LOVE THIS SCREEN DOOR

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This screen door is so amazing! I have 4 dogs and I love having the ability to allow them to go in and out at will with the magnetic screen door. Its super easy to hang up and remove if you need to. This is great alternative to putting in a doggy door!

much better than the knock-off brands

I purchased my first magic mesh screen door when they first came out. It took a couple of tries to get it hung right, but once properly installed it worked perfectly. The tacks have plastic heads so installing them with a hammer is not an option, they crack to pieces. I ended up using my staple gun to secure the screening. Then I moved and purchased a cheaper brand for the new place. It was too short by about 5". So I reordered the magic mesh. It lasted about 3 years with medium usage (a few times a day by me, frequent use by the cats). The plastic magnet casings tend to pop apart after 6 months or so, so I super glued the new connectors right after I hung this one hoping this will prevent that problem. After a year the center stretched and got out of alignment resulting in it not closing itself properly. I took up about a half inch at the top where the two panels meet and re-stapled it, this solved that problem. All in all Magic Mesh is the best option I have found, even with it's quirks. It lets fresh air in and keeps bugs out. When hung properly it lines itself up and closes automatically. I recommend it especially for people with pets. When I took the old one down I washed it in the washing machine, it made it through a regular cycle fine. No dryer, I hang all of my curtains wet so the weight of the water straightens out the wrinkles and I wouldn't put plastic in the dryer anyway. I hung it over a small window and cut it down so the cats can use it as a pet door. I might get three more years out of the salvaged one.

Excellent Price and It WORK!!

I been searching online for a similar product because the RATING is so LOW, Everybody say don’t waste your money on this product! I search on Amazon, bug off Instant screen its like 35.22 + taxes it will be like 40 dollar. Then, I come up an Idea thinking I can make one my own!! Calculating the material costs, around 15-20 dollar, and having to worry about if it doesn’t work. And on their official website BUY 1 get 1 FREE!! What a good deal, 19.95 and you have TWO, BUT!! It doesn’t include S&H shipping and handling. And you have to pay for the extra 7.95 S&H for the free one, so it will cost $15.00 just for the shipping Itself. And we when on shopping trip to WALMART, and saw this product and thought I would just give it a try. Cons: before we setting it up, We know there are some problems, 1. Two Mesh Panels, They are the same length But the magnet doesn’t line up 100%,its more like 97%, so two panel doesn’t line up perfectly, little bit off. (I can deal with that) 2. Our door its 31inch, the mesh its more like 39 inch. (how should I deal with it) DON’T do what we did, take it as a tip. So we can’t set up like the instruction, because our door is smaller, or else it will be tape on outside of the door frame which is on the wall. We folded the side inward, so it will be tying it up, but it’s too tight that the magnet doesn’t come together. So we figure it should be loose. We redo the taping, the normal way, and we overlapping the top middle tape, so that the top pulling the magnets together all the way to the bottom. It WORKS! IT WORK like it’s on the commercial. I have 2 dogs, a collie and a golden retriever; it looks like they don’t need to learn how to use it, just come so naturally. They love it, we love it, I can really feel the breeze without worry about the annoying flies. HEY! just $14.00 not bad!!

Handy for a busy house.

I really was worried before we used this product but it is great. we have a new steel door on the back of our house and it needed some type of screen to keep bugs out. We have less problem with flies and wasps in our house since we put this up. The only problem is that it is too easy and fast for our 20 month old great grandson to get outside if we turn our backs on him. I have recommended it to neighbors already.

Didn't work for us

I got this in hopes of keeping critters out of the house while still allowing my kids to come in and out of the backyard. There were pretty great reviews so I thought I'd try it. Here's our experience. First of all the velcro that comes with it melted off in 70 degree weather so if you get this know you have to use the tacks that come with it and make permanent holes in your doorframe. Because the shape of the the opening is an inverted V shape, me and my husband kept getting our shoulders and heads caught in the thing which ripped the whole thing down every time we used it. Also it's not shaped for sliding glass doors, just actual door frames with swinging doors. Lastly it only kept flying bugs out. There were a host of creepy crawlies inside my kitchen after a couple hours of use. While the idea of this is absolutely fantastic the execution is poorly done. On the bright side the magnets work as promised!

Have purchased several times- works great!

Super-gluing the magnet casings together with a few drops each (during assembly) and keeping the unit tight when installing it over the doorframe will optimize the mechanics of closing. Also, reinforcement of the velcro with better upholstery grade tacks will prevent sagging and ripping. The black will fade to gray over time, but it does stop flying insects very well.

It's okay for the price

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live in Arizona. We don't get to leave our door open much between the dust and the heat, but when we do we need a quality screen in place. This is great because my kid likes to go in and out and he can do it without opening and closing the door. I wish it were better quality, but for the price I can't complain.

Easy breezy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy to install and it clings together. It’s keeping the bugs out but letting my cooped up toddlers run in and out of the backyard without worrying about forgetting to close the door. We’ve had fewer bugs in the house since installing.

Good idea, however poor manufacturing practices...

Opened the package and held it up on the door frame to check the measurements. Laid it down to mark the frame. As I picked it up to separate the halves there were several black plastic pieces and some magnets laying on the floor. It seems that the plastic pieces were not glued or bonded to keep the pieces closed and connected to the screen locations.

Worth a try

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like this product. I think it’s a really cool idea. You can exit hands free. Sometimes the doors don’t close all the way and the pets have figured out how to get out even though I don’t want them to. Keeps the bugs out though!
