple years ago and they were fantastic. I really liked that it had a steel frame, the shelves weren't wire mesh or made of press board that will warp and get destroyed from humidity, and had a substantial load rating. Assembly was also super easy. Fast forward to last week, and I needed one more for my garage so I bought another of these...The new version is crap. It has a different coating now so doesn't match my old ones; it also makes it look like cheap textured plastic. Functionally, I believe the coating is applied too thick now and affects how the rivet engages (or doesn't) engage. The result is you have to beat the snot out of the pieces to try to get them to engage in the slots, bending and/or destroying them in the process. I was able to get mine together but this was not a pleasant experience. I will most likely NOT be buying again.

Don’t buy!!!

Falls apart easily….shipped with no cushioning so pieces are scratched and bent, so it made it a nightmare to assemble. I looked at assembly and review videos online and realized that several metal stabilizing pieces have been replaced with cheap plastic ones that make the unit very wobbly. Shame on Sams Club for selling this when it is so cheaply made.

Ordered Members Mark shelves got Armadillo brand

I ordered the Members Mark brand shelves (that is what was pictured on the website). I got Armadillo brand shelves. They were much harder to put together than the previous Members Mark shelves. The piece that holds the poles together are short plastic pieces, Members Mark brand had longer metal pieces to hold poles together. Too heavy to return so I am keeping them, but they not good quality! I highly recommend the members mark brand, definitely do NOT recommend the Armadillo brand.

Verified Purchase

Easy to assemble light weight

This is the second of these types of shells that I purchase the first one was super heavy and difficult to put together required hammers in transit time this one was lightweight easy to put together and it holds just as much heavy stuff as the other one!

Horrible flimsy garbage

I bought these yesterday and i am very sorry i did. They are thin gauge steel supports with thin, flimsy particle board shelves. they're rated for 800lb per shelf, but when i put a 100lb tote on one of the shelves it fell apart. Other brands are MUCH better quality.

Nice for price but NOT easy to put together

I bought two of these for a long storage closet. For the price, they are nice, but a couple notes to buyers. It is NOT easy to put together; you definitely need a hammer or something to pound the rails in place. They do not lock easily together as described. I have a ton of cuts from putting this together, all over me. So, grab a hammer before you start. I also thought I could do it by myself but ended up needing my spouse to help me hold sides together while I hammered in place. Also, I'm not sure that I trust the weight limit for each shelf as described in the advertisement. As a matter of fact I will not be putting more than 100 lbs on each shelf, if that. If you stack it together tall, like the main picture, I cannot see that 100 lbs would be stable on the top 2-3 shelves. They are barely held together by the bolts, and all of my posts are aligned. I made one the tall shelf, and made the 2nd set side by side. I think the side by side will be more stable. For the price I shouldn't complain, but the frustration of putting it together and being leery about the weight per shelf makes me give it only 3 stars. They did arrive ahead of schedule though, by 4 days! Would recommend these shelves if you knew what you were getting in to with the caveats above.

Flimsy new version of a great shelf

We have purchased these or similar shelving units from SAM's for the past 20 years. The quality has gone way down in recent years. These are so flimsy they sway and rock all over the place with just a light push of the finger once assembled. On the plus side, they are very easy to assemble and the price is decent. Metal is about 1/3 the thickness of the units they sold 10 - 15 years ago. We purchased 6 and are planning to return the 5 un-opened boxes and will search for something sturdier.

Terrible corner connectors

I bought this for the weight capacity. Some of the particle board shelves came a bit warped. The metal frame is solid enough. The cheap plastic corner connectors are awful and pop out easily. It's serving the intended purpose for holding heavy items so I'll keep it, but I would recommend getting something with metal shelves.

Junk

These are absolute junk. I bought the same shelf over a year ago. After my initial purchase I checked the product page constantly only to find it always out of stock. I waited with crossed fingers for over a year, until recently these came back in stock. The metal on this new unit is a different color, it is flimsy, and is nearly impossible to fit it together effectively. Clearly the sourcing for these shelves changed and the new ones are terrible.

why the price hike?

I purchase one in February of 2022 for $69.99. A great price if you ask me. I wish I bought more then. Recent reviews state the new version using the same model numbers have plastic connections now instead of the metal connections for holding the shelves up. That’s a ridiculous change to make in addition to a price hike of $25!!! I didn’t think that anyone at Samsclub would allow a price adjustment. I ask anyway since the new version of this same model is obviously inferior due to the change in the connectors but I got shut down real fast.
