Smooth MACHINE

After filling the fluids and only 2 pulls it started right up has all the pressure you need for the shop and home. I washed a engine on a John Deere tractor with years of grease and oil build up. It came clean with little effort . The wire mesh hose is awesome making it tangle free. The aluminum frame makes it lite and easy to manover

Better features at a fair price

We purchased the ALH3228-S to replace an older pressure washer purchased from a "big-box" discounter. The ALH3228-S has a lightweight aluminum chassis that works, is easy to maneuver around the shop or farm. The washing effectiveness is better than expected, seemingly better than the specifications. Glad we bought this rather than the cheapest unit available--money well spent. Should last us for home, shop, and farm use. . . for a long time. Thanks.

Good for the size.

Im happy with it. But what I have found is that you have to understand what the GPM is good for. I have another pressure washer that is 20 to 25 years old, because I bought it used 17 years ago. Honda Motor and Cat pump are still going. But it is 4.5 GPM. If your washing down and cleaning a driveway the 4.5 GPM is much better. If you are washing a car, washing down a truck bed, using a small surface cleaner to clean the garage floor, the 2.5 GPM is good. The smaller pressure washer is much more quiet than my larger one. You can not adjust the pressure and it does not have a pressure gauge. But you can use an inline pressure gauge and use larger tips to reduce the pressure. I have 4.5 GPM tips from my other pressure washer and some warn 4.5 GPM tips. So, I can use those for lower pressure.

Performed as Eixpected

Just replaced my old system that blew out the pump. Motor was still running fine but the Cat pump was pricy. It lasted over 10 years so I wanted the same Honda motor and Cat pump. The new one was a little stubborn to get started for the first time, but once it started it performed perfectly. I expect to get at least 10 years from this machine to as well. The aluminum frame makes it a bit lighter and smaller which makes it easier to haul around.

Exactly as advertized

After good performance from a pressure washer purchased in 2001, I looked for a suitable replacement that would build on that success. A good experience with Pressure Washers Direct and numerous online reviews, provided a foundation for my next purchase. It was obvious that Simpson had responded to the review comments from past experiences. My unit is just what I ordered!

Well made and well packaged

Have only used the washer twice and it works well. Particularly impressed with the care taken in the packaging of the unit. It was clear that the transporting companies had shipped the unit upside down at some point since some oil had leaked out of the pump. However, due to the packaging, the unit did not suffer any ill effects.

Powerfull and easy to use

Seems quality. I have a couple of things 1. You have to depress the sprayer while trying to start. The pressue won't allow you to crank it. I had to use my foot to hold the washer from moving so I could get a good pull on it. 2. The oil came in a bag and was more than the capacity of the crankcase so I was a little confused. I triple checked to make sure it was full because I had left over oil. 3. The unit does move around a lot. 4. Upon initial starting it took forever for some reason. Was questioning Hondas engine. Side note: Technician told me the engine is made to run on full throttle so set it and leave it. The good The hose is thick and good quality (quick connect) Solid frame and wheels (actual pneumatic) After the initial starting, the engine now starts on first or second pull The various nozzles stay in place with the easy to use holders on top Large tank for fuel, sight glass for pump oil

Nice, well built pressure washer-one small issue.

Received unit on Jan 19th 2019 and it was in great condition. The unit was packed very well with blow molded foam and everything was a tight fit. Instructions for assembly were very clear and it was easy to assemble. I added oil and fuel and gave it a test run. It fired up on the third pull which I expected as it has to get fuel through the lines. Since then, it starts on first choked pull when cold and first unchoked pull when warmed up. The nozzle tips fit firmly in their holes and I have no concern of them vibrating out and getting lost. The hose seems durable but a bit stiff. It has a steel braid so that probably adds to its rigidity. Not a problem using it though. The wand and hose holder seem to work just fine. Pressure on the unit is great and is knocking the grime off bricks and concrete. The only issue I'm having and I don't think it's a big one, is I'm getting a little small backfire/afterfire every once in a while when letting off the trigger. It will also do it occasionally when I shut the unit off. It's very small and I've used others that do it when shutting down. I checked the spark plug gap to be sure I was getting enough spark and it was at a .022in. Honda recommends and .028-.031in. I went ahead and re-gapped just to try it and it didn't really make a noticeable difference. However, I can idle it down just a hair (not enough to make a difference in the sound of the engine hardly) and it won't do it nearly as often. Maybe it just needs some break-in time as I've only used it for about 3hrs. I'm going to run it for a few tanks of gas before I try to make any carb adjustments if I make any at all. If anyone has input I'd love to hear it. Also I'm running 93 octane ethanol free fuel. Overall I think the unit is great and at 3400PSI and 2.5gal this should be all I ever need. With the Honda engine and the CAT Triplex pump it should last 15+ years with my usage. I've started on my driveway and have about 20 brick columns that surround my property to do. I'll be cleaning them and the house every year. I have no doubt that it will get the job done. The Simpson Surface cleaner is a must if you're going to be cleaning patios and driveways.

Great pressure washer with quality components!

I got this a few weeks ago and have used it twice. So far, I am very impressed with the build quality and performance of this unit. I was looking to a pressure washer that would last me a long time - not a throw away unit that I would have to replace in a few years. Most units at the big box stores are throw away consumer products. Stepping up to this unit gets you both a commercial quality Honda engine and a CAT water pump. That's a great combo! It also came with quick release hose connections, which the cheaper units don't. I am very happy with it!

Very nice machine…

Easy to assemble. Runs well. Works well. However, when removing the little black rubber plug on the CAT pump redbvent cap which must be removed before using the pressure washer, just the top of the rubber plug came off…leaving the plug itself still in the red plastic pump vent cap. I had to remove the red vent cap and disassemble it to get that plug out and then reassemble the cap. Also after the initial use of the pressure washer I found a nut on the ground underneath it. This nut was not tightened sufficiently in the factory. I reinstalled the nut with sufficient torque and checked the others on the underside of the deck.
