I've bought several different brands of this type of shelving. All are constructed in similar fashion and assembled in much the same way. What varies is the thickness of the uprights, the type of shelving inserts (usually particle board) and the connectors (if any) that join the the two uprights. The shelving inserts on this unit are the best I've seen, substantially heavier than most, and with a black finish rather than just plain particleboard which may reduce chipping. The uprights are standard in thickness, adequate to need. A connector to join the two 3' sections is included that makes me feel much more comfortable about the stability of the assembled unit. The pieces all fit together much more easily than on any of the other brands. It was the same assembly process - these just seemed to be manufactured to a more exact tolerance. The regular price I bought at was at the low end of the range for these units. After putting the first together, I went back and bought three more. If this is the type of shelving unit you need, this is the one to buy.

This is a very good shelving unit for the price. It was relatively easy to put together, my husband and I had it up in about 40 minutes. The only thing I would want the manufacturer to improve is the thickness of the plastic shelves. But it does the job, looks great in our garage and has plenty of shelf space. I recommend this for home garage use, not so much for warehousing.

1 star for the good packaging. I had purchased the earlier versions of these a couple years ago. I get that things aren't like they were pre Covid, but the quality on this is horrible. The metal bars twisted and they dented when you had to use the mallet to get the slats in correctly. The plastic piece that connects the top and bottom of the shelf is garbage. I can lift the top off with my bare hands. Luckily the only thing we have on it are some model kits so it is very light but had I known I would have saved my money and went to the Depot where I could see a sample set up. It's too much work to tear it apart and return it.

We bought three of these in the past from Sam's and they were great for what they are. Five stars. So we bought another one the other day. However it is not made by the same company - Sam's has contracted with someone else, obviously cheaper or they wouldn't change providers. Prior shelves had some metal connectors to hold the shelving sections together when building it in the vertical design. It made the system secure from the top part tipping off and over from the bottom half. This new one has little plastic inserts. I contacted them asking for some of the metal pieces and of course as a different supplier they don't have any. I can just picture one of my grandkids climbing the shelving, grabbing the top and having the whole top section tip over on them. It is my opnion as a parent and grandparent that this is inherently unsafe in the vertical build and I'm shocked that they claim it is safe and that Sam's buys that. Wait until someone gets hurt. It also makes you question the quality of the other Armadillo products.

I have bought several to organize my basement; a few for toys and games, several for seasonal items like Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter decorations, bulky kitchen items that don’t fit in cabinets or pantry, food items from Sams such as cases of water, TP, paper towels, other seasonal items like blankets or clothes packed in storage bins, and books & school supplies. I love them so much I want to buy 4 more for the basement and 2 for the garage!!! I would like to order 6 Member's Mark 5-Shelf Storage Racks today but they are out of stock. Can I have a rain check for today’s price for $44.98?

These shelves are great for for storage and plenty sturdy. "Simple" assembly gets pretty difficult without a second set of hands. The box is heavy, but that speaks to the sturdiness of the shelving. Keeping the base square and upright during assembly without help proves extremely challenging.

I like the shelf, but the rating of 800 lbs/shelf is likely under lab conditions with most of the weight towards the (supported) edges of the shelf. I had a 221 lb generator stored on the bottom shelf (the only thing on that shelf besides 5-10 lbs of potting soil on the opposite side) and the shelf held for a few months, but I just moved the generator yesterday and the shelf snapped. It’s still a OK shelf, but I’m very disappointed that the rated weight capacity is nothing near what is advertised.

These will be perfect for our needs (just extra basement storage that no one will see but us) and great for the price, but beware they are flimsy metal sides and particle board shelves. We will definitely scratch the life out of the shelves before too long every time we slide something off and on (and you're definitely sliding things since they're such deep shelves). It will be interesting to see how long they last, but we're pleased with them for now.

I bought these 2 years ago and they were so amazing. I needed some more and bought two more and the qualities went down significantly. The paint finish wasn't as good and the shelves instead of being plastic are particle board that is plastic coated. My biggest complaint is the connector for the vertical pieces used to be a steel piece about 4 in long and now it's a plastic piece less than an inch long. This makes it much more difficult to assemble.

I bought four of these at my local Sam's store. Allow about an hour to assemble the first unit. Subsequent units should go quicker. It would be good to have a helper when first starting the assembly to keep the upright pieces from falling over. Once you get it started it goes really fast. The hardest part is putting the plastic protectors in the ends of the uprights. Design is solid and they look great in my business' shipping room. These shelves look good enough to be used as furniture in a kids bedroom.
