Simple yet substantial update over the original

It's a better Nintendo Switch that can play new Nintendo releases and legacy software at higher fidelity. Build quality of the Switch 2 is vastly superior to the Switch 1 and the console is priced fairly competitively considering the hardware under the hood. It's a similar jump in quality from a PS4 to a PS5 but arguably more appealing than that product. Paid less for the Switch 2 than the Steam Deck OLED for a machine with better specs. Main issue is backwards compatibility not being ironed out 100% yet but that's an issue to be fixed over time. The dock is super flimsy and feels worse than the original Switch's dock. Overall solid system despite not reinventing the wheel like Nintendo is known to do with their hardware.

Feels like an anti-consumer paperweight

One of the most disappointing console launches for me. -A large chunk of game releases are game key cards, meaning a download is required and the life of a game is limited by whenever a company decides to shut down a server. This should not even be an option that Nintendo allows. -Magnetic joy-cons feel flimsy and unstable. -The grip you can attach the joy-cons to is the single most uncomfortable controller-like device I've ever held, pretty much forcing you to spend more money and buy a pro controller. -Recent TOS changes say they can brick your console if you do something they don't want you to. It also mentions monitoring your camera and voice chat. Along with them allegedly banning certain games and dlc on their platform, such as Neptunia, policy changes alone are enough to make me regret my purchase of the new console. -Some Gamecube Classic expansion pass games that were previously advertised are not unavailable (a subscription service that's also anti-consumer - just let me buy and own my games). I was under the impression that the previously advertised games in the earlier Nintendo showcase would be available day 1, but that is not the case. That one may be on me, but I would blame Nintendo for not clearly advertising it. I very much regret buying this. I bought it for Pokemon Colosseum/Gale of Darkness, which is not available, and for Bravely Default HD, which ended up being a game key card, so it's not much more for me than a paperweight at the moment.

Love it!

The Nintendo Switch 2 has completely exceeded my expectations. Right out of the box, it feels like a major step up from the original Switch — not just in hardware, but in the overall gaming experience. The first thing that blew me away was the visual upgrade. The new games look absolutely stunning, with sharper textures, smoother performance, and more immersive lighting. Titles like Zelda and Metroid Prime 4 look next-gen, and it’s clear Nintendo put a lot of care into optimizing for the new system. What really surprised me, though, was how much better the older games look too. I revisited Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Breath of the Wild, and they run smoother and look more vibrant than ever — it’s like they’ve been given a fresh coat of polish. And Fortnite? It honestly feels like I’m playing on an Xbox. The graphics are crisp, the framerate is stable, and everything loads faster. I never thought I’d be able to say that about a handheld Nintendo console. Overall, the Switch 2 isn’t just a minor upgrade — it’s a true evolution of the platform. If you’re on the fence, don’t be. This is the Switch experience we’ve all been waiting for.

The Switch Pro We've All Been Waiting For

Let's be honest, the Switch 2 feels more like an evolution than a revolution but that's quite alright with me. It's been 8 years since Nintendo released "new" hardware and this feels like the natural evolution of the product. The larger screen, upgraded kickstand, and a more ergonomic set of Joycons all make this a must buy if you're itching for the best Nintendo experience.

Amazing console!!

i bought the Mario kart world bundle for the switch 2 on June 05 day one at the walmart release walked in grabbed the bundle the box was a little scratched but its fine tue contents inside was untouched so i did not really mind, works flawlessly and the performance was way better than the original switch. tue second one i bought online for my brother because he really wanted one as-well so i got him it and he loves it too. only con for me personally is the battery life of the switch its alright they could’ve squeezed in more of a bigger battery to last an extra hour or two considering the pricing of the console. other than that it is a great system so far no issues 👍🏻

The near perfect upgrade for a phenomenal system.

Great experience purchasing through Walmart.com and the system is everything and more I wanted from a more performance oriented switch. The only thing I would say, and it isn’t a negative, if you had wrist pain problems with the original switch systems, this console does nothing to improve that and is slightly worse due to its overall increased weight.

Nintendo Switch 2

The Nintendo Switch 2 has been amazing so far - especially when transferring your switch games. I'm in the process of updating some of my gaming library, having fun playing both switch 1, switch 2 titles and enjoying the new features. If you get the chance; try it out and see if the Switch 2 is for you .

The Switch 2 is a very welcome upgrade to the Switch. I can’t boast its graphical capabilities but its upgrades to Switch games are already magnificent. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet give me whiplash with how smooth they run. Also, while the screenshare function is laggy and slow- overall me and my pals love talking over Gamechat. Could we just use discord? Yeah, but it’s somehow invigorating doing it from the console.

Its Switch 1.5 not 2.

For $500 one would think Nintendo would use hall effect analog sticks. But no, that is too much to ask after a generation plagued by stick-drift issues. Control on the joycons are still well behind competition. The screen is nice and big but lacks the brightness to deliver true HDR content. Bluetooth audio on the device is very buggy. Premium price, premium hand-feel but very familiar issues still persists.

Improvement in every way but...

An improvement over The Switch 1 in every way. One thing that is hard to overlook is the lack of internal storage in 2025. Modern games are simply too big these days Nintendo themselves compress their games well. Expecting others to follow suit is a tall order. I do understand that Micro SD Express cards will eventually lower in price and become more affordable. I still believe that 256GB in this day and age is lacking.
