I never try this brand before so I was skeptical & some detergent brands that I tried claimed to remove odor & sweat smell but fall short. I used Persil on my husband's clothes, which are marinated with cigarettes smell, sweat & whatever. This detergent managed to get those smells out, the cigarettes was still lingering but it was because I only use 2 tbsp of detergent, it did well removing other smells. So with his next laundry batch, I used 3 tbsp & no more cigarettes smell. One complaint is that the scent is too overwhelming for me, I can smelled it through the plastic bag it was packed in & through the heat seal. Otherwise, it does the job. I usually just use a mixture of baking soda and vinegar (sometimes ammonia) to kill smells, bacteria and any other underlying problems that occur. This laundry detergent has saved my pocketbook, my house and my sanity. I used it for the first time after rescuing a dog from the middle of the road. Covered in ticks and fleas, soaking wet I brought her home and gave her a bath. She smelled like she had rolled in something dead and I couldn't believe I even got the smell off her. Next came the towels I used to dry her off. They stunk as bad as she did. Put in hot water added the Persil and poof..they smelled fantastic. And my animals have not minded the scent one bit. Now as for the stinky socks, I work outside 50+ hours a week. Mowing, mucking out stalls, cleaning cat boxes. I am used to dealing with stinky feet, socks and clothes. This laundry soap amazed me at every turn. No matter what I washed, no matter what temperature water I used, this soap cleaned them. They came out of the wash smelling cleaned and refreshed and ready to wear. Once.out of the dryer the smell is calmed down and you still have that amazing feeling of ahhhh... Better then anything else I have ever tried this soap is definitely one I am going to purchase for future use. And I've researched that it's safe for septic systems and doesn't clog them up.
