[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Really good ice maker. Makes perfect little ice pebbles and pretty fast. Comes with an ice scooper. Has a light. Plugs in and you fill up the water chamber so no need to worry about attaching to a water supply. I was able to get 2-3 full ice buckets before refilling with water again. It does give off some heat in the back so be careful where you place it. Pretty quiet when making the ice. I haven’t cleaned it yet so unable to give my opinion on that but Overall I’m enjoying this ice marker and I’d definitely recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the crunchiness of the ice that this makes! It also didn't taste like tap water. Althought it is a bit on the heavy and bulkier side, and it took a while to make ice the first time but the noise level is low so it didn't bother me.

Best ice maker ever. The cleaning process is tedious and the water tank needs a better design in order to pour the water in through the top instead of having to pick up the entire tank, flip it over to open the lid to pour water in, and then flip it back over to set it back into it's base. They need to make where the base is connected and the opening for the water is on the top.

The nugget ice is super soft and chewable—kind of like the ice you get at Sonic. It makes drinks way more fun, whether it’s iced coffee or just plain water. It starts making ice pretty fast, and the side tank is helpful so you’re not refilling water all the time. It does take up a bit of counter space, but it looks sleek and doesn’t feel bulky. It makes a little noise while running, but nothing too loud. You do need to clean it regularly, but it’s not hard—just takes a little time. If you love nugget ice, this is totally worth it. I use it every day and don’t see myself going back.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using the GE Opal ice maker for a few weeks now, and it’s quickly become a staple in my house. The crunchy ice it produces is fantastic- crunchy cubes that rival that of Sonic’s offering. One of the best things is how fast it gets started; ice begins coming out at around the 20-25 minute mark. Once this happens, you can clearly hear the ice being produced and extruded- it is a squeaking sound of sorts. The machine is still quite quiet however, which is a big bonus as some ice makers can be quite noisy. I also love that the ice stays frozen overnight. I can turn it off before bed and wake up to a fully stocked ice tray in the morning, which is extremely convenient for filling up water bottles and the like in the morning. The water capacity is impressive too, especially with the included side tank. One fill of the tank lasts a day or so of heavy ice consumption, but can stretch out for a good few days assuming you don’t use all that much ice. However, there are a few downsides. The Opal does require regular cleaning and descaling, especially if you’re using it nonstop, which can be a bit of a hassle. Further, the stainless steel exterior, while sleek and elegant, tends to show smudges and fingerprints easily. Not a big deal if you wipe it down regularly, but nonetheless it can get annoying. I must also note that this is a large machine, and takes up a significant amount of counter space. Overall, the GE Opal (OPAL01GEWKT) delivers fast and high-quality ice with an elegant design, making it a great choice if you’re willing to keep up with the maintenance.

I don’t know why, but it just seems to make your soda taste so much more crisp! So, we were super excited to try out this new GE nugget ice maker. First of all, it ships perfectly. Nothing was damaged. Everything was packaged up carefully. Assembly was pretty easy. Just make sure to give everything a little wash and rinse before use. After being cleaned and set up, the machine begins to make ice almost instantaneously. This specific model has two reservoirs in which you can put water so you don’t have to constantly fill with water. There is one on the bottom and the additional side tank. This makes things a little easier. Ice is continuously made and doesn’t really ever run out. It is a heavy duty appliance but still fits nicely under my cabinets. The only small thing I would change is if there was a designated spot to put your ice scoop. Other than that, this machine is great. Oh, it it’s not loud at all! This is just a great nugget ice maker and a fun addition to our kitchen!
