Nice... but glitchy > needs some software updates

I only had the watch for 2-3 days... but already experienced some random reboots/restarts while browsing the body battery graph... and I also got 2 ugly "bricked device" kind of experiences. The watch doesn't turn on on gesture or button, screen is black and it needs recharging via cable or hard reset to get back to life... and unfortunately loses all graph data for body battery, stress, heart rate... The solution at the moment might be the auto-lock function. Somehow the watch activates to easily... Why is not a double tap feature and it only requires a 1tap to wake up ? Hopefully this could be solved via a software update. This is such a nice watch... Thanks!

Great features but....

It sometimes feels like the measurements are off. Obviously, with a wrist watch things won't be 100% accurate all the time so I still give it 5 stars. I wonder if I need to calibrate it to maybe correct it. The battery lasts so much longer than my previous watch so I'm already impressed. The customization is quite extensive as well. I changed clock faces, edited my short cuts and even downloaded another app for my watch. The store seems a little confusing but I just need more time on it to understand it. Tldr: good watch, needs some improvements in the measurements aspect(or mine needs calibration if that's even a thing), battery lasts quite a while, customization is great

Very nice!

Replaced a "4." Love the new screen, all the info bites, e.g., the morning wake-up. Find some challenges in navigating the "wake-up" utility, but assume that I'll become more proficient with time. I miss the indoor stair counter, but it was pretty unreliable.

Best Fitness Watch Ever!

Honestly, if you’re thinking about getting one, stop waiting and just do it. I will preface by saying that I’m an Apple user and it pairs with my phone just fine. Anyways, my family could not stop raving about how great their Garmin was and how I needed to get one, especially because I’ve been training for a half marathon and blah blah blah. So… I finally did it, and I wish I’d done it sooner! This thing tracks everything - steps, body battery, heart rate, sleep score - EVERY.THING. It comes with a Garmin Coach that has been giving me guided workouts. Right now mine is for running. You just go through and pick what you want to train for and they give you several coaches to choose from. Did I mention it was FREE? And I can’t believe how long the battery lasts! I use the features on this watch DAILY, and I charge it once a week. Most times not even to 100% because I don’t want to miss out on my step count. (LOL) Anyways, just get one. I don’t miss my Apple Watch at all.

Excellent Watch With A Major Flaw

The watch has some fantastic features for all sorts of activities and does a great job of tracking your progress. I like that I can simply add my music to it and carry it along for those long runs. Battery life is very good, as well. However, the watch has one major flaw. When I select an activity while listening to music, the watch will immediately disconnect all Bluetooth devices (e.g., phone, headphones, etc.) as it tries to geolocate using GPS. Changing the setting from "All Systems" to "GPS Only" works sometimes but I have still encountered the issue. Reconnecting to Bluetooth devices takes a few minutes, which is tedious and annoying.

Not a fan of the golf and Oxygen sensor Apps

This watch, which I received as a gift, has become an almost constant companion on my wrist. However, I’ve encountered a couple of issues. Firstly, the oxygen sensor is not particularly user-friendly. It’s a struggle for me to pinpoint the exact moment when my oxygen levels dip, making it challenging to cross-reference this data with my sleep app to identify potential sleep apnea events. Secondly, the golf app has a significant limitation - it only functions when my phone is connected to the watch. This is inconvenient for me as I prefer to leave my phone in the car while I’m out on the golf course. These issues certainly detract from the overall user experience.

Works great just like I expected.

I had a different brand of smartwatch that didn’t last 6 months they replaced it lasted 8 months. I looked on line for reviews of and the only complaint of vivoactive 4 was the company was too conservative and I thought that’s my watch. I beat it to death for the years I had it and it worked great but it a little scrtched up. So I really like the5 so far it’s been great.

Sorry Garmin!

I have used an Apple Watch since 2019, but their inability to produce a new model with a reasonable battery life really got me wanting to try something new. I'd really like to track my sleep and not have to charge my battery sometime in the middle of each day. My fiance is a police officer and loves his Garmin Instinct and it's crazy long battery life, functions for golfing and hiking! After research I went with the Vivoactive 5 for it's fitness tracking and great battery. My daughter also jumped on board and got the same watch. Unfortunately, I had issues from the start. I walk while working at my computer. You cannot set the watch to count steps accurately if you['re typing on your computer and walking. I even tried putting it on an ankle strap. The distance on the treadmill never matched the distance on the watch - yet it was almost spot on with my Apple Watch. I joined a sub-Reddit and tried multiple different things, turning off GPS and heart rate monitor, putting in your pocket and a few other experiments - none worked nor tracked distance accurately! This might not seem like a huge deal for some, but this is mainly what I use mine for so it is for me. The battery is amazing, sleep tracking so insightful! The interface could use some work and is not smooth, it feels very "android" and not like Apple, which unfortunately I've been indoctrinated to love! Old habits die hard I guess, and so I returned my Vivoactive 5 and went back to my Apple Watch which I have to charge in the middle of the day for about an hour if I want to wear it through the night. My daughter really loves hers, and I really wanted it to work for me, but the distance being off so greatly was a hard pass. Sorry Garmin!

Confused

My son got me this to help me train and it’s very confusing to me on how to access the statistics that I want to see. Mine goes straight to activities and then you spend a lot of time navigating that it is also very hard for me to get used to the plastic band because it holds water under it.

Vivo 5 vs Vivo 3

I got this watch Christmas 2024. I had a Garmin Vivo 3. It has been a great watch but after 5 years the battery was starting to get weak and would fail quickly. I decided to get the Vivo 5 as an upgrade to replace it. This Vivo 5 didn't live up to the job. It seemed to track a exercise fairly well but the intensity minutes came to easy, it delivered my stress level extremely high, seemed to always be disconnected from Bluetooth and you had to touch the watch face to see what time it was. The Vivo 3 had a sunlight visible face. Just didn't live up to my expectations.
