Good materials, and good instructions.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have almost completed the building. Just need doors attached. I did find a couple of pieces of material were very rough - disappointing. Also, in the wall construction, toe nailing into a 2X3 stud and the top plate in two pieces makes the wall somewhat weak. I cut the stud shorter at that junction and scab the top and bottom plates. Then toe nailed the stud into a solid piece. Much stronger. Although the instructions were very detailed and for the most part easy to follow, I would not recommend someone who has not had construction experience to try to assemble by themselves. It was challenging at times to get everything exact.
Value and then some
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed more storage space but didn't want a second mortgage (if you know what I mean) and this shed hit the mark. I was able to get a larger shed then I believed I could in the price range I needed to be in. Assembly was easy and the directions were very understandable. Because of the materials used I was able to add additional shelves for storage off the ground and hooks for some of my smaller tools and toys. Very pleased that I found this product to feel the need. And it's cute too.
Exact size for my yard
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased my shed in February and I'm so happy I did! The purpose was to relieve space in my garage because I was in the hunt to purchase a new car. My current vehicle was having to be moved whenever the lawn was mowed. While I thought my yard was too little for a shed, my yard equipment just perfect and the shed fit in the yard perfect, as well! And if all fails it can become my own personal getaway she shed!
Nice quality shed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy to follow directions and all precut pieces were accurate. One suggestion is to use star head screws instead of nails for a stronger assembly in high wind areas. I bought more screws for that reason. I also bought two 4x4 base rails for foundation in case it had to be moved it will drag easier. Will recommend this kit to others.
Great Product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought my 8x10 shed seven months ago and couldn't be happier. I decided to not go with a bigger size due to cost and was initially worried that it would be to small. I was able to fit everything I needed and then some in it. The quality seems to be really good and I'm pleased to have a 10 year warranty on material.
Good size, great instructions
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought and assembled this myself. I am mechanically inclined yet don't do a lot of woodwork. This kit is good, my only issue was that some of the wall framing parts were warped, twisted and even end pieces that were not square in that they were even completely square in that the log ended yet they used the top pieces that were “close” to square. One sidewalk bowed out at the bottom when I went to attach it to the floor due to the bottom piece being warped. I followed the instructions carefully to make the rafters, yet when I went to put the roof panels on, I could get them flush only in the middle, there wound up being a gap at each end. It was also a challenge to get the side wall panels installed correctly so that there was enough hanging below to nail it to the floor on the outside, and also so that it did not stick up too far to interfere with the roof panels. Overall it was a lot of work to assemble, about 40 hours.
It is ok
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I expected more than i get._x000D_ Door hinges (piano hinges) were attached only to the 1/4 panels and have separated immediately. There were missing parts (wooden braces) not assembled well. _x000D_ I spent a whole day fixing it and invested in more material to support properly. _x000D_ Gentlemen who assembled took the pictures of faulty items and I didn't get any follow ups on fixing it so i did it myself. _x000D_ Now looks decent. _x000D_ From this perspective today i am ok with it. _x000D_ Would i buy another one probably not.
Quality Shed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The shed was well packed so nothing was damaged. It was delivered to our driveway with a fork lift. All the components were organized to find easily, and marked to identify with the instructions. The instructions walk you through each step clearly. A crew of 5 of us put it together in a few days. Only a few minor trim cuts were needed. The kit even includes shelving and brackets for the inside, as well as all the hardware and trim. The shingles are not included, but that allowed us to choose our own type and color to match the color we painted it. You will need to pour your own concrete pad for it. It turned out better than the picture!
Nice shed, good instructions, quality materials
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] TL;DR - Nice shed, good price, decent easy to follow instructions, kit includes all the hardware required, wood quality was good with minimal warping but nothing that prevented assembly, you need your own flooring, paint and shingles. Solid construction design and plenty of room for all your storage needs._x000D_ _x000D_ I have been wanting a shed for some time when saw these at a local big box home supplies retailer. The base price for self install was much less than competitor sheds, but does not include the flooring, shingles or paint; these are part of the Homeland install option and in either case and after adding in the cost of these items was still a better deal than the competitors. But I'm a bit of a cheapskate, more than capable to construct this shed (which was not difficult, more to follow), and had recently painted my house and had plenty of paint left over for this project._x000D_ _x000D_ I ordered the base kit along with the other materials for the flooring and roofing at the same time from the home supplies retailer which made the whole process very easy, and had it delivered. The kit comes with all the prices sandwiched and banded together between two 4x8 sheets of roofing plywood which as you might have guessed are used for the roof. It is very heavy and requires a forklift to load/unload, but I suppose if you had your own truck to haul it you could just take the kit apart to unload._x000D_ _x000D_ I live in the Southwest its dry and the ground is solid so I made a foundation of 12x12 pavers over fortified sand (mixed in portland cement), the finished elevation is just slightly higher than the exiting ground. I made a flooring frame of pressure treated 2x4s and covered it with 3/4in flooring plywood and stated assembling the shed. _x000D_ _x000D_ All the parts and hardware are labeled with a two letter code and all the instructions for the various steps identify which pieces of wood or hardware are used, the quantity needed and where to put them. I did frequently add some additional hardware (screws/nails) where I felt some extra would be beneficial, but the as designed specification are adequate for a solid build. Some of the 2x3 pieces were a little warped and it took some additional effort to hold into place. I did not have to replace or re-cut anything to fit; and its common for wood to warp as it dries so I was not alarmed to see this, but also glad it was not worse; maybe my being in the dry Southwest helped._x000D_ _x000D_ I did most of the construction myself, including putting on the roofing, but I did get help erecting the walls. It took me probably 2 solid days for the basic shed construction including painting and shingles, but I did this over a couple weekends and only spent a few hours each morning working on it before it got hot. I would recommend that two people do this, I think it would have been faster. The only thing that I messed up on was placement of the walls. Because the wall assembly uses two different sized spanners across the wall joists the wall could bend a little when lifting it into place. I did not realize that until after I had all four walls up and looked down the length. The siding is not flush up to the flooring frame, maybe 1/2in or so offset in the center of the wall but I did get it secured to the floor and you really cant tell on the finished product so I left it. It would be nice if the instructions provided some warnings and things to look for during assembly for those of us that did not know or forgot to check._x000D_ _x000D_ In the end I'm very happy with the results. The shed is very solid, looks good and has lots of room and the double doors lets you get in and out with lawn mowers and bikes very easily. I installed a number of shelves, a small work surface and loft at the back for even more storage. There are a lot of options that can be ordered with the shed, but I opted to install a third party vent in the roof, and will also add a couple vents in the wall at the floor to improve air flow and a light. I very glad that I got this shed and believe that it will last every bit as long as any regular house.
Cute Little Shed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We got this 8x8 shed to use for general storage. It went up easily thanks to Heartland sending someone to do it. I think it took him about two hours? It's sturdy and has enough light and head room to work in. We have not hooked up electricity because we only use it for storage. We painted ours red, which was a fun little weekend project. The wood was primed, so it wasn't too big of a chore. The folks at Heartland were very helpful and kind. Highly recommend.
