A Lot Annoyed

Don't Buy if you like your paint on the walls

This tape sucks. It peels your paint off the wall. We used it a while ago to make lines on our wall and left it on for a few days to ensure crisp lines, and it pulled chunks off the wall. Tried again for a very quick 10-minute usage, and it STILL pulled paint off the wall. After TEN MINUTES! 0/10 do not recommend.

This tape peeled off paint!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've had our new ceiling fan housing damaged from the tape peeling paint off, also had paint peeled off the wrought iron stair rail, and it peeled wood off our base moldings. I would not recommend this tape, in fact I'll tell people not to use it.

the strength of tape without the damage

I had to bundle up a closet package for a friend. I used 3M Blue painters tape to wrap the melamine shelves and the white brackets together. It held like packing tape yet when he removes it there will be no tape residue on the white melamine or metal. Sweet!

Should not waste money

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband continues to buy this tape for my room makeovers and it always causes heartache. Never once have i been able to get a clean line from this tape. We have tried everything and even called people over to lay the tape to eliminate user error.

Worked well and leaned lessons.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Using this tape on interior painting projects for a couple of room paintings i have learned that overall this is a great product but has to be applied properly to prevent peeling of tape away from surfaces and allowing paint to get underneath or totally past the tape. Peeling the tape can be an issue also once the job is done but is more of a nuisance than a major issue. Overall the tape performed excellent but make sure you take your time when prepping the surface you are going to be attaching the tape to and you will have clear "sailing" with your next painting project.

Great for Crafts!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I make "Pirate Rum" bottles as gifts for my Disney loving friends. Scotch Blue painters tape works so well to mask off the areas on the bottles as I paint them. It allows me to be creative, without the mess!

Worked perfect!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Recently painted my kitchen and used Scotch Blue original tape. It went on easy and unrolled very easy. Best part is I never had a problem getting the tape started as I have with other brands. Stayed in place and removed very easily. Wouldn't do another paint job without it.

Had to sand and repaint

I purchased a new roll for painting my bedroom labor day weekend. While the tape worked fine on the baseboards it was awful on the walls. I was painting an accent wall and placed the tape on the wall next to it to avoid mixing colors. One wall was newly painted (24 hrs ago) and the other wall I had not painted as of yet. When I went to remove the tape (both walls) paint chips in several sections came off with it. Had to sand and repaint new wall had to sand old wall to smooth out what came off there too. Used 3 yr old roll of the "green tape" that I had from past jobs along with this and it worked just fine.

True to its name, not just a painters tape, has multi-purposes!

I am not a painter by any means, but I have used the multi-purpose blue painters tape for a variety of tasks, including - sticking it on a painted wall/to cover an area to prevent splash [its primary, intended purpose]. For places that need touch-ups for whatever reason: be it, due to too many nail holes made by picture frames over the years, and you decide to patch them up and do some touch up paint. Or you are installing new light switches and you need to tape around that area, or even to prevent accidental punctures when working with tools. It seems to do the job as intended. But the great thing is that this, really is a multi-purpose tape, and I feel it can take the role of masking tape as well for better or worse. What I mean is, when you are using this tape outside of the painting realm [such as uses intended for vanilla colored masking tape], it does not leave a sticky residue over time, or if it gets heated [a hot day, left on a hot surface/on a hot day, or just over time]. Which saves a lot of trouble. The "worse", although its not really that bad [I know wrong word choice], is that sometimes it may not stick as strongly as you would like compared to masking tape. For example, folded heavy duty plastic baggies [like those thick, I believe 4mil? 6mil?] plastic bags at around 3-6 inch tall to 2 inch wide. An easier example might be, the freezer bag style zip-lock bags, and sometimes even slightly thicker. This tape may curl up on the corners depending on how its used, if the inside of the bag is "pumped" etc. Overall a great tape for its intent, and other multi-purposes.
