Thank you for leaving a review. The griddle top is made of steel and will rust when seasoning has worn off, has not been applied, or when the griddle has been stored for long periods. Follow the “Seasoning and Griddle Care” instructions in your manual, to remove rust and flaking and to re-season and restore the griddle top.

Pro Series Griddle

This griddle is excellent. I've cooked several meals on it since putting it together. Easy to season and a great value.

Rust still in box

Unpacking bought today and there's rust on the outside edges of the griddle plate around the hinges.

Thank you for taking time to leave a review. Discolouring/Rust can happen when seasoning has not been applied, has worn off or when the griddle has been stored for long periods. A well seasoned griddle top has a sheen, oily black/dark coating, evenly across the entire surface. Applying a coating of oil at the start and finish of each cook, will help to maintain seasoning. If rust does appear on your griddle top, the heavy gauge steel griddle is easily restored and re-seasoned. How to Season Your Griddle Top: 1. Clean the griddle top with a damp cloth to remove any dust/dirt.2. Apply oil to the griddle top, sides and corners. Use a paper towel to coat surface thoroughly.3. Light the griddle and set control knobs to the “MAX” setting.4. Heat the oil to its smoke point. You will notice the griddle top changing color.5. When the oil stops smoking, repeat steps 2 to 4, about 5 times, until the griddle surface becomes dark. (Do not cool Griddle between seasoning steps.)Oils to use for seasoning:• Vegetable oil• Vegetable shortening• Canola oil• Flax oil• Olive oil - Not ideal. Burns off at lower temperatures than the other options above.DO NOT USE SOAP on the griddle surface, this will destroy the seasoning.Should you have any questions, or require assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at the number on your manual, or by reaching out to the Member's Mark Help Center toll free at: (888) 301-0332 from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. CST Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. CST on Sundays. Please have the item number from your receipt, the serial number, the product UPC and/or the product description ready to provide to our Member Care Professional.
